Organic Bunny Box March 2019 Review

In addition to the already cute exterior box, you get a really nicely designed and sturdy reusable gift box each month that houses all of your organic goodies. It seems to change ever so often as well, so you can amass a collection of different designs. This month has a new design with cute illustrated bunnies all over it.

The lid stays put with magnets so you can use it again after you've raided it. It reads: "For the glamorous girl with a green heart"

The Organic Bunny Box doesn't include an info card but normally has all the items listed on their website by the time it arrives.

Osmia Organics Nectar Vital Rose Drops, sample size - Buy a full-size 1 oz bottle for $98.00

The instructions had me add this to a product from my existing skincare routine as opposed to a separate serum to "increase penetration, strengthen your skin cells and help them maintain their moisture throughout the day" so I added it to my night cream before bed. It has a nice light scent and mixed well with the cream, so I'm interested to see how it works with other serums or my BB cream. It contains organic safflower, argan, prickly pear, and pumpkin seed oils which are almost 100% organic so I feel good about putting this on my skin.

Captain Blankenship Lemongrass & Mint Sea Mineral Liquid Soap, 2 oz. - Retail Value $8.00

Lemongrass and mint is a pretty unbeatable scent combination for me, so I immediately fell for this liquid soap that can be used as a body wash or handsoap alike. I love the fun colored bottle and as is with all of these travel sized items, is perfect for a weekend jaunt. I'm heading to New Jersey this weekend with friends so I'll be taking this breath of fresh Spring scents with me!

2nd Kind Beauty Black Obsidian + Charcoal Face Scrub, 1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $15.00 (Buy 2 oz. for $30.00)

This scrub is suuuuper neat! The directions had me take a dime sized amount to my fingertips and gently massage it onto a damp face. As I massaged it into my skin, it started foaming slightly and turned into a pretty pale grey color. There was some grit in it, but not a dense amount. Just enough to spread around my face. Once I rinsed it off, my face felt almost waxy at first but quickly subsided and left my face feeling quite clean and moisturized. The most prominent scent was the tea tree oil which I've always liked. I like how different this scrub is from most and I will get many many uses out of it!

2nd Kind Beauty Ground Coffee + Cocoa Facial Mask, 1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $9.50 (Buy 2 oz. for $19.00)

After scrubbing, I went ahead and used this coffee + cocoa mask. As you'd expect, it smelled just like both featured ingredients. I added a teaspoon of the powder to the palm of my hand and slowly added tiny amounts of water to form a paste. I then just used my fingertips to spread the dark brown mask onto my skin. I left it on for a little over 10 minutes while I texted my friend and drank a mango beer. Once it dried to a lighter cocoa color (much like the powder itself), I took a damp cloth to rinse it off, leaving tight, squeaky clean skin behind. My skin felt so refreshed, it was beaming. I, of course, added my usual serum and moisturizer afterward before heading to bed.

There's also a card with directions on how to use both products since there are no directions on the containers.

Sahajan Ayurvedic Blend Nurture Hair Oil, 1.8 oz. - Retail Value $50.00

Since I have thin limp hair, I don't mess with hair oil at all anymore. Even adding it to my split ends just leaves me looking greasy. Luckily, my coworker and reviewer Megan has gorgeous thick hair that loves to suck up product like this. Her first impressions of this oil containing eclipta alba, amla oil, and coconut oil was that it's light and smells amazing. She suggests using it only on the ends (even with dry hair) which is good to know even coming from someone with thick hair. She also said it's a good option to skip conditioning if you don't have time. It got rid of her frizzies and flyaways and has quickly become her new favorite hair product!

Erin's Faces Organic Valencia Orange Lip Balm - Retail Value $4.00

There are times when I can get overwhelmed with balms from sub boxes, but it makes sense in this case and I can always give them away or keep them in every corner of my life since I constantly need lip hydration. This one has a really nice citrusy orange scent and hydrates my dried out winter lips well.

Erin's Faces Fair Trade Tinted Lip Balm - Retail Value $6.50

This is the second tinted balm I've received this month but I'm not mad at it at all. I've quickly realized that tinted balms are perfect for a minimal makeup look to add a pop of color without going too heavy. I'm loving the blackberry shade since it's different than my pink pout but still compliments my skin tone.

FitGlow Lumi Firm in Bunny Glow, 5 g - Retail Value $39.00

This highlighter/bronzer is a little darker than I am used to using since I normally go with white or silvery shimmer. This rose gold color was made just for Organic Bunny even though it's available on the FitGlow site as well. It definitely brings warmth to my otherwise pale complexion and will make a great highlighter for Summer!

Swatches of the tinted balm + lumi firm bronzer.

