April 2019 Target So Fresh, So Clean Beauty Box Review
Here is the info sheet for the box.
Yes to Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow-Boosting Peel Off Mask – Retail Value $2.99
This mask was a no for me. I try to stay away from peel-off masks in general because they can actually damage your pores, but the real deal-breaker for me was that ethyl alcohol was the third ingredient on this mask. The ingredients that would be beneficial like grapefruit extract and Ascorbic Acid were at the end of the list, which means the concentration is low compared to the amount of alcohol in this mask.
Every Man Jack Sandalwood Body Wash, 3.2 oz – Estimated Value $1.09 (buy the 16.9 oz version for $5.79)
Every Man Jack describes this scent as "masculine sandalwood," but I am very comfortable in my femininity and I still love the scent of sandalwood- so let’s call it unisex. The sandalwood scent was great, and the added benefits of glycerin and castor oil kept this from being a drying body wash.
Up&Up Premium Cotton Rounds, 2 rounds – Estimated Value $0.07 (Buy a pack of 100 for $1.99)
Really Target? Two cotton rounds were the best you could do? They’re cotton rounds, they performed like regular cotton rounds. From a logistics standpoint, I think it would have made more sense to include these in the Bloom Into Beauty box because that box had a toner and this box doesn't have anything that necessitates using cotton rounds. The worst part, by far, is the “tip” that the info sheet provides with these rounds. It says “Don’t let the excess serum from your sheet mask go to waste! Soak it up with cotton rounds, then apply under eyes for a more targeted treatment.” This box didn’t come with a sheet mask, and I do not recommend trying to soak up the excess product from a peel off mask with cotton.
Dove Dry Shampoo Volume & Fullness, 1.15 oz – Retail Value $0.99
I found this dry shampoo to be a bit more drying than I like for my hair- so if you have an oily scalp, this may be an affordable option for you. I do think it added a touch of volume to my roots, but it wasn’t anything to write home about.
Dove Derma Care Dryness & Itch Relief Shampoo, 1.8 oz – Estimated Value $0.73 (buy the 12 oz version for $4.89)
My scalp gets dry pretty easily, and I use a lot of lotions and potions to try and keep my scalp healthy and flake-free. This shampoo wouldn’t replace any of my current products, but I did think it did a good job of soothing my scalp.
Verdict: I don't know who curated this box, but they took a wrong turn somewhere along the way. This felt like a random mishmash of products that didn't go together, and to add insult to injury this box included two cotton rounds as an "item." The worst part, however, is that the value of this kit doesn't even meet what the cost was- this box costs $7, and it has a total value of $5.86. Plus, unlike the other in-store Target boxes, this one did not even come with a coupon. I love you Target, but this was not your best work.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? This box is only available in-store, so I recommend giving your local Target a call.
Value Breakdown: At $7 for this box you’re paying $1.40 per sample.
