DAILYLOOK is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service similar to Stitch Fix, Wantable Style Edit, and Trunk Club. When you sign up, you take an in-depth survey about your sizes, your style, and your pricing preferences. Your stylist hand picks items based on your preferences. Garments generally range from $50-$300.

Before your box ships, DAILYLOOK sends you a preview to your inbox, where you can remove up to 3 items per shipment and let them know why. If you do remove items, they'll select different ones to send you in that box, but you won't have the chance to preview them before they arrive. You also have the option of looking through their website and favoriting items that they will consider adding to your boxes. Their outfits are styled a variety of ways, and it's seriously so much fun to browse through them and make notes.

The fee for this service is $40, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $40 fee from the total. You can skip a month anytime.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

DAILYLOOK April 2019 Review

Inside the shipping box, this signature blue box holds your clothes. When you take the lid off, you're greeted with an envelope.

Inside is a note from my stylist with instructions on what to do next, and a shipping label for any items I might want to return.

My stylist's name is Veronica, and she wrote me a note about why she chose to include some of the items in my box, as well as some styling suggestions. For those of you who missed my first DAILYLOOK review last month (you can see it here), I'll share again that in my survey I mentioned that I'm a new mother, and that I feel the rumblings of my personal style changing but that I'm not sure where it's going yet. I shared with Veronica that I'm breastfeeding, so tops and dresses with buttons, crop tops (to be worn with high-waisted pants and skirts and pulled up for nursing), and other types of creatively accessible garments are the types of garments I'm looking to explore. I'll also reiterate from last month that my goal in subscribing to DAILYLOOK isn't to overhaul my entire wardrobe—I still have a lot of pieces in my closet that I love and feel great wearing—it's more as a way of trying out styles someone else has selected with my preferences and needs in mind, to expose me to garments I might not have otherwise reached for myself. Depending on what I receive each month—how much I like it and how well it fits into my current selection—I expect to keep 1-3 pieces per month.

Under the clothes in my box, I found a packing slip that lists each item and the price it would cost to keep each. I received a total of 8 items this month, which two fewer than last month but honestly felt a bit more manageable. They also send along a return shipping bag (though if you want to return more than fits in the bag, you can return your items in the box they arrived in). You have five days to decide what you'd like to keep or return. Once I decided, I headed over to my online account to let DAILYLOOK know which items I'd be keeping vs. returning. It also gave me the opportunity to provide feedback on what I liked and disliked, with chances to rate the fit, style, quality, and more. For every item you choose to return, you must select at least one reason you didn't like it. While last month my feedback was mostly that I didn't feel the quality matched the price, this month I mostly gave feedback on why certain items that I almost kept didn't make the cut in the end. Once you've finalized your decisions and checked out, you have 7 days to return the items you're sending back using the provided shipping bag and pre-paid label.

Okay, ready to see what I got in my second-ever DAILYLOOK box?

Sanctuary Buffalo Plaid Shirt Dress - Cost to Keep: 138 (found on sale here for $99)

This first item was one of the almost-there garments I was sent this month. I had seen an image of it in my box preview and didn't expect to love it as much as I did. The material was so soft and beautifully drapey. My box arrived on a Saturday morning and I tried this on right away, and my first thought was, "Welp, I'm dressed for the day!" What I loved about it was how easy to wear it was, as well as how flattering its front wrap accent looked. What made me not ultimately keep it is that it really isn't in my color scheme. I hemmed and hawed over this being the reason I sent it back for a long time—as long as I possibly could before my check-out deadline came—because the whole point of my subscribing to this box is to try new things! But, I told myself I would set boundaries for my wardrobe and I have to follow them so I don't end up with a closet bursting with items I don't wear (for the 10th time in life). If this were a warm, earthy tone or a solid color, I would probably be wearing it today for the 3rd day in a row, haha!

Velvet by Graham & Spencer Striped V-Neck Tee - Cost to Keep: $108

Next, I tried on this knit top. It's another piece that pleasantly surprised me! I didn't realize I needed a navy-and-white striped, knit top, but apparently I did, because I actually have worn this thing three days in a row, including the first day it arrived! Now that I'm a breastfeeding mother and wearing separates much more regularly than I am dresses, I am finding that the tops section of my closet needs some love. I have either wild-and-crazy statement pieces or solid basics, but not much in the middle. I like that there's a little volume in the sleeve, and I especially loved the way it balanced out my fun pants. The color scheme is kind of contradictory to my complaint about the blue shirt dress above, but the clincher was that this top felt great with pieces I already have in my wardrobe.

