Hope Box April 2019 - Art Back

Clear Creek Elementary School Masterpiece - Priceless

I can’t help but think this mouse is kind of sad, but it is very sweet.

Hope Box April 2019 - Bird Front

Hope Box April 2019 - Bird Back

Gwen’s Homemade Gifts Flappers the Happy Hope Bird - Retail Price $10 (currently sold out)

This handcrafted cutie stands 3 inches tall and is crocheted with acrylic yarn and stuffed. This blue bird has a funky hairdo and irresistibly cute cartoony eyes. Hopebox includes a crocheted item in each box, and this is possibly the cutest crocheted plush I’ve ever seen.

Hope Box April 2019 - Soy Candle Top Front

Hope Box April 2019 - Soy Candle Open Top Front

Modern Forestry Spring Gardenia Soy Candle, 4oz - Retail Price $10

This soy candle is scented with a floral gardenia scent; I usually shy away from potent floral fragrances, but I just love the smell of gardenia. This candle can also function as a lotion candle since Modern Forestry uses 100% soy and essential oils for their products. I like the idea of lotion candles, but the lotion just never seems to absorb into the skin.

Hope Box April 2019 - Rock1

Sparetime Creations Hand Painted April Hope Stone - Retail Value $16

Painted stones are typically not my choice of decor, but this one is cheerful enough to use as a paperweight. It is quite heavy!

Hope Box April 2019 - Eye 2

Cales Natural Beauty Eye Treatment Mask - Estimated Value $1.60 (Buy 15 for $23.97, found here for $16.97)

Here is your average under eye mask - de-puffing and moisturizing to boot! I left patches on for about 25 minutes and found they left my under-eye looking fresh and radiant after a long day.

Hope Box April 2019 - Soap 1

Hope Box April 2019 - Soap 2

Finchberry Rosey Posey Vegan Soap - Retail Price $10

Let’s touch on this beautiful packaging first - just look at it! This luxury soap would make such a lovely gift based on the packaging alone.

Hope Box April 2019 - Soap 3

Hope Box April 2019 - Soap 4

But let’s not stop there. The contents of the lovely packaging are just as glorious - there is even glitter at the top of this marbled soap! I love a bougie vegan bar soap, but the strong rose scent of this one makes me sneeze, so it will be gifted.

Hope Box April 2019 - Bracelet Front

Laminin by Missy Robertson Semi-Precious Stone Bracelet - Retail Price $16

The colors of the beads on this bracelet are so complimentary and different; some of the jewel tones have a luminosity which is eye-catching, and the pop of gold glitter on a few add a bit of interest. The greatest part about this bracelet is the company behind it; Laminin employs women “in need of a new purpose” who were rescued from sex trafficking, homelessness, etc. Love that!

Sahale Snacks Maple Pecan Glaze Mix, 1 pouch- Buy a pack of 9 for $11.61

Hopebox hit the nail on the head when they chose this treat (for me). It is a mix of nuts and dried fruits in a sweet maple glaze--delicious! It really was an ode to pecan pie, and I loved every bite, even though this package did not last long.

Hope Box April 2019 - Cup 1

Hope Box April 2019 - Cup 2

Christian Art Gifts Large Spring Hope Mug - Estimated Value $4.99, based on similar mugs found here

I couldn’t find this exact mug on the website, but I linked all of their other mugs above. I have a vast collection of mugs, and this will be a lovely addition. It is the perfect size mug for a large cup of tea, and it has a terrific weight to it (much heavier than any mugs I have of this size). The watercolor floral print is beautiful, and although the saying isn’t quite me, I can look past that for the perfect vessel to fuel my tea addiction.

Hope Box April 2019 - Notes 1

Hope Box April 2019 - Notes 2

Bella Adele Journal - Estimated Value $6.50, based on similar journals found here

I go through notebooks like this on a monthly basis, so having this cute, travel-themed spare will come in handy. I didn’t find this exact version online, but they have a few other prints available.

The Verdict: Hopebox sent a lovely box my way, although a few items weren’t quite my speed. It seems they’ve overestimated the value of this box in the listed value by quite a lot (details below), which I don't like to see, but I feel like if you value handmade, thoughtful items, then you will appreciate this curation. Also, if you know someone who is having a hard time, this subscription is a real treat to unbox.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the May box. From Hopebox:

"After we process your first payment successfully, we aim to ship your hopebox within two business days. Upon renewal date (usually the 15th of the month following your order date), this process starts over."

LIMITED TIME DEAL: Save 10% at checkout with the code MOMSDAY

Value Breakdown: Between estimated, listed and retail values, this box adds up to a value of $70.35, which is definitely nowhere near the listed value of $115.

The subscription cost of $49.99 +$8.63 to ship to PA) included 10 items (excluding bonus item), which breaks down to approximately $5.86 per item.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Just an FYI, they carry that Sahale at Walmart in a larger bag. There are 2 or 3 flavors, but the one you sampled is amazing.

Not that it matters but that mouse may appear sad to you because it’s a bear.

LOL! Thank you for clarifying, and I do see it now—sorry Mr. Bear!!

I calculated about $80. If they didn’t inflate the intended value for this box, I would not be upset. Since they do promise $115 & Didn’t deliver on that value, I would never trust to do business with them.

This box is a quaint concept, but I feel like the execution and value of the box could be drastically improved. It seems like it’s trying to compete with boxes like Causebox, but the items included in this feel less artisanal.

This box also puts nearly the same items in each month. I had a 3 month sub and got 3 of those same candles and 3 rocks. Boring after a while.

I agree. It’s a beautiful box for a gift but gets to be the same every month! I do love the knit things each month and bought the bird directly from the artist. The cookies they include are also amazing!
