Bonjour Jolie May 2019 "Bee" Review

This month's Bonjour Jolie box is all about the bees! They included this card which lists all of our items and their values. On the back, they talk about the importance of bee conservancy and how they are sponsoring local hives in their area and they encourage us to do the same. This is such a cute theme and a fun way to highlight an important cause!

Plus, look at that cute bee paper it all came wrapped in!

Let's start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme, and this beehive bag is so unique and fun!

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

Seventh Generation Tampons,Regular (8)- Buy 18 for $6.99

Seventh Generation Ultrathin Overnight (10) - Buy 28 for $7.99

Kotex Long Liners (3) - Buy 16 for $0.99

You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. This month I received 8 tampons, 10 pads, and 3 liners. Sometimes they are a little off on the number of each item that they send you, but a lot of times they include more. I did reach out to customer service once when they sent me less and they were easy to reach and made sure to send extras in my box the next month!

GoodWipes Cleansing Cloths in Shea-cocoa (2) - Buy a box of 16 for $2.19

Cleansing cloths like these seem to be in every box which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.

Advil to Go Packs (2) –  Buy 50 packets for $9.98

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

South Bee Farms Lotion Bar (4 oz) - Retail Value $20, Listed Value $16

The first item in our box is a solid lotion bar from the aptly named South Bee Farms. How cute is their packaging and that fun honeycomb and bee design on the bar? This lotion bar idea is new to me and it feels a bit greasier than liquid lotion, but they recommend using it on dry areas like elbows and heels, or even on your cuticles, so I think that's why it feels a little more heavy duty! It definitely works great on those drier areas and the scent is really nice with honeysuckle and beeswax. It smells so summery and while it is a bit strong, it is one of those scents that I want to keep smelling once I catch a whiff. It has coconut oil, shea butter, mango butter, jojoba oil, and vitamin E, and I love that it is made with beeswax that has been harvested straight from their own bees and hives!

Beachy Upcycle Queen Bee and Honey Drop Necklace - Listed Value $12

It looks like their website is not up and running yet, but Beachy Upcycle uses antique crystal chandeliers to make their pendants and creates their charms and chains using recycled brass and copper. This is such a fun concept and I love the amber color of the pendant which goes so nicely with our little brass bee charm. The chain is more of a copper color and while this isn't exactly my style, I ended up liking it more than I thought and I also thought it went well with the theme.

I really liked the length of this and I think the colors will go nicely with a lot of different outfits!

Dickinson's Honey and Dipper Set - Listed Value $3.00

I couldn't find this online, but this little set is so adorable! I love the beehive packaging and the tiny maple wood honey dipper goes perfectly with our tiny jar of honey. These are a great addition to a bee-themed box! While the honey was not as rich as I would like, I'm happy to have the little dipper to use next time I get some local honey!

The rest of our goodies all came packaged together in this yellow mesh bag.

The Honey Jar Home Honey Sticks - Listed Value $1

Including these honey sticks was a cute idea and this variety pack was fun to receive! We received clover honey, blackberry, and cinnamon honey and they were all yummy! These are made in Utah and come in a BPA free tube.

Primrose Honey Candy - Listed Value $1.50

These honey-filled candies with their cute bee wrappers are another great themed goodie idea! They are pretty tasty and feature real honey in the center.

Honey Maid Graham Crackers - Buy 200 packs for $37.37 here

These are an obvious, but good choice! Unfortunately, my graham crackers did not survive the journey and were pretty crumbled, but still had a few big enough pieces that my kids devoured them with no issues.

Nature Valley Oats & Honey Granola Bar - Buy a box of 6 for $2.99 here

Granola bars are always a good choice and Oats & Honey is a great flavor for our box theme!

Heavenly Organics Honey Chocolate Patties in Pomegranate & Mint - Listed Value $1.50, Buy 12 patties for $9.00

These are very similar to a peppermint patty, but the chocolate is bitter dark chocolate and the inside is really light and creamy thanks to the honey inside. I liked the mint one a lot, but the fruit flavor wasn't for me so I passed it along to my son who happily ate it up!

Twinings Honey Teas (3 bags) - Listed Value $0.75, Buy a box of 20 teabags for $3.59

Each month they send three tea bags which is always a nice treat for that time of the month and these are the cutest with their honey flavors! I love how thorough they are in following through on their themes! I decided to try the Honeybush, Mandarin & Orange and it was a unique flavor that I enjoyed.

It was made even better by a little bit of honey from the little pot I received!

Verdict: I was so happy to see that Bonjour Jolie was back to really going all out on their theme! It makes for a really fun box and I love to see the ways they curate the products to fit within the theme. The bee and honey theme is a great one and I love that they are sponsoring some local beehives this month! I also enjoyed all of the honey-themed snacks they were able to provide this month. I estimate (very roughly) that the total retail value of this box is about $49.90 which I think is great for a $24.48/month ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box. It is so fun to receive your monthly products along with some goodies to provide you a much-needed pick-me-up when you need it most!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

The curation of this is super cute. I love that necklace too! I only get my period a few times a year, otherwise I’d probably sign up just for that necklace.

Hi Jackie! If you go under the “Specialty Boxes” section on their website, you can sign up for the goods only and get a box without menstrual products! 🙂

Thank you so much!

Wow, an adorable, well curated box! From the packaging, to the on point selections, this may make me resub. I wish the shipping were a bit lower. Inclusive with the box, an even $20 or $21.95, or something in that range.
