SnackSack Gluten-Free March 2019 Review
Included in the box is a brochure that describes the contents of the box. The outer cover highlights SnackSack’s social media pages and offers ways to win snacks and prizes.
The inside of the brochure lists all the items included in the Classic, Vegan and Gluten-Free SnackSack boxes. Highlighted are the items in the Gluten Free box. You’ll notice that some of the same items are included across all boxes so you may receive snacks that are both vegan and gluten-free and they all are either non-GMO or all natural.
Every first-time subscriber receives a reusable SnackSack bag, great for carrying around your snacks and doubles as a reusable grocery bag.
Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps, Black Pepper, 1.75 oz – Retail Value $1.99

These green pea snack crisps are flavored with the taste of freshly cracked peppercorns. They were fresh, crunchy, and not too salty with just a little bit of spice at the end. They were also a little dry so, I ended up drinking a full glass of water! I do appreciate the large serving size – there is just 1 serving per bag.
Country Archer Hickory Smoke Turkey Jerky, 1.5 oz – Retail Value $3.00

Country Archer hickory smoked turkey jerky is smoked to perfection with slices of slow marinated turkey breast. This is hands-down the best jerky I've ever tasted! It's smoky and sweet and surprisingly delicious! It's only 110 calories per bag and low carb so this is a double win.
Ammo Chocolate Chip Granola Bar, 1.7 oz – Estimated Retail Value $1.83 (Buy a box of 6 bars here for $10.99)

Packed with caffeine and protein, this gluten-free granola bar contains crunchy rolled oats with dark chocolate chips. This bar is good and contains as much caffeine as 1 and ½ cups of coffee! The only thing I didn't like was the little bits of oatmeal getting stuck in my teeth. But that wouldn't keep me from grabbing this bar for an afternoon pick-me-up.

This super snack contains almonds, flax, sesame and chia seeds, and has 10 grams of protein and 8 grams of fiber. I appreciate that this snack comes precut, yet even still I made a crumbly mess. It tastes really good especially considering that is just nuts and seeds pressed together with a bit of cane juice. I’m guessing that the cane sugar is what makes it a little sticky to chew.
Beanfields Bean Chips, Pico De Gallo, 1.5 oz – Estimated Retail Value $1.25 (Buy box of 24 here for $30.00)
Taste Score: 6/10
These bean chips deliver a fresh salsa and pico de gallo flavor for a crisp and savory pepper finish. They really are full of flavor and good and crunchy. However, once the flavor wears off, all I taste is beans. Is it snack time or dinner time? Also, the serving size is 1.5 for one reasonably sized bag of chips because my guess is that they'd be very filling.
Bohana Popped Water Lily Seeds, Soulful Spice, 2 oz – Estimated Retail Value $4.17 (Buy a pack of 6 here for $24.99)
Taste Score: 9/10
These light and crunchy, popped water lily seeds are seasoned with a light kick of spice. Actually, I wouldn’t describe the spice as “light” as this snack is quite spicy. It caught me off guard! They are, however, delicious and super delicate. They almost melt in your mouth. If not for the slightly odd smell and aftertaste, these would perfect.
Prince of Peace Ginger Chews with Lychee, 3 oz – Retail Value $1.99
Taste Score: 7/10
These individually-wrapped ginger chews with lychee are an easy and convenient way to enjoy stomach-comforting ginger. This snack is good with the perfect spicy kick of ginger I love. However, they are incredibly sticky, hard to get out the wrapper, and hard to chew. Dental work beware!
Verb Energy Simply Cocoa Energy Bar, 0.78 oz – Estimated Retail Value $1.50 (Buy a bag of 12 bars here for $18.00)
Taste Score: 6/10
This mini bar contains as much caffeine from organic green tea as espresso and is only 90 calories. I love the cocoa taste and kick of caffeine in this energy bar, but I don’t like the taste or texture of the oats. Also, this is a tiny portion considering the calories and cost.
Bada Bean Bada Boom Broad Beans, Mesquite BBQ, 1 oz – Estimated Retail Value $1.04 (Buy box of 24 here for $24.99)
Taste Score: 9/10
This crunchy snack is made of roasted broad beans with mesquite BBQ seasoning. This snack reminds me of corn nuts which I loved eating growing up. They are full of flavor, crunchy, and delicious. I just wish there were a little more in the pack.
R.E.D.D. Salted Caramel Energy Bar, 2 oz – Estimated Retail Value $2.83 (Buy a box of 6 here $16.99)
Taste Score: 7/10
The 3-in-1 treat is a protein bar, energy shot, and multi-vitamin all in one. This bar tastes better than I expected it to. However, it didn't taste how I would expect a salted caramel treat to taste. It's not great but also not bad either.
BONUS! Ocho Candy, Coconut, 0.44 oz – Estimated Retail Value $0.58 (Buy full-size bars here for $1.99)
Taste Score: 9/10
This mini bonus treat contains organic dark chocolate filled with coconut. I enjoyed this tiny decadent treat.
The Verdict: Thanks to SnackSack, I’ve found new and healthy snacks to add to my pantry! Of all the snacks in this month’s box, I like the turkey jerky the best. I also really like the water lily seeds, Ocho coconut candy, and broad beans. The Verb energy bar and bean chips were my least favorite. I was the most surprised by the super bites which were unexpectantly delicious. However, I don’t like that this same item was counted twice – especially since they are the exact same flavor. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this snack box and appreciate the variety of items and flavors included. This further confirms for me that snacks can both taste good and be good for you!
