Birchbox The Nail Refresh Kit Review

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Info Card Front

Here is the info sheet for the products included, along with the prices of their full-size counterparts.

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - JUARA Coconut Illipe Hand & Nail Balm Front

JUARA Coconut Illipe Hand & Nail Balm, 0.27 oz – Estimated Value $2.16 (buy the full-size version for $20)

This was a really nice hand cream- I liked the scent and it didn’t leave my hands feeling greasy. This is packed with a ton of natural oils like Candlenut oil, coconut oil, and jojoba esters, and it absorbed quickly.

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Adesse New York Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil Box Front

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Adesse New York Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil Front

Adesse New York Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil, Full-size! Retail Value $18

I don’t use cuticle oils as much as I should, but this one is packed with sweet almond oil and goes a long way towards nourishing rough and ragged cuticles. This is also made with jojoba oil and vitamin E, and I know that this bottle will last a long time- even if I used it every day!

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer in Forever Fades Fast Front

Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer in Forever Fades Fast, Full-size! Retail Value $18

I love the packaging of Smith & Cult nail polishes, and if you find the large top to be unwieldy you can pull it off and use the smaller top to paint your nails. This is a peachy pink crème, and the formula applied perfectly in two coats with no issue.

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer in Doe My Dear Front

Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer in Doe My Dear, Full-size! Retail Value $18

This is a grey-taupe polish with the same great crème formula, meaning two easy coats leaves you with smooth and shiny color on your nails. Smith & Cult polishes are 8-free, too.

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Swatch Front

Here are the shades swatched.

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Dr. Jart+ Dermask™ Hand Hydrating Mask FrontBirchbox Nail box April 2019 - Dr. Jart+ Dermask™ Hand Hydrating Mask Back

Dr. Jart+ Dermask™ Hand Hydrating Mask – Retail Value $12

I have actually tried this before after picking it up at my local Sephora, and while I liked it I definitely do not think it is worth the $12 cost. The mask actually warms up while you wear it, which is nice on tired hands, and it does moisturize your skin. I just didn’t see enough results to justify the high cost of a single-use hand mask.

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Tweezerman Filemate Front 1

Birchbox Nail box April 2019 - Tweezerman Filemate Side

Tweezerman Filemate – Estimated Value $5 (based on other filemates found here)

I have used this file before, and I am happy to have another one. I like the grit on these for filing off a jagged edge or smoothing out my shape, and it doesn’t tear into my cuticles when I am using it.

The Verdict: This box, while packed with full-size items, felt a little boring. Considering Smith & Cult literally has a polished named “Gay Ponies Dancing in The Snow,” it feels like we were sent the most vanilla shades possible from the brand. That being said, the polishes are top-notch quality, and they are great neutrals. As a whole, this box had a good value, and I like that it has almost everything you would need for an at-home manicure. Value-wise, I calculated a value of $73.16, which meets the $73 promised value.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this is still available.

Coupon:  Check out all the free gift with purchase coupons, and don’t forget to add your free sample pack with any $35 purchase.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $35 ($30 + $5 shipping) and I calculated a total value of $73.16. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Jaura: $1.03
  • Adesse: $8.61
  • Smith & Cult Forever: $8.61
  • Smith & Cult Doe: $8.61
  • Dr. Jart+: $5.74
  • Tweezerman: $2.39

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Yes! I love everything nails, but I wouldn’t buy this box due to the boring colors. 🙁
