Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, 0.5 fl oz - Estimated Value $37.64 (Buy a full size 1.7 oz here for $128.00)

I have heard good things about this brand but I have always ended up picking different brands over it, for no real reason. I am glad a generous sample came in this month's bag. The formula is supple and moisturizing, absorbing instantly into my skin. This is a day cream, so wearing it under my makeup was a must before I could decide how I felt about it for sure. It pretty much left my skin perfectly primed for foundation, and all of my makeup stayed on top of this without becoming slippy or weird all day. That is winning in my book! My skin felt really hydrated and happy all day too. My only complaint is that this formula doesn't have SPF and I am kind of a stickler for that.

Perricone MD Cold Plasma Plus+ Neck & Chest, 5 ml - Estimated Value $15.00 (Buy a full size 30 ml here for $89.99)

You guys know I love Perricone MD! No bells and whistles with this brand, just super effective formulas, and high-quality ingredients. I like to refer to this brand as a "skincare nerd" brand. This cream is meant to be used on your neck to help erase some of those creases that form on your neck. Mine aren't bad yet, but, give 'em time! This formula contains Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), which is a fatty acid found in the body that helps your skin stay tight and firm. It is also really easily absorbable, which bodes well for this formula. This is one of those that will take some time to work, so hopefully, this sample holds out long enough to see a difference.

The lines in question!

Grande Cosmetics GrandeMASCARA Lash Boosting Formula, 2.5 g - Estimated Value $10.42 (Buy a full size 6 g here for $25.00)

I absolutely love Grande Lips, though probably more for the gloss and formula feel, over the plumping. I was excited to try this mascara out and intrigued by the clear (!) sample tube. I can't say that I have ever seen what goes on inside a tube of mascara. This is likely for the best because I have been guilty of using a mascara way past the idea throw out date and maybe no one needs to see that.. ANYWAYS, this formula was ok. It did add a ton of length to my lashes, but not so much volume. It wasn't the smoothest. It stayed on all day just fine but was not a WOW for me.

RealHER Moisturizing Lipstick in 'Mauve', 3.5 g - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $18.00

YAAAAS. This is a Megan color! I love this soft pink and the moisturizing satin finish is just great! I love layering it with a nice gloss for a really sweet neutral lip. I am also thrilled this lipstick is full size! Just with this one item, you have over the bags value price. That feels good. I also love the girl-power vibes from the chic black and white packaging.

Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water, 1.35 fl oz  - Estimated Value $6.12 (Buy a full size 10.15 oz here for $46.00)

This was the swap item. According to our booklet, it should have been Winky Lux Disco Gloss in 'Far Out Blue'.

This might be an unpopular option, but I just can't get excited about makeup removers. I double cleanse in the shower or oil cleanse alone, so I just don't even need them. This one is fine and does remove makeup easily. I just have no real need for it. The formula boasts 6 essential herbs and is alcohol-free.

Macys Beauty Box April 2019 perfume Macys Beauty Box April 2019 perfume open

Givenchy L’Interdit Eau de Parfum, 1 ml - Estimated Value $1.38 (Buy a full size 80 ml here for $110.00)

On paper, I should love this perfume. I should ADORE it. But I don't. Notes of orange blossom, jasmine, vetiver, and patchouli? Doesn't that sound like something I would love!? For me, it just lacks depth, and honestly, it just doesn't smell very distinct in a sea of other better choices. It feels a little too old school and stuffy.

Verdict: This month's Macy’s Beauty Box was full of interesting things! I, of course, loved the lipstick and ANYTHING by Perricone MD makes me a very happy girl. I am glad I got to try some Elemis cream and will be on the lookout for this brand in future boxes. The mascara wasn't a break out product for me, but I had been curious about it so I am glad I can put that one to bed. I was let down by the product swap because I probably would have liked a lip gloss tons more than the makeup remover, and the perfume was a big clear no for me. Even though I had some clear misses this month, I can't complain about a thing because even if I had only liked that lipstick, the value was already taken care of! Technically, this box has a value of $88.56, though with only one full-size product it didn't feel quite that hefty. I still think this month was a pretty great value for $15.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I feel like Macy’s is the hidden gem in the sub boxes. Ive never had a problem w/CS when I call they are always generous in the response. You cant beat the price for what you get with the products, make up bag and coupon.

Thank you. That’s good to know. I’m new to the Macy’s box. I called to get some clarification about something and did not have a good experience with CS at all. Maybe I’m just off to a rough start. I’ll stick it out and see.

Reyna

Wow…! I had NO idea that Macy’s carried the real her and winky lux brands. Strange to me imo, very strange.

Teresa

I was really looking forward to the Winky Lux item 😢

I’m considering the Macy’s box. I just wish their were spoilers for it. I have decided to skip Allure for the month of May. I would really like options on the Macy’s box please.

missann

This box looks interesting I might try it for a few months.

I use makeup wipes to remove my eye makeup and lipstick before washing my face. The package of wipes always starts drying out when there is still half left, so I pour the micellar water into the container. I’ve noticed if I use water, they mold. So far the micellar water hasn’t resulted in mold.

Kris

Thanks for great idea, Cina!! I will definitely be trying that one out!!

GENIUS. I am going to have to try this.

Christy

I’d much rather have this than Allure this month.

