PUR Cosmetics Festival Pressed Pigment Palette - Retail Value $36.00

All subscribers will receive this item.

This palette is everything I would expect from a festival themed palette. It has a ton of hazy desert sunset colors, a couple of insanely bright options, and two straight up flakey glitter pans. Aside from the pink, purple, and glitters, this is actually a pretty wearable palette for everyday use. Those warm burnt orange tones work on many different skin types, especially when applied with a lighter hand. All of these shadows had a decent enough color payoff, though I was surprised with how sheer that crazy purple was without applying a lot of it. The glitters are legit chunks and flakes of glitter in a clear binding. They really scream Coachella to me! This isn't my type of palette, but I will admit that it was much more versatile than I expected from the spoilers.

Luxie Summer Daze Brush Set - Retail Value $28.00

I also got a brush set last month, but I was happy these were two shadow brushes and a contour option. These were designed especially for this box and coordinate with the palette perfectly. I like the summer vibes of the ombre handles and the brushes themselves have a great weight and the bristles are fluffy and dense. There s a contour brush, a medium eyeshadow brush, and a small rounded eyeshadow brush.

Starlooks Cosmetics Eye Pencil - Retail Value $19.00

This is a variant item.

Wow! Compared to that palette, this eye pencil is downright demure! I actually had a hard time getting a decent swatch because the look is so sheer, yet shiny. This 'Cosmic' color is a super subtle iced lavender. I actually quite like it! As an eyeliner, it is very soft and just adds a little extra glisten to my lids. It kind of looks like a sweet sterling silver and is very ladylike. You can also use this around the bottom of your lash line or in the corner of your eyes.

Artist Couture Diamond Glow Powder - Retail Value $27.00

All subscribers will receive this item.

Every time I think I am sick of highlighters I get another one I love. If I complain about the abundance of them in the future, remind me of this review. This power is fantastic. You can apply it directly to your face with your favorite brush (the contour brush included this month works great!) or my favorite summertime trick is to add powders like this directly into my favorite BB or CC cream then apply with a brush. It gives a glow from within sort of look and I always get compliments on my skin. This particular shade is a soft spun gold and thankfully doesn't look at all yellow on my skin. It gives a sheer wash of warmth and shine, in the best way. The container itself is very clever and allows you to seal the powder below the sifter when you aren't using it. No more powder explosions!

Butter London Power Up All Day Wear Mascara - Retail Value $20.00

This is a variant item.

I didn't have high hopes for this mascara because of the type of brush, but, of course, I loved it. It did a great job of separating and coating each of my lashes and was more of a volume than a lengthening sort of formula, though I did get a little length. It wore well all day without flaking and kept the curl of my lashes intact. The color is a dark, true black. My only gripe is that it does leave behind some residue, even after double cleansing. I use a balm to remove the leftovers though.

Boxy Charm April 2019 eye primer Boxy Charm April 2019 eye primer back

EXTRA SAMPLE: PUR Endurance Eyeshadow Primer, 0.05 oz - Estimated Value $3.33 (Buy 0.3 oz for $20.00)

This sample came along with our palette. I would highly recommend something like this if you feel brave enough to wear those glitters! It will really help keep those flakes in place on your lid and out of your eyes. Which would, like, really hurt. It will also keep your shadow game strong all day and night so you can dance to all those bands you love without melting. This cream coats your lids and provides a (just barely) tacky base to latch on to your look

Verdict: Boxycharm is always one of those boxes I look forward to, even if the spoilers don't excite me or the theme is "off" for my tastes. (I never go to festivals!) But I always still eagerly await it because the products are so good that I know they are more than worth the experimentation and this box consistently delivers on value. Though this palette has some colors I would personally never, ever wear, the majority are quite pretty and work well for my more natural looks when I use them lightly. The brushes are a welcome addition to my kit as these are better than my other shadow brushes and I actually don't think I still own a contour brush. The highlighter s my JAM and the eye pencil was surprisingly sweet and totally wearable. The mascara was another big hit, though I am not sure it tops my fave Clinique formula. The retail value of this box is just over $130 which is an awesome value for a $21.00 box!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up now, the April FOMO box will be your first box. Click here to see exactly what you'll receive.

I can’t find what’s in the April FOMO box. Anybody have any ideas? I’m a long-term subscriber that canceled this last month and I’m thinking I probably want to resubscribe to get mays box but not sure about what’s coming in the FOMO box… And when do I resubscribe just to get may’s box?

