GlossyBox is a monthly beauty subscription box. They have the best packaging in the business, their products are usually a deluxe size or full size, and the value is usually good too.

We also received a coffee subscription voucher from Amora Coffee. I am not a coffee drinker (GASP!) but my husband is. I might look into this. Check out our Amora Coffee reviews to learn more!

Before we get started, I want to give you a heads up that I am not sure yet if there will be any variation in this box, or if all subscribers will receive the exact same items.

ORYZA Dewy Glow Balm, 25 ml - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $16.00

I enjoy a good all-purpose balm, though I wish this one had some sort of scent. If you love fragrance-free items you are probably happy it doesn't though. The biggest ingredient here is petrolatum gel and parrafin, though it also has rice bran, shea, and sunflower seed oil. It is a good all-purpose product for your hands, elbows, knees, cuticles, or anywhere else that needs a little moisturizer.

Grow Gorgeous Back Into The Roots Scalp Mask, 2.02 fl oz - Estimated Value $6.82 (Buy a full size 8 oz for $27.00)

I have tried this product before and thought I wasn't a fan, I have only found ONE scalp detox/scrub that I truly enjoyed enough to purchase again in a sea of great products. Needless to say, you might love this, even though I didn't. My hair is really thick and I have a hard time getting most scalp related products through it unless it is a thinner texture. This stuff does smell fantastic! Think strong mint and other herbs, and a little cooling effect too. Beware of getting it in your eyes though! That cooling effect doesn't feel great there.

Purlisse Coconut Oil + Coffee Sugar Body Scrub, 0.7 oz - Estimated Value $2.80 (Buy a full size 6 oz here for $24.00)

A scrub is a perfect item to include in a box focused on barefaced beauty. You have to get that skin exfoliated to make it truly glow! This is a body scrub, and in my opinion, I would keep it away from your face, focusing instead on arms and legs. I love a heavy duty scrub on the back of my thighs because I feel like it helps me look smoother and with bathing suit season coming up I want to make sure that skin I often ignore gets a little pampering. This has a heavy coffee scent that lingers after rinsing, and it also leaves behind a light, oily finish that easily rubs into your skin after you dry off.

Purlisse Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm, 0.34 oz - Estimated Value $4.80 (Buy a full size 1.7 oz for $24.00)

This formula is recommended for oily/combo/normal skin, so it wasn't enough for my dry (!) skin. My mom, however, loves things like this and I feel like it might be another product for her to enjoy in the hot summer months. This balm is very lightweight, absorbs almost immediately, and smells like watermelon candy. With watermelon extract, cucumber, white tea, and aloe, it is a great after-sun skin treat!

Daily Concepts Daily Body Scrubber - Retail Value $10.00

This is another item I have gotten before in a box and my husband quickly stole it because he has this thing with scrubby sponges. He is way into them! Looks like he has a new replacement, which should make him very happy. I personally love the scrubby texture of this sponge because it is an easy way to clean and exfoliate in one step. It works great with your favorite soap or shower gel and the writing on the tag is meant to fade when it is time to replace, though ours never did.

Kocostar Slice Sheet Mask in Cucumber - Retail Value $5.00

After my recent Piibu review (review coming soon!), I have been more open to slice masks, though I still prefer a full face sheet. The only real downside with these cuties is that the bags are not resealable, meaning you have to use the 12 mini masks in one session unless you find some way to seal them. Or have a massive super fun masking party? Hmm... These cucumber slices smell just like the real thing and make me feel like a rich fancy lady when I use them while lounging on my couch. I need a chaise STAT!

Kocostar Slice Sheet Mask in Watermelon - Retail Value $5.00

These are nearly identical to the cooling and moisturizing effect of the cucumber version, but these smell like summery watermelon. I love stashing mini masks in my fridge and applying them after a day or fishing in the sun or gardening. They do a great job of calming red skin and I truly feel like they are even more effective with a Mojito in hand.

Verdict: GlossyBox was a little different this month, barer, summer-skin focused and rather fruity! Because there wasn't really a clear hero item or anything I was just jumping to try, I wasn't sure I would really be into this at first, but the more I opened the products the more excited I got. I could have used larger sizes on some of the items, but each was legitimately something I would use, except the scalp masque. I positively enjoyed the coffee scrub (and I don't even drink coffee), loved the back to basics balm, and replaced my husband's favorite shower sponge. My mom will probably be obsessed with the watermelon balm and I have stashed the slice masks in the fridge for more uses. The only thing this box was really lacking that would have rounded out the summery theme was a sunscreen product, but maybe next time. This box has a value of $50.42, which is good for this $21 box.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I got the same box…..and I love masks…and skincare….but like the review, really dont care much for the scalp treatment! The box was meh….and I sure hope it gets better…but dang…last summer, alot of sub boxes were putting in multiple sunscreens at a time! I dont need that!! One or two good ones will suffice! Going to hang on a little longer and see if Glossy gets better!

Glossy box is slacking. Way to many deluxe or sample sizes. While other subs are offering all full size. They aren’t even trying to compete.

I got the exact same box, and, while I’m keeping all the items, I am quite underwhelmed. But if a cancel, they’ll probably put something I just love in the next box. *sigh*

I was so disappointed with this box. And after seeing the values in writing I am second guessing this subscription. The only product I like is the all purpose balm. It is great for my extremely chapped lips. Guaranteed I won’t use the other products. Step it up glossy!!!! You are better than this.

Funny, I read the last few months of reviews and this was the only box that appealed to me. I DID buy the Advent Calendar with the 25% off and I’m hoping the US version is nearly as good as the UK one. Their boxes overall are waaaayyyy better than ours, for sure!

Thanks for the review….but I don’t understand why you said in the end that this is a good value for $21 if it is only worth $50.

This box was a joke 🤷

Megan K.

Hey Anna! I realize value is quite subjective so let me try and explain where I am coming from. Basically, this box was worth over double what it costs. Is this a knock my socks off value? No. I have seen some crazy expensive things in my boxes! But I also can’t say that receiving $50 or odd so dollars worth of products for $21 dollars is a bad value. I would much rather see a $75-100+ value, but that just doesn’t happen in every box, especially one that is relatively inexpensive to begin with.

As I said in the spoilers, after two years I finally cancelled. Tired of being disappointed with the products.

This is my first box after I signed up. Huge let down. I vacillated forever before signing up for a “better” subscription after trying a couple $10 ones. This honestly reminds me of the $5 Walmart beauty boxes, complete with invitation to sign up for something else.

Don’t even try the Amora Coffee sign up…it’s A Scam! Shame on you Glossybox for sending us such a lure to a skanky company!

Wow, the retail values have really gone down lately,
January $168.43
February $81.15
March $95.31
April $53.12
May $50.42

Just a few years ago they were advertising 5 full sized items too. That went away first. Now it seems the $100 min value went away too??

Flora

Their splash page says 7 products valued at $60 but it looks like that they round up…hard.

Kaylee

This is a terrible box! That looks more like a $10 box than a $21! I’d be quite upset if I was getting it.

Agreed! So disappointing..

With slice masks, I take out the ones I’m using, and put the open package in a ziplock. I love the watermelon balm, I use it on my cuticles.

I was wondering if it would work to put the leftover slices in some Press N Seal wrap….