Ditto! I just signed up for the Macy’s box a few days ago. I don’t know what I’m missing in the FAQS but I was unclear about what month I will be getting the Macy’s box, May or June? Someone here MSA commented that since I subbed after the 10th, it would probably be June. Since I noticed an actual charge already, I decided to call and ask! Good grief! I think I’ve made a mistake! CS sucks! It took me 5 calls to get someone to understand what I was asking! Not kidding! The last call was over 15 minutes and 3 transfers?! Even then I had to dumb it down 3 different times for this person! 🙄 Then I was put on hold, then told that the reason I was charged is because I signed up for it. 😲 No duh? But when will my 1st box be? Hold please. Then I was told that because they have enough stock, I will be getting my 1st Macy’s box in May and that I should keep my eye out for the shipping email. I will and I will be watching my account to make sure I don’t get charged a second time at the beginning of May. I’m happy I’m getting the May box as I have skipped the month of May for Allure. No spoilers for the May Macy’s box yet but I’m guessing it’s better than Allure. I don’t know how I’m going to like it. I still think the allure box generally has a higher value though.

Their CS has absolutely NO IDEA about the monthly boxes. I changed credit cards and it ended up suspending my account, even though both of the cards were valid. I tried to call them about it and was transferred around for an hour and finally told me i need to go to the store to cancel it. I gave up.

Chantel

Glad you actually got april, I got August of 2018 and am really upset. They refuse to send me the correct one and refused to cancel my subscription. Terrible customer service. The products were old and leaky and disgusting. I’m very disappointed.

Rebecca

I don’t know why, but I posted a question, and it never showed up.

My question is, does the $5 coupon give you free shipping by any chance? Macy’s used to do free shipping on all orders containing at least one beauty item, but they stopped doing that this year. The closest Macy’s to me is two hours away, so I am unlikely to ever use the coupon in-store.

Thank you!

Reply ButtonReply

Whyn

You can also have it shipped to a store near you and pick it up for free. That’s how I get around the shipping price.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Nearest store is two hours away 🙁

Luna

It’s my understanding that you’ll only get free shipping below a $49(?) purchase if you are a Macy’s card holder.

Reply ButtonReply

Paula

I’m not super impressed, but I liked it alright. I think I’m tired of lipsticks and mascara so that sorta kills the box for me.

I’m tempted to cancel every month, but I can’t bring myself to do it. It’s a unique box and I love the beautiful bags they include.

For those that get this box can u use two months gift cards at the same time on one item. I notice this one expires 5/31 so can u wait u til u receive Mays $5 and use both together?
These are nice boxes especially for only $15 but i would be in way too much trouble if i had to go to Macys every month to use my coupon/gift card cuz we all know that the $5 isnt going far there lol.

Reply ButtonReply

Heathers

Thank you Christina and Anna for answering my question. And Anna that was a great use of the $5 coupon. Im not a big lip product person and can see me spending way more money than necessary just to get my $5 gc used. But a great idea non the less.
This is a great community to answer anyones questions ❤️

I used mine on a $10 MAC mini Lipstick (so I paid $5 for it). Was my first MAC lipstick and man it lives up to the hype!

Reply ButtonReply

Christina

No. You can only use one at a time. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Trish

I wish I could get this box. It looks great. If I sign up now though, I’d get May 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Does the $5 coupon also give free shipping on beauty items? Macy’s used to have free shipping on all orders containing at least one beauty item, but they quit doing that this year. The closest Macy’s to me is two hours away, so I probably wouldn’t use the coupon if I had to hit their minimum amount to get free shipping. Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

No, my shipping wasn’t free even when I use coupon

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

Thank you!

And sorry for having to post twice. My second post was delayed, too, so I guess maybe my comment was being moderated (in which case I should have been more patient)!

Lingzi

I like it when moisturizers don’t have SPF because they won’t be as good as actual sunscreens.

I was very happy with this month’s box, and was so happy to have received the micellar water instead of the Winky Lux product which would have been gifted. I recently finished using up all of the packets of the Koh Gen Do makeup wipes I had accumulated, and I really liked them, and am guessing the micellar water will perform just as well. The only thing was that the booklet was missing from my box so no coupon for me this month. 🙁 I guess it’s for the best anyways, because that would have just made me go to the store solely to use it which would have just cost me more money. Hopefully next month! lol

Reply ButtonReply

MM

Mine was missing one of the 10 coupons that they do from time to time and when I contacted CS, they put a 10 credit on my file for future use PLUS refunded me the cost of the box that month, telling me to keep the box… so I basically got $25 and a free box of products. I think that was unusually generous and doubt it is average though.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

No booklet is a bummer Luna! I totally get it being a blessing in disguise though. I always give mine to a friend because of all the people on earth I absolutely do not need to be shopping for products.. though.. I mean I totally could..

Reply ButtonReply

Luna

Girl I’m like you… I have absolutely no business shopping for beauty products, but what’s the first thing I want to do when I get a coupon from a Macy’s or Target box or Play pass??? go to each store to scope out the latest & greatest lotions & potions to slather on my face (being a skincare geek those are the only products I ever look at. lol).

Rebecca

Yeah, if I got this box, I’d have preferred the micellar water to the Winky Lux product.

Reply ButtonReply

CHRISTA

I was missing the booklet with the coupon as well. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Sam

I’ve been very impressed with Macy’s past few boxes. I may switch from Allure to this one.

Reply ButtonReply

amber

They swapped out a really neat gloss for a boring makeup remover? I’d be pissed

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I def prefer lipgloss, but at least the remover is a good size for travel.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna Putnam

Yeah I would have much rather have the glos. I also didn’t like that their insert insisted I would LOVE their replacement. That made finding that water even worse.
