Trend Alert: Wardrobe Stacking!

Back in February, we asked followers via our Instagram account how they like to stack their bracelets: keep it minimal, or load those babies up? Recently I've been hearing a lot about a new streetwear trend called "Wardrobe Stacking" which has similar fundamentals. The gist is layering pieces of your wardrobe to show off a maximum amount of style. It's sort of response to all this minimalism that's been trendy, like how normcore was a response to looking hip and unique.

What Is Le Tote?

If you're not familiar with Le Tote, they're a clothing rental service that allows you to wear and hang on to clothing and accessories as long as you'd like with no commitment to buy them (although you will be charged each month, regardless of if you send your tote back to get a new one or not). To learn more about how to sign up, you can check out my first post about the company here!

I decided that my latest delivery from Le Tote would be the perfect way to test this whole thing out, so let me show you the final result!

Here it is! Every single one of my 10 items (3 accessories, 7 clothing pieces) from Le Tote in ONE OUTFIT.

I am REALLY feeling the bottom half of this outfit especially. It's sort of a post-apocalyptic-grunge vibe. I'm also pleased that the dress pops out the bottom of the tops and I've successfully displayed all of the sleeves of the long-sleeved items really well. Pulling the collar from the dress out over the turtleneck was a bit of a risk, but I think it paid off and I'm really happy with the result. I feel fierce. I feel prepared for anything. I feel VERY COZY.

A Few Tips on Wardrobe Stacking:

  1. Start with tighter items so that you can build on them more easily and get bulkier as you go.
  2. Picking a palette of just a few colors isn't necessary, but it will give you a more "put together" look.
  3. CONFIDENCE IS KEY. If you walk into a room holding your head high and strutting your stuff, people will respect your look instead of laughing at you.

It's called FASHION, honey. LOOK IT UP.

I'm really excited about this new trend! I think that Le Tote is really the perfect way to try it out, especially if you want new items to stack with looks you already have in your closet.

What do you think about Wardrobe Stacking? Will you be trying it?

Happy April Fools!

I know this is a joke, but these really do look like they could be street style photos! Love the commitment to serious copy and photos!

I designed a very silly show last year, and described the costume design process to the actors as “just keep adding clothes until you’ve reached peak ridiculous.” I should obviously have called it “wardrobe stacking!”

I love the MSA April fool’s jokes. They are obvious jokes, but play on something real. Also, Marne is a real trooper here. That looks so uncomfortable!

April fool?! 😉

Wow you could fly wearing all that and not need to check a bag. I really like staple pieces that can be mixed and matched, a good capsule collection with natural fabrics.

Anna

If you’ve never seen the cheap people show where they flew in big layers to avoid bags you should look it up. I’d have a heat stroke in all the layers.
