Bomibag Review March 2019 - Bunny Bags Front

The bunny bags that this comes in every month seem to be getting smaller.

Bomibag Review March 2019 - Holika Holika Cucumber Pure Essence Mask Sheet Top

Holika Holika Cucumber Pure Essence Mask Sheet – Retail Value $1.99

Lately, we’ve been getting two sheet masks in Bomibag. This is the first. It does not smell at all like cucumbers (and also doesn’t make my eyes sting like some other cucumber masks and skincare products have been known to do). It is super heavy on the serum. I used this before bed and when I got up at 3 AM to feed Mr. Kitty (yes, this is something I do every night) my skin was honestly kind of oily, which is something I’ve never noticed before. Not good or bad, necessarily, just something to keep in mind if you do this in the morning before applying makeup. There are some other soothing ingredients in addition to cucumber including Matricaria and lavender extracts.

Bomibag Review March 2019 - I’m Sorry for My Skin S.O.S. Jelly Mask Soothing Top

I’m Sorry for My Skin S.O.S. Jelly Mask Soothing – Retail Value $4

This brand name cracks me up every time. I thought based on the name that this might be a hydrogel mask, but it was a standard fabric sheet. It was heavy on the serum and has several ingredients targeting inflammation (Centella Asiatica extract and broccoli sprout extract) as well as tons of antioxidants from cocoa extract. Despite all of these ingredients, the serum is clear and not strongly scented. This felt cool on my face, too, and didn’t drip on my shirt, which was nice (I guess the serum here is a bit thicker?).

Bomibag Review March 2019 - Rovectin Skin Essentials Activating Treatment Lotion Front

Rovectin Skin Essentials Activating Treatment Lotion (15 mL) – Estimated Value $2.42 (Buy 180 mL for $29; found here for $23.20)

This is thicker than toner and maybe a little thinner than serum or moisturizer. I find that products are generally intended to be applied in order of increasing viscosity, so I used this after toner. I think you could try this with a cotton pad although I just used my fingers. This has hyaluronic acid and trehalose, both of which hang onto moisture near the surface of the skin, caffeine (which is supposed to firm the skin), and an enzyme to gently exfoliate. I can’t say I noticed much of a difference after a few uses but a little of this goes a long way and I can keep going with this sample for a few weeks at least.

Bomibag Review March 2019 - Holika Holika Aloe 92% Shower Gel Top

Holika Holika Aloe 92% Shower Gel (250 mL) – Retail Value $11.50 (found here for $9.32)

This is full-sized, which is great, and something I don’t expect to see with this subscription too often. It has a strange consistency for a shower gel, probably due to the huge proportion of aloe, but I squeezed some out on a mesh sponge and it actually lathers really well. It smells kind of fresh and green and herbal, I guess. Anyway, it works well as a shower gel and I will use all of it.

Bomibag Review March 2019 - Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner Front

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner (30 mL) – Estimated Value $2.85 (Buy 200 mL for $19, found here for $15.39)

This is a new brand for me. The product is clear despite the blue bottle. I was a bit frustrated by the bottle; when you take the cap off there is a tiny hole through which to distribute the product, and I had trouble getting very much to come out. I may try to pry the plastic part with the hole out and just be careful pouring this onto a cotton pad. This has Astragalus extract, which has antioxidants, though there’s not much evidence it does anything when applied topically (FYI it is also known as milk vetch). People commonly take Astragalus supplements and this is believed to be a safe ingredient. I would say this did not strip the oils out of my skin (there’s no ethanol in it) and was not particularly harsh as skincare products go.

Verdict:I calculated a total value of $22.76 for Bomibag. That is pretty good for this subscription. (Do keep in mind, K-Beauty prices can be all over the place depending on the seller, shipping from overseas, etc.) I thought there was a better variety of products this month than last; the shower gel was probably my favorite item – it worked, it was gentle, and it was full-sized. Plus the scent agreed with me. Also, I did use or will use everything.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you subscribe today? No, your first shipment would be for April's.

Value Breakdown:At $19.99 for this subscription, you’re paying about the following per item:

  • Cucumber mask $1.75
  • Soothing mask $3.51
  • Rovectin lotion $2.13
  • Shower gel $10.10
  • Toner $2.50

I cancelled this sub unfortunately. This is the second month in a row that they’ve repeated a product they sent in a prior bomibag in the last 12 months ago. With usually only 3 non-mask products, repeating one really takes away the value for me. Last month it was the heimish all clean foam and this month it’s the pyunkang yul toner.