Am I the only one that didn’t receive the Pur primer sample in their box? I wanted to give it a try with the glitter eyeshadow because when I put it on without any primer, the glitter ended up all over my face by the end of the day and as so hard to was off my face. It was still floating around my face the following 2 days after washing several times! I only put a tiny bit on my eyelid too. I wanted to like this shadow palette, but unfortunately it was a big miss for me ☹

Renee

The primer sample was in the box with the shadow palette, prepacked by Pur. I imagine some got missed I get half full products a lot, it’s frustrating I know. 🙁

Dani

I didn’t get the primer sample either. I’m not surprised though. I got variation #14 so maybe by then they ran out? They could’ve thrown us some points instead. Of course I haven’t received my charms order I placed 6 weeks ago, so that probably wouldn’t be much of a replacement for the primer. I’m so frustrated with Boxy but I’m holding out for the remote chance I’ll be able to get the skincare box. If I don’t I think that will be it for me and Boxy.

Boxycharm has been killing it these past few months and I hate to complain but this box was a miss for me… I wanted to love the Pur Pallette but unfortunately it was a bust… The colors didn’t hold up and glitter was all over my face… The highlighter is nice, I just like lighter colors. The brushes aren’t that bad and I haven’t tried the mascara… I hope they give my skin or hair care products next month. Gave the box to my 16 year old daughter
she loves it… It isn’t that bad

Got my box yesterday. Variation 17. 17!!! Remember when there were, maybe, three variations? That being said, I like this month’s box more than I thought I would. The palette is a lot more wearable than I thought it would be, and I especially like the shimmers on the top role. The highlighter is BEAUTIFUL, and would be great added to some body lotion and rubbed all over. I haven’t used the brushes, but they look nice. The Butter London mascara is pretty decent. I will have to wear it another time before I say it’s flaky or not. The Bodyology bronze eyeliner is not my favorite, but it goes on a lot smoother if you sharpen it because the exposed pencil is hard. It’s not my favorite, but fine, and it matches the palette.

My box just arrived. I was actually excited for the box and now that I have it I love it. I received the same items as the reviewer (Megan) except my eyeliner color is “Celestial” which is almost like a green. It reminds me of the glow-in-the-dark greenish. Super subtle. Butter London mascara is actually my favorite everyday mascara so I’m looking forward to trying it. Like most people I was not excited when the palette showed as the spoiler but then I watched a few videos of folks creating every day looks with it. I doubt I will ever use the glitter shades but there are only 2 of them so there are 10 shades left to try.
I didn’t think I’d use the diamond glow powder but then someone suggested using it with my body lotion for a subtle glow. I had tried something like that at bath and body works and loved it so looks like the entire box is a hit.

I was very disappointed i got a repet of items i already had the pallet i think they could do much better than this its like boxylux shou l d be a major upgrade and its not its no better

Glad to hear it was a winner for you Zo! I feel like we had a similar experience. The glitter shadow s where I draw the line too though!

Worst box yet! I normally love at least one product from my box but not this one. As I applied the glittery eye shadow, glittery eye liner and glittery highlighter I started to wonder if this box was meant to come out around Halloween. It’s just too much glitter. I’m sure some girls can rock this look but not me.

Reply ButtonReply

beatye

I totally agree. the opposite of my profile. i wont use a thing in this box. last month i was sent the medium/dark contour palette along with a very nice email apologizing offer of $45 charms. unfortunately, I have not been able to redeem and emails to boxycharm have been unanswered. the quality of the products look great, but, another way off the mark.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

The glitter made sense for a festival box, but not so much for an everyday person like me who isn’t hip enough for festivals.. hopefully next month will be more of a winner for you Kelly! Thanks for reading. 🙂

I got a Benefit brow I can’t use and a freaking liquid eyeliner in Black. I have NEVER used black liquid eyeliner yet I seem to get one just about every month from some box!
The powder I can’t figure out how to get out. So, I took the plastic piece out and it exploded all over my clothes and bed. How the heck does it come out???

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Was hoping to get the FOMO Box since I ordered very late in the month. Not a fan of much anything in there. At least I’m excited for the extra skin care box that got me to re-subscribe.

Reply ButtonReply

Rebecca

There is a sticker on the little holes peel off the clear sticker then it will work. 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Hey T! Eep. Sorry about your powder. There is a very thin clear film sticker over the holes that you peel back before use.

Reply ButtonReply

Cindy B

Me too!! I thought the whole plastic piece comes off, so I used pliers to pull it off. My hands had some lotionon them, so I figured it was me. the highlighter spilled a little, so I’m extra sparkly today. Now I gotta try to figure out how to get it back on. I was in a little rush this morning, so I will have to check it when I get home.

