Gentleman’s Box April 2019 “Triple Threat” Review
This month the honoree is none other than Mr. Jamie Foxx. This bodes well for me because I love bold colors and prints, but my husband Will is a classic and simple kind of guy. Hopefully there are some winners here for him!
Included as a freebie bonus this month is this truly gorgeous card. It is letterpressed (YES!) and so strikingly simple and pretty.
Unek Label Tie – Listed Value $35.00
Ouch. This pink is going to be a hard sell for my man. Luckily, I have a dad who LOVES bold ties and this would be a welcome addition to his collection. I personally love the pink color and the blue, black, and pink dots. It is a skinnier width, so it feels fun and very modern.
Gentleman’s Essentials Cufflinks – Listed Value $25.00
I quite like these bullseye cufflinks and they have a great heavier weight to them. These are clean and classic and I could absolutely see Will stashing these away for a special occasion. The shiny silver and bold black enamel should go with many different looks.
R. Culturi Tie Bar – Listed Value $25.00
This arrow style tie bar is very pretty and makes a great addition to a formal look. I like the shiny gold finish, though with the silver cufflinks included this month it might have been nice for the metals to match.
SockBox Socks – Listed Value $12.00
These were also a hard pass for Will, and I have to admit that they might even be a little too “fun” for me as well. There is just a lot going on here between the hot pink and the super bold geometric pattern. Quality-wise, they feel great! The cotton/nylon/poly/spandex blend is breathable and sturdy without being too hot.
Alessi Eyewear Aviator Sunglasses – Listed Value $30.00
Will does love a good pair of aviators and these fit his face really well. They feel pretty sturdy for such thin frames and will absolutely be on his face most of the summer, with or without a suit!
Verdict: So Gentleman’s Box might have been way out of my husband’s comfort zone this month, but the included items were solid if you prefer bold color and prints! The quality of the items is great. My dad will love the tie and I might see if he is brave enough for the socks, though they might be too much for even him. The cufflinks and sunglasses were wins for Will, and he liked the tie bar enough to hold onto it. I kept the letterpress card myself. The total listed value of this box is $127, which is great for the $29 box cost. This subscription would be perfect for a guy who wears suits frequently or every day at work and loves unique and bold accessories. You basically have all the accessories you need in one box for a complete look at a great price point. Can’t beat that!
