Collections by Joya April 2019 Review

Collections by Joya includes a card in each month's box featuring a model style with several items from their collection. The look is always beautiful and makes me want to dress up!

On the back is an advertisement for their new showroom at Coterie in New York. It's set up like a postcard so you can send it along to a friend to spread the word about this amazing brand if you so wish!

Each month's jewelry comes tucked in a canvas pouch. I have built up a collection of pouches now, but they're great for packing accessories when you travel, for gift-giving, and more. Here's what came inside my pouch this month:

My eyes are popping out of my head! The two pairs of earrings and necklace that were sent to me this month are absolutely stunning. On first impression, there isn't a single piece I don't adore. Yay!

Rumi Convertible Earrings — Retail Value $48.95

These hammered brass earrings do it all! Displayed on their card, they look like lovely geometric earrings that dangle from a post. Pull the back off and you'll find that the ovular part hanging down is removable, so you can wear this pair either as shown on the card or simply as studs. Genius! As is the case with most Joya jewelry, the hammering is only on one side, so if you want to switch it up further you could even flip the ovals around to showcase the smooth side, offering a mix and match appearance. So cool!

These earrings are a great size no matter how they're worn. I'm more likely to wear them with their dangly parts attached because I like a little extra somethin' in the earring arena, but even in their full glory, they are a nice balance between offering oomph without being overbearing. Speaking of travel, this might just be the consummate travel earring what with their styling options and versatility.

Jenessa Earrings — Retail Value $68.95

These hammered brass earrings are so romantic. Each long, creased part dangling from its round post reminds me of a flower petal blossoming out from the center. Just lovely!

I think they go absolutely perfectly with the sweater I was wearing that day, but they would also be gorgeous dressed up. They're simple but unique, so they would complete a minimalist look just as well as a more detailed one.

Starburst Pendant Necklace - Lapis — Retail Value $68.95

Ooooh, I've had my eye on this necklace on the Joya site for some time now! They also carry earrings with this amazing radiant motif, but something about this shape floating within a neckline seemed so appealing to me. And that's saying something since you all know I'm an earring-lover! I have been waiting and waiting to receive something with lapis in it in my subscription box—you've seen me unbox so much labradorite that I've learned to love it, but there's no denying the rich blue hue (which is not done justice in my photos) is special.

Here I'm wearing the necklace to one of the middle settings along its adjustable chain. I am so thrilled to style it with all sorts of outfits this summer!

And, finally, the classic Joya gift box and ribbon, to be used for any pieces you'd like to pass along to a friend.

Verdict: Joya may always be my favorite subscription box, but not every month is as big of a hit as this one was! I received three pieces I can see myself wearing over and over again, on all sorts of occasions. I'm extremely happy with what I was sent!

This box costs $49.95, including free shipping. The two pairs of earrings and necklace add up to $186.85, which, as always, is an amaaaaazing deal.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Order by 5/8 to get the May box!

Value Breakdown: At $49.95 for this box, here is what you're paying approximately per item:

  • Rumi Convertible Earrings: $13.06
  • Jenessa Earrings: $18.43
  • Starburst Pendant Necklace: $18.43

Alternatively, each piece of jewelry has an average cost of $16.65.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

I made a comment on last month’s post, but I don’t think it *actually* posted, so here it is again: I love your reviews – they’re so thoughtful…and also, you have such a kind, genuine smile. Love it!

All 3 of these pieces are gorgeous. If I could be guaranteed a box like this I’d absolutely subscribe, but looking back over the last half dozen or so the items in the box are more miss than hit for me, so I can’t justify the price. Maybe I’ll just buy a few full price pieces I like from the site in exchange for saving the money of a subscription. One quibble with the site though – none of the pieces are shown on a model so it’s really hard to tell how they’ll look on. It’s helpful to see them on you.

I agree that if you like certain pieces but not most, then just buying them off the site would be a worthwhile investment!! 🙂
