Fortune Cookie Soap “Fresh Picks” Review

Fortune Cookie Soap Box April 2019 - Info

Here is the info sheet for the items sent this month.

Fortune Cookie Soap Box April 2019 - Sticker

We also received a sticker!

Fortune Cookie Soap Box April 2019 - Perfume 1

Fortune Cookie Soap Box April 2019 - Perfume 2

Always a Wildflower Blossom Perfume Oil

This perfume oil is infused flower petals and smells like sweet pea and watery pear entwined with peach nectar and freesia. I like the scent and I think it is beautiful to look at, but I am disappointed to receive another perfume oil. This makes the third perfume oil we have received since January, and since the boxes are now sending fewer products I would really like to see more diversity in the products they choose to include.

Fortune Cookie Soap Box April 2019 - Oil

Be a Pineapple Shower Oil

I love a good spray-on shower oil—sometimes the idea of lotioning up my skin just sounds like too much work, and products like these are the perfect solution. I can just spray it on my skin, rub my legs and arms together if I so choose, and I am moisturized and smelling like a snack. This shower oil is scented with essences of ocean mist and pineapple infused with lychee, sugar cane, and vanilla orchid. I like it, and I wish we received a bigger bottle.

Fortune Cookie Soap Box April 2019 - Toner

Once Upon a Thyme Twinkle Tonic Exfoliating Toner, 2 oz

This toner has a lot of organic ingredients, including organic aloe, organic sugar maple extract, organic orange peel extract, and organic alcohol. This also has glycolic and lactic acid, and it really just has a lot going on in terms of active ingredients. I caution using this if you have sensitive skin thanks to the combination of chemical exfoliants with orange peel and lemon, but it does have a light, refreshing herbal scent thanks to the added fragrance

Fortune Cookie Soap Box April 2019 - Conditioner

Olive You Berry Much Leave-In Conditioner, 1 oz

Fortune Cookie Soap makes some great hair products, so I am always happy to see more. This little baby bottle is perfect for travel, and the scent is described as wild raspberries in the field, delicate tulips, and a touch of Mediterranean olive sprinkled with lemon zest. It smells nice, and it adds a lightweight layer of hydration to my hair thanks to the milk protein and argan oil.

The Verdict: I enjoyed the fresh scent's theme of this month's box, but it really feels like the products are a bit repetitive considering the frequency that perfume oils are included in the monthly box. I hope to see Fortune Cookie Soap mix it up a bit more in the future because their creativity knows no bounds when it comes to scents and themes.

The Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you still sign up today? No. If you sign up today your first box will be the July box.

From Fortune Cookie Soap:

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I just used my fortune cookie soap, I’d never actually pay for one unless for display only.

Used it as hand soap, after a few uses looks like someone left their dentures on my sink :/

I thought this was my first box, was not. Just got mine in the mail today, some Peter Pan theme. & There was essential oil in it, smells good. Not at all as pretty as this box’s though so a little bummed out!

The sizes are so small!! 🙁 Everything is like a one time use pretty much!

Be thankful you didn’t get the above April box. It had 4 tiny samples where as the May box had 6 tiny samples. Still puzzled because were supposed to receive a full size item each month that I haven’t been able to figure out which item is full size out of all the tiny samples.

Maybe time to cancel. At the $17 price point I could get allure or almost 2 ipsys. I’m so sick of perfume oil I just let my very pleased 5 year old rub half the bottle on herself before bath time.

Unfortunately I think they’re considering the perfume oils the full size items. I’m not too happy about that either. They really need to send a different full size item each month. They make plenty of different products to be able to do that. I usually like the perfume oil scents but don’t have time to use them all. Instead I remove the rollerball and use a dropper to put it in my wax burner along with water or leftover wax that’s lost it’s scent.

Great review. It’s a bummer there’s been a lot of repetition. This is one of the boxes I always look forward to reading about bc usually the items are unique.

Oh yeah if they don’t give the perfume oils a break, I’m cancelling

I believe you’re supposed to get 1 full size item and 3 deluxe samples. Which is the full size item? They all look tiny. I emailed the company the same question and all I got was crickets

Jackie

The perfume is the full-sized item. 🙂

I love the new model because I’m always on product overload. I have the quarterly for that reason and I’m always jealous of you monthly people. The scents, the names….one of my favorites.

Since it’s after the 10th as far as I know if you subscribed between now and June 10th you’ll get July because June was billed on 5/10.

I totally agree, with regard to the repetition of certain products.
I feel as if it’s been long enough (several months) for me to decide if this new subscription model works for me, and I think I preferred the older subscription (larger, full-size products in greater quantity, even if at a higher price point). Last year, I discovered so many FCS products that I later purchased due in large part to having tried it in the monthly sub. The themes were awesome, too

I agree. I subscribed to this box the month before the new model went into effect and I wish I had known what was going on. I definitely subscribed expecting full sized products, not these tiny sample sizes of everything. I’m very ready to cancel. Gonna find a bath and body subscription that is similar to the old fortune cookie soap boxes. Anyone have any suggestions?

This is my first box coming. I ended up cancelling because it took a month before they shipped something & wanted to see the box before I decided to keep it. Not sure if ill re subscribe yet. The products look too small & fast at use to enjoy for the money.

I’m trying to fully cut back on spending & the amount of stuff that I think will bring me happiness.

I truly love the perfume oils so I’m excited for mine! It looks lovely!
I can see how a switch up would be nice if its so frequent. I haven’t gotten one in forever!! So excited!
