Caley Cosmetics Beach Babe Natural Brows Pencil in 'Brunette', 0.04 oz - Retail Value $14.00
I think a lot of us in our 30s really overplucked our eyebrows for quite a few years when we were younger. Now that natural, fuller brows are in, we all have to buy so many products to fill them in. I could go on about how I think this whole thing is a beauty industry conspiracy, but that isn't what you are here for, is it? This pencil was marked 'brunette' and I usually buy brunette brow products even though I am a natural ashy blonde. I like a darker brow! Sadly this one was almost an auburn shade, having just a wee bit too much red for me to personally use. It was highly pigmented but not the smoothest pencil, and there were a few clumps here and there that I could have lived without.
It is a pretty deep color, but not the smoothest formula.
EiR Active Face Wash, 1.4 fl oz - Estimated Value $14.00 (Buy a full size 2 fl oz for $20.00)
I really like this Eir brand, especially after the full-size sample from February. I also love ANYTHING with African black soap because it cleanses my skin without stripping it and always leaves it feeling like pure velvet. This formula is interesting, as it has a foaming pump head which creates this very dense cloud of wash that is very easy to apply to your skin. It lathers up beautifully! The instructions do not specify this, but I recommend trying this on wet or dry skin then rinsing it off. I like to apply it to dry skin if I have a full face of makeup that I know will need a little extra work to remove. It has the tiniest of little scrubbies for some extra exfoliation. I absolutely loved this cleanser and I am happy with the pretty large size of our sample. It should last quite a while, especially since it foams!
Blissoma Refine Clay Renewal Treatment Mask, 0.5 oz - Estimated Value $8.00 (Buy a full size 2.5 oz for $40.00)
I have very dry skin so I generally avoid clay masks. This one smells like legit heaven though, and I was curious about this brand as I have never tried anything from them. The mask itself is a brownish tan and smells like botanicals, dirt, and there is a little hint of leather in there. The main ingredient is Moroccan Rhassoul clay and it also has willow bark and celery juice. The Petit Vour page specifically mentions this is a great mask for acne-prone skin, which translates in my head as to oily skin, and therefore not my skin, but I gave it a go! It dries in about 15 minutes and that smell lingers the whole time. It is very drying, and my skin felt refreshed but also super tight after washing it off. I suspect this might be a good spot treatment for those random blemishes I do get, but this mask is best left for oilier skin types.
Juice Beauty Antioxidant Serum, 7.8 ml - Estimated Value $6.24 (Buy a full size 60 ml here for $48.00)
Ok, if you read my reviews you might think I just dislike this brand. I get it! I have yet to really find a product I absolutely love from them. I truly think that the majority of their products I have tried are meant for oilier skin, and mine is super dry. That being said, I actually liked this product. It is a lightweight serum packed with tons of antioxidants that help fend off free radicals that age your skin. It is also full of peptides, alpha lipoic acid, and CoQ10 which help with those fine line and overall skin texture. It smells fresh, absorbs quickly, and leaves a matte finish. It is a little tacky on the dry down, but I always put on moisturizer or primer after a serum like this so that was fine. Would this ever replace my go-to serums? No. BUT it is a lot less expensive and it is a solid choice for someone who wants a vegan workhorse daily serum.
Verdict: This month's Petit Vour box has an estimated value of $42.24, which is a good value for an $18 beauty box, which includes free shipping. I absolutely loved the Eir face wash and was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked the Juice serum. The eyebrow pencil would have been better if the color had been right for me, and though I don't love clay masks, my husband tends to steal them since he has oily skin. This is such a great sub for someone seeking out specifically vegan and cruelty-free makeup and beauty products. I recommend it if you are slowly swapping out items in your routine or if you just love beauty and skincare items from smaller and independent makers.