Warp + Weft MXP High Rise Skinny, Dark Blue - Cost to Keep: $98

I also love how the top looks with these dark-wash skinnies that came in my box this month. I wasn't really looking for skinny jeans—I'm happy with my current pants situation—but these ones were crazy comfortable so they snuck their way into my "keep" pile. I am a firm believer in non-stretch jeans because I love the way they break in and last a long time, but these high-waisted jeans are very stretchy and still won me over. It just goes to show you how great a clothing subscription box can be for learning what styles are right for you! Other pros of these jeans are that I thought they looked flattering from behind and I like the length a lot—it's rare that jeans hit my short legs where they're meant to.

Warp + Weft MXP High Rise Skinny, Black - Cost to Keep: $98

Next up is the same jeans but in a different color and with some distressing added in. These jeans were part of a look that I added to my favorites on my DAILYLOOK account. Veronica was excited that she could send them to me! But, they didn't end up working out. Despite being the same silhouette and size as the dark wash skinnies, they seemed to fit my waist a little tighter and squeezed me a bit. I also have 2 pairs of black skinnies that I like and wear often, so the bar was set higher for this pair.

Dixie Plaid Shirt - Cost to Keep: $78

I wasn't sold on this plaid button up when I saw it in my preview but thought I'd give it a try anyway. It was soft and fit comfortably, but just isn't my style. Plain and simple.

Surplice Front Fuzzy Pullover - Cost to Keep: $68

This fuzzy sweater is the second item in this months' DAILYLOOK box that was part of an outfit I favorited in my account. It looked so effortless on the model, and I thought its surplice neckline would be well suited to breastfeeding! I didn't find it flattering on myself, though. I didn't like how it accentuated one of my breasts, and also the hemline was in-between cropped and full length on me, so it hit my hips at an unflattering place. On top of all that, it was a little too low-cut for my liking, plus I really don't need a new warm sweater going into spring. I was glad I had the chance to try it but didn't feel too sad when it didn't work out.

Maya Striped Culotte - Cost to Keep: $108

The last garment in this month's DAILYLOOK box were these black-and-white striped culottes. I almost kept them because I love this silhouette of pants and wear it often, and don't have any with a pattern on them, but they didn't fit me well. The front accentuated my postpartum belly, the hips pulled a bit, and the stretchy material wasn't very soft.

Bonus: Theo 70% Dark Chocolate Bar with Sea Salt

This was a pleasant surprise! I LOVE dark chocolate and even better yet when it's organic. The sea salt was a nice touch. I devoured this immediately, haha!

Verdict: This was my second DAILYLOOK box and I already feel as though I'm forming a great relationship with my stylist. She gave me a combo of items that appeared in outfits I favorited and some new ones for me to try. The best of both clothing subscription box concepts! This month I surprised myself by the two items I decided to keep: the striped, knit top and the dark wash skinny jeans. I didn't know I needed these pieces but I love them and have already acquainted them into my wardrobe! For next month, I reiterated to Veronica that I hope to see more earthy tones present in the selection.

To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? You can sign up for your first month's box now, but your selections will look different than mine.

Value Breakdown: For $40 a month, I received ten styles that came to $657 in retail value. I can keep or return any of the pieces with free shipping both ways! If I do keep anything, the $40 styling fee will be deducted from my order.

that olive button tunic – I’m assuming it’s from your closet already?
where did you find it? I love it! great review, love the skinnies and the striped tee too.

Yes, it’s something I already owned! My mum brought it back from me from a boutique in Key West—it doesn’t even have a tag in it. 🙂 But I’ve seen similar styles on the Mexicali Blues website, you might have some luck poking around there!

/1A striped t-shirt for $108?!?!?

I would argue that it’s not a T-shirt since it’s made of a nice knit, and has a little added volume in the sleeves, but still, I hear you! I didn’t mention this in my review, but this top is from the brand Velvet, which I have seen at Anthropologie and Nordstrom, so it justified the price a bit for me.

Girrrrl – I don’t know what postpartum belly you are seeing lol! It seriously does not exist!
N I love that you love culottes! I am soooo happy that the “skinny” everything decade (or even longer) is finally over and wide leg silhouettes are back! I’ve always said the skinny leg thing makes me look like an upside down Christmas tree (and there is no universe where that’s attractive lol) so it’s a been a struggle for way too long to find any pants or longer shorts.
Great review btw, and you have such a light-up-the-room smile!

Oh gosh, you flatter me, haha. It’s funny the parts of ourselves that we feel are glaringly unflattering, and then someone else doesn’t see it at all. Thank you for your kind words and cheers to the return of wide-leg silhouettes!