Saint Cosmetics Blessed in Burgundy Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $47.00

I am loving this eyeshadow palette! These are the types of colors I already wear and have a good mix of matte and a little bit of sparkle. I'm really impressed with the pigment of each color and the fallout is non-existent. From top to bottom the colors are "obsessed with peach", praying for pink", heavenly ash", "angels & demons", and "be naughty". The only thing I'm a little unsure of is the brush they chose to include (which seems more like a lip brush to me), but I'll be using some of my own shadow brushes to apply these colors to my lids. So far I'm impressed with these colors and am excited to add it into my cruelty-free and non-toxic makeup collection.

Verdict: Organic Bunny Box really packed in the product this month with nine different items from seven brands that fall under the "clean beauty" umbrella. The palette, tinted balm, and facial scrub were my faves and even though I wasn't able to put the hair oil to use myself, was able to pass it on to someone who ended up loving it. Overall, I could do with fewer products but this is a great way to try many different natural products at once. Whether you're just starting to get interested in non-toxic beauty or are a seasoned pro, there are always new brands to discover.

Please do a makeup look!

Thanks for the feedback, BG! There isn’t always time to get good photos of the products on, so swatches are a quick way to at least give some idea of how they look against my skin. I’ll be sure to keep this in mind though and get some more face photos when I can!

Doesn’t have to be a ‘look’ just like to see the products on.

What!?! Marne, did you just say you could do with fewer products from this box??! Are you starting to feel some product overload? Lol! For how much I pay for this box, I’ll take all the product I can get from it! 😉 I’m by far a quality over quantity girl, but what has always drawn me to Organic Bunny is the quantity of quality products she always includes. It’s rare whenever I feel there’s a filler item in this box, however I know “filler” is a relative term since what’s a filler to me (at times, some of the food products or a dog shampoo that was included last year… that was a weird inclusion for a beauty box. lol) can be an awesome discovery for someone else. This box almost reminds me of being like a green beauty version of Test Tube with the number of quality products included ranging from drugstore to high-end/luxe brands that are both unknown & well-known, and includes a wide variety of products that cover all facets of beauty both inside & out (some of the treats included in the box do make my insides feel good and give me that from within glow after eating them cause I can’t stop smiling cause they taste so good. Lol!).

I thought that bunny box was so incredibly adorable! I’ve kept one of each style of their boxes I’ve received since being subbed (off & on) starting a few years ago, and I’m always happy to see a new design. I was super excited the rose nectar drops were included, because a few years ago I received a sample of it in a Petit Vour box, and fell in love with it, but the sample had no branding (it was in a larger perfume-type vial), and all I could remember was “rose nectar drops” but had no idea what brand it was since I had thrown away the card it came with. I used this directly on my skin, and I think it was my gateway to loving face oils.

I’ve been so disciplined lately on using up certain samples, and just this week I used the last exfoliator packet sample I had (I feel so accomplished 😉 ), so I went through my stash of deluxe exfoliator samples. For now, I only picked the ones that really intrigued me, and the scrub from this box made the cut. After seeing how it looks in your review, I’m even more excited to use it now!

I gifted the makeup highlighter & eyeshadow, but am super excited to try everything else! Thanks for another great review 🙂

Luna – you seem to be a STAR on here! Teetering on the edge about purchasing an April box, but cannot find spoilers ANYWHERE. My skin sucks right now and I worry the more I throw on it (and test), the worse off I will be. But…I also feel like maybe I am missing a holy grail item? I’d love to hear your thoughts on the April box (if you know whats in it)…or if I should just take a leap of faith!

Haha, you got me, Luna!! So many products, not nearly enough time! My girlfriends certainly love coming to my house though. 😉
But you’re right- this box has a great value and is such a great way to explore different brands and products…
Rest assured I love reading your comments as well. Thanks for the suggestions! We are always looking for new content ideas, so it’s great to hear feedback from you as well as the rest of the community on what y’all would like to see!

Luna, has MSA approached you to start doing skincare box reviews yet? If not, they should!

I totally agree Luna, you are so knowledgeable!

Luna

Thanks for the compliment! 🙂
They haven’t reached out to me, but I think I’ve mentioned in comments how I wouldn’t be a good reviewer for their purposes for various reasons, one of the biggest ones is because I like to focus on one product at a time, and it would seriously drive me nuts to have many products opened at one with only a few uses out of them. Lol! I think it’d be fun if MSA had a monthly sub box empties post where reviewers could give full reviews, as opposed to first impression reviews, of products they finished, then readers could talk about their sub box empties in the comments. I’d definitely be willing to review whatever I finished then 🙂
