Lip Monthly April 2019 Review

This month's it looks like there is no official theme, but they did revert back to their old model of listing the products and their retail values on the card, which I think I prefer! The included lippies are sent with spring in mind.

Each month, Lip Monthly sends their products in a little makeup bag and this months bag is a nice bright pink with cute little clouds all over and a pale pink zipper. The bag is small, just a bit bigger than my iPhone plus (which doesn't fit inside) and is made of soft material.

Hikari Iridescent Lip Gloss in Stiletto - Retail Value $19

The first product is this iridescent lip gloss from Hikari. I think this iridescent color is so pretty! I was a little worried about the orange in it but since the base is more pink, it only comes across as a tint of orange so I think it worked!

Here is a closeup of how pretty it looks in the tube.

This gloss glides on so smoothly and is lightweight with a lot of shine. The iridescence gives it a slightly sparkly, metallic look in the light.

Be a ... Bombshell Lip Crayon in Trophy Wife - Retail Value $8

I love lip crayons, but this always seems to happen to me whenever I get one in the mail. It gets squished into the top and comes out, but luckily this is usually an easy fix, which was the case here. I was hopeful that this would be a nice sheen of pink, but this one was more opaque and had more of a frosted look on my lips.

I would describe the color as a metallic pastel pink. It glides on smoothly and is comfortable on my lips, and it lasted a few hours before wearing down. I think it's a fun spring color!

Bellapierre Kiss Proof Lip Creme in Nude - Retail Value $20

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed to see a nude shade at first because I can not pull them off. Especially when I saw they also sent out fun shades like coral, but this was actually a nice surprise. This matte nude has a little bit more pink in it and was actually pretty close to my natural lip color but just a tad darker.

This one goes on creamy and smooth, is very lightweight, and dries down pretty quickly, but it does leave a tacky feeling. Adding some lip balm over the top did help with that. Although I didn't enjoy the stickiness, it was incredibly long lasting, so I will be wearing this. It stayed on all through my workout and dinner, which is pretty impressive!

Here I have it with a swipe of the Hikari gloss on top which helped the color pop a bit more and also helped with the tackiness!

The combination also made for some fun kisses! Since the Hikari was not as long-lasting, this wiped off her forehead easily, although once she discovered it, she asked for some more kisses. Silly girl!

Here they are swatched. In order from top to bottom, they are Bellapierre, Hikari, and Be a Bombshell.

Lasting Smiles Organic Lip Balm in Passionfruit Mango - Listed Value $4 (It looks like this is sold out everywhere online or else no longer carried by retailers!)

The last item we received is this passionfruit mango lip balm and while it is unflavored, I can definitely smell both of these scents. This formula is free of gluten, parabens, petrolatum, phthalates, is vegetarian, and contains no artificial colors. Even better, the purchase of this organic lip balm helps fund cleft surgeries for children! (Learn more about their cause here) It is moisturizing with shea and cocoa butter as well as coconut, jojoba oil, and vitamin E, but something about this balm seems to irritate my throat for some reason.

Verdict: This was a pretty good Lip Monthly bag this month. While some of the colors gave me pause at first, I think they all ended up working pretty well for me. I was really impressed with how long the Bellapierre formula lasted, and I think the Hikari is a fun one. I actually wore the Bombshell crayon yesterday and it felt like the perfect spring color with its pastel pink. With a total retail value of $51 for a $12.95 subscription, I can't complain!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I have two Bellepierre in that color and an Urban Decay that is exactly the same shade. I must be drawn to it. It looks great on you!

I received this one for only $5 as a special promo. So for $5, it was an unbelievable deal. However, I did cancel as all the products were made in China. I do not use skincare and makeup made in China. I cancelled many sub boxes when their skincare/makeup items were becoming too Made in China heavy. These will make wonderful gifts and trades so they will go to good homes.

The nude lipstick looks beautiful with the gloss on top! Total winner!

PS. You should totally try the Curly Girl Method with your daughter!

Thanks, Heidi! 🙂 And I have heard of that! I’ll have to look more into it! Lately she has taken to brushing her own hair with a soft brush and the result sure is something! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thanks, Jen! 🙂 I’m not always familiar with the brands either, but the colors always seem to work somehow, although sometimes they do work better layered with another color!
