My Fashion Crate Mystery Box #2 March 2019 Review

Note: If you have been a regular subscriber for the past few months, some of the items you receive may be repeats!

White-Pink Stripe Off the Shoulder Dress by Loveriche, Size L - Listed Value $58

This item is a repeat from the August 2018 box and it is such a perfect lightweight summer dress. Unfortunately, this is one of the items that I've received where the sizing wasn't too great for me. I am 5'7" and it is pretty short on me, so much so, that I can't comfortably wear this out. Fortunately, most of my friends are shorter than me so I shouldn't have too much trouble passing this off to one of them!

Here it is on me from my previous review. My legs are nowhere near this tan right now, so I felt this photo was safer for everyone's eyes! Ha!

Ruffle Tie-Front Cardigan, Size L - Listed Value $58

This cardigan is a repeat from the July 2018 box and I have to admit that I have never actually worn this because originally they sent me a medium and I am more comfortable in a size large when it comes to their clothing which tends to run a bit smaller. I love the way this cardigan looks and the color is perfect for spring so I am happy to have one that fits a little better! Now I need to find a super cute dress to pair it with!

Here are some close-ups of the fun ruffle and knot details.

A.Marie Jewelry Mimi Choker – Retail Value $112.00

This item is from the June 2018 box and I have probably only used this necklace a handful of times since receiving it since I don't usually wear chokers too often. This one is pretty and delicate, made of 24k gold electroplated floral links and is 12” with a 3.75” extender. I think the quality of this is nice and the retail value of this item alone is more than what our mystery box is supposed to be worth, so that's definitely great! I think my little sister will like it so I will most likely be gifting it to her.

Here it is on me. I do like the way it looks a lot more than I remembered - I guess I need to start wearing it more!

Mai Couture Passport Holder in Gold – Retail Value $18

This beautiful passport holder is from the February 2019 box. This is a nice quality passport holder and will actually hold a bit more than just your passport thanks to its generous size.

Mai Couture actually makes makeup papers that you can use to touch up your makeup on the go and store inside of this holder, essentially turning this holder into a makeup case. It even features an elastic strap to ensure that your passport holder remains closed with all of your valuables tucked safely inside.

Deux Lux Bond Wallet in Navy - Retail Value $65

I actually received this exact same wallet in my August 2018 box and another one, but in beige, in my January 2019 Mystery Box, so this one will definitely be gifted! These wallets are so nice looking with that great weave pattern and the gold hardware. Plus, I love that they come in their own little dust bag for storing.

As for the inside, there are so many pockets for organization and my iPhone 7 plus with a case fits inside, although it is definitely a little snug. Since the wallet has a little stretch to it though, it still feels safe enough to keep my phone inside if I need to.

Star Infinity Scarf - Estimated Value $25? (based on this similar scarf in their shop)

This is the first item that is new to me and it is not from any previous boxes that I know of. The sheer fabric is super soft and lightweight and I love the color of the stars. It doesn't feel quite like my style since it seems to be a bit short on my neck, but fortunately, my daughter loved it, so I think she will be the one to rock this one most of the time!

I think she definitely looks cuter in it!

Starlooks Eye Pencil in Presence - Retail Value $12

The last item I received is another new item and one that I haven't seen in a box before. At first, I just assumed it was another black eyeliner like most boxes like to send, but I was pleasantly surprised by this great color! This light, shimmery eyeliner will be perfect for lining the inner corners of my eyes to make them appear brighter. It will also make an excellent under brow highlighter with its narrow shape.

Verdict: Obviously, since I have been receiving this box for almost a year now, I had a lot of repeat items in this My Fashion Crate Mystery Box, however, in comparing it to the other mystery box I received, the only item that was the same was the Deux Lux wallet and even that was a different color than the first one. If you are someone who hasn't been subscribed long or are a new subscriber, I definitely think there is a lot of value in these mystery boxes and the mix of items is great! I estimate the total retail value to be about $348 which is well over the $100 promised value and is fantastic for a $30.95 ($25 +$5.95 shipping) box, even though a third of that value comes from the A.Marie choker. Even with some inflated values, this still averages out to only $4.42 for each of the 7 items!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  Yes! As of now, this box is still available, although the items you receive may vary from mine.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $30.95 ($25 +$5.95) which means you are paying approximately $4.42 for each of the 7 items.

I think that dress while being short looks so nice on you and your daughter is such a cutie pie.

I firmly believe that you receive better items than we do because it’s going to be reviewed on here. I love your reviews, so I gavevthis sub a try. Twice. I did a regular month and a mystery. What a waste of money. I received clothing that was oversizee and incredibly cheap. Just scratchy, gross material. Honestly, I can’t even gift it. I guess I’ll donate it so instead. A wallet would have been nice. Some kind of bag? Who knows. In any case, I wouldn’t recommend at all.

Hi Heidi, thanks for sharing your experience! I’m curious, did you receive the same items I did within your regular monthly box? I just want to make sure I am aware if there are any variations! 🙂

Heidi Mathey

No. Completely different items.

Kellie

I actually had quite a few items in mine. I had two clothing items, a make up item, the passport folio, a make up container, and one other item ( I forgot what it was). But I felt like for the price it was fine.

I ordered this same mystery box in a size small. I only received four items, all of which seemed rather frazzled and toss asides so I feel like this sub sends MSA better quality mystery boxes so that the review can be positive. The normal boxes are pretty good but I think the mystery box is a definite bait and switch.

I ordered the last mystery box and had the same experience. I received less items than the MSA review and my items were the lower quality items!

I feel like sometimes they send you better items since they know it’s for a review! Mine had cheap leggings, cheap top, awful cheap nail stickers, boring little lip balm….it had one of the card holders that was nice but overall was kind of junky!

Good to know that they send the reviewers a much better box. I can save some money. Thank you to the people who posted that info. Review was good and if I received that $348 box I’d be writing a positive review too.

I agree, katie! Thanks to everyone for posting your experience! I’m sorry if it wasn’t quite the same as mine 😔 , but everyone letting us know is great for transparency within the community, so please keep sharing! ❤
