Tea Box Express March 2019 Review

You can usually expect one tea (sometimes more), one accessory, and one edible item (sometimes more) in this box. Occasionally there will be other tea-themed items as well:

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Booklet Front

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Booklet Back

There was a card asking you to share your box contents on social media. This subscription typically does not have an information card listing the contents with it.

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Honey 1

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Honey 2

Cloister Honey, Blackberry Blossom (12 honey straws) – Retail Value $6

I don’t typically put honey in my tea, but I like to keep some in my desk at work for when I get a cold and start coughing – honey really helps cut down on that. (I tend to get sick at weird times of the year, too, like May.) I think honey straws are perfect for me because, since they’re not open, they don’t crystallize the same way a full jar would, and you can split them up and keep some in different locations (home, work, purse, etc.). This is a good brand, too; I’ve had some of their other products in the past.

Plum Deluxe, Slowly Unwind Herbal Tea – Buy 1oz for $7

This is a honeybush herbal tea with rose petals and a lot of fruit-based ingredients. It’s a great combination; a lot of these fruity teas get too tart but this one is just about perfect in that regard (although if it is too tart for you, you could always add honey from one of the straws above).

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Black 1

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Black 3

Plum Deluxe, Mindful Morning Black Tea – Buy 1oz for $7

This is probably my favorite tea of the month. Although I do like the herbal, black teas are my favorites. This is an Earl Grey with blue cornflowers and orange peels for some nice (and natural) added color and visual interest. I’ve brought this into the office so I can drink it when I get a little sleepy in the afternoon (it has caffeine).

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Chocolate 1

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Chocolate 2

Mayana Chocolate, Space Bar, 3.5oz – Retail Value $8

This was delicious. Probably my favorite food item of the whole month. It has nougat with almonds in the bottom and caramel on top (so a little bit like a super fancy Snickers bar). If these weren’t $8 each, I would totally buy more.

Tea Box Express March 2019 - Card

Greymount Paper and Press Blank Card – Retail Value $4.50

This month’s accessory is a blank card. You’ll get some tea-related stationery items in this subscription every now and then. This one is suitable for a lot of different purposes so I will just be holding on to it until a need arises.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $32.50 for the March Tea Box Express (this is assuming 1oz of each tea was provided since the packages weren’t labeled with the product weight). I was very happy with the selection of teas and other items. Everything is useful to me and the chocolate was downright delicious. This may not have been the highest-value month, but the curation was wonderful and the value did slightly exceed the cost of the box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You must sign up by the 5th to get that month's box.

Value Breakdown: At $31.99 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Honey straws $5.91
  • Herbal tea $6.89
  • Black tea $6.89
  • Chocolate bar $7.87
  • Card $4.43
