The Birchbox Coral Color Kit Review
Here is the info sheet for the products included.
Love of Color One & Done Shadow Stick in Peachy Sheen, Full-Size! Retail Value $10
I like the Love of Color shadow sticks, but this one may be my favorite. It is a gorgeous peachy rose gold that really brightens up my eyes. It is easy to apply thanks to the pencil tip, and I have been reaching for this non-stop as just a quick and easy way to add some brightness to my eyes when applied to the lower lash line.
Here it is applied.
rms beauty™ lip2cheek in Smile, Full-Size! Retail Value $36
This is my first time owning a full-size product from RMS, and I consider them to be a higher-end brand so that makes me happy. This is a dual lip and cheek stain, and while it would look lovely as a light, tinted lip balm I have been using it with the beauty blender that came in this kit for a natural flush to my cheek. The cream texture means it is easy to get a light wash of color that blends out beautifully, which is exactly what I like when I use blush. In the photo above I am also wearing one coat of the Benefit lip tint.
Benefit Cosmetics Chachatint Cheek & Lip Stain, Full-Size! Retail Value $30
Benefit Cosmetics was one of the first makeup brands I tried once I started to graduate from drugstore products, and it still has a soft spot in my heart. The cheek and lip stains are actually some of my favorite makeup products of all-time, and I am STOKED that this came with a full-size jar. I use this exclusively as a lip stain, and I layer it on to build up the color. Before I use it I prep my lips with a balm and scrub, and then I wipe everything off and make sure my lips are dry. I then apply the stain to my lips, wait for it to fully absorb, and then repeat.
Here I am wearing three coats! This on its own will last all day, and I have found that while layering a balm or gloss on top will make it more comfortable, it also shortens the wear time.
beautyblender® beauty.blusher cheeky, Full-Size! Retail Value $16
I am a big fan of the original beauty blender, and this slightly smaller version is perfect for applying blush to the apples of your cheek. To use, you saturate it with water until it expands and is nice and damp (not soaking), and then you bounce the sponge to apply the product. The round end of this fits perfectly into the RMS blush, and I think the pointy end of this sponge makes applying under eye concealer much easier than using the tiny mini sponge.
ColourPop Cosmetics Super Shock Pigment in Animal, Full-Size! Retail Value $6 (found here for $4.20)
If I wore more vibrantly pigmented makeup, Colourpop is definitely the brand I would use to build up my collection. They offer a true rainbow of shades at affordable prices, and this creamy, pigmented electric coral is no exception. This does have a few flecks of gold glitter, and I would only use this with a very light brush- this packs a pigmented punch.
Here it is swatched below the Chacha tint and above the RMS blush and the Love of Color shadow.
butter LONDON™ Glazen™ Nail Lacquer in Blaze, 6 mL – Estimated Value $10 (linked to a similar shade)
I am a fan of butter London polishes, and their glazen line is packed with shimmers and iridescent shine. Blaze is a peachy-coral shade that is slightly sheer so I would use three coats for full opacity.
Sharpener – Estimated Value $5? (linked to a similar item)
This sharpener was included to make sure we can keep our pencils (like the included one from Love of Color) sharp. I have already had to use it, and it gets the job done.
The Verdict: This is, hands down, my favorite Birchbox discovery kit of all time. All of the products are full-size (the description calls the polish deluxe sized, but that is the size all Glazen polishes from Butter London are sold as), the brands and quality are top notch, and the colors are gorgeous. Value-wise, Birchbox promised a total value of $117, and they came just below that with a total value of $113. I am still happy with it - all of the products being full-sized goes a long way for me.