Oohknip

I got variants, a holographic clear lip gloss and a brow cream instead of the mascara and eyeliner. The brow cream is a taupe, which we never see, but is too light for my dark hair (good for blondes I bet.) I love the lip gloss. It’s not sticky and has a pretty subtle glow. I like it better than Buxom’s Selena or Emma. If you don’t usually wear lipgloss you might think it sticky, but within the world of lipgloss it is not. But that highlighter. I tried it. It’s a highlighter, the fad that needs to end the soonest before too many more young women (and bois) begin to think that having a face so shiny that it looks oily and unwashed is a desirable thing. The neopolitan stripes of contouring must end. If your face doesn’t look dewy enough you need moisturizer, not glitter. What ever happened to blush? Can’t we have that again? Rosy cheeks and dewy lips? Or is it going to be glitter robot cheeks and poop brown matte lips forever? It looks ill, as in dying. I still liked my box and the value is excellent. It’s fun to try new things, I just wish sometimes the look would not be the trendy corpse look that is going out of style, but not fast enough.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I agree with you on so many things here! I have never, ever contoured. I don’t have the patience or time and my face is super full and it would look crazy. I do still love this highlighter though, because I do highlight my cheekbones and the tip of my nose every day. Admittedly, I am super subtle about it. Also, total blush addict here! I would LOVE some new blushes in boxes this season for sure.

Reply ButtonReply

Tiffany

Yeah I agree lots of Pur in boxes, might as well start their own subscription box.

Be cool to see more higher brand make up palettes from Too Faced or Urban Decay ect! They make enough money to sacrifice something good or create something exclusive to a few boxes!!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I agree! Would love some Too Faced 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Joy Jones

Super excited! Everything in the Box looks like I will use. You can’t ask for anything more! Good job boxycharm.

Reply ButtonReply

Barbara

What’s the deal with all of the products from PUR? Sure, it’s a decent brand, but not one that I believe should dominate the boxes month after month again. I would be curious to understand this relationship a bit better…

Reply ButtonReply

Amelia

Megan,
You mentioned you put your highlighter in your bb cream and then apply. This technique sounds interesting! Do you mix a little powder with the liquid and just use a beauty blender?
Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Hey Amelia! So what I like to do is put some powder on the back of my hand (this one I used very sparingly because there is a lot of sparkle in here) and then I use my liquid foundation or BB cream of choice and put some on top of it. I mix with a foundation brush then apply with it. I don’t love blender sponges for application because they absorb so much product. I usually top off with a transparent powder because it sets everything but doesn’t kill the dewiness. Hope this helps!

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

Do you apply it all over your face when you mix it or only the usual spots highlight goes?

Pat Greene

I’m canceling, but only because I’m on subscription box overload. I have a giant box filled with my castoffs. Every Christmas I go thru it and create some pretty wonderful stockings – but I’ve got enough :). That said, I liked this box and typically really enjoy BoxyCharm. This eyeshadow pigment palette is great; nice depth of color. I’ll also use the powder. I didn’t get that eyeliner, got a taupe eyebrow cream instead. I am forever working on my brows so that may come in handy. I also got a clear holographic lipgloss instead of the mascara and I like that as well. Subscription boxes are great but I’m at a point of too much of a good thing :).

Okay Okay! Now I’m a lot more excited for this box!

I cancelled because their customer service was awful and they still sent me this box… I wont get this April box until May. I dont recomend this box to anyone

Reply ButtonReply

Jeannie

I cancelled mine too, but now I want those brushes and the eye pencil.

Reply ButtonReply

Jacki

WARM is not actually universally neutral or flattering… just an FYI boxy! And even if I loved black eyeliner and mascara (I NEVER use these), I wouldn’t need new ones every month

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I was really glad it wasn’t black because I also have a TON of black eyeliner! This shimmering sterling though? Not so much. I actually have nothing quite like it, which is saying something for me!

Reply ButtonReply

Jacki

I got black. I put everything up for swaps except the brushes.

LB

LOL I’m so cool toned most cool toned foundations actually appear yellow on me and I had to laugh at that comment too….I’ll be glad when this orange and red eyeshadow trend goes away. I can barely get away with warm toned neutrals/browns.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Totally get this! As you can see from my swatches, I am very cool-toned and fair. I love reddish/rose gold/brick/ochre shadows. I do find lipstick is a MUST when I wear them though. And if you send me a highlighter that doesn’t make me look orange? I will sing its praises every time.

Rugby

I think a lot of people cancelled because they have been emailing me telling it’s not to late to get this in demand box

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

Yes, while every new subscriber gets the FOMO box because Boxy announced this box as “sold out” at the beginning of April. Why you always lyin Boxy?😂

Reply ButtonReply

KAT

Super excited about that eyeliner don’t wear black eyeliners bc makes my eyes look smaller and it doesn’t go with my light green eyes, but that color will make my eyes pop. Love me some pixie brushes , and i love that highlighter shade ! I’m excited about the box, the products can’t all be winners. But that’s what you sign up for when you get beauty subs . Can’t wait for mine 😁🥰

YAY!!! A non-black eyeliner! I am looking forward to receiving my box.
