The packaging is a real showstopper. It's kind of like opening a suitcase in a Bond movie.

Robb Vices February 2019 booklet cover

You might notice that unlike other Robb Vice boxes, this month only has one item. That item happens to be a $300 bottle of champagne. Hope you like bubbles!

Mod Selection Reserve Champagne NV, - Retail Value $299.99

Before we begin, I feel like I should mention this champagne is a Drake collab with a world-famous winemaker Brent Hocking. Yes, THAT Drake:

This engraved bottle is just so pretty! I would normally save something like this (or really, ANY bottle of booze over $50) for a super special occasion, but getting this box at the beginning of the week gave me a great excuse to cut loose on a Wednesday night! I even went out and bought a pretty new champagne flute just to have something worthy of this expensive booze. While I am no expert, I do really love champagne and drink it every chance I get. I will pick it over red or white wine any time I can. My husband, on the other hand, dislikes champagne, but even he couldn't pass up a chance to try such an expensive bottle.

This champagne has a bright and almost sharp scent. It has fruity and floral aromas. It was much drier than many I have had, but it had a really clean taste that was a little tart. My husband said it tasted acidic and I could agree, though this was a good thing in my opinion. It had an extremely short finish. It didn't coat my mouth at all, and after each swallow, it was like no flavor was left until the next swig.

We did manage to finish the entire bottle, and I was pleased that I really didn't feel tipsy at all but I was delightfully giggly. We then watched Bob Ross paint and ate fancy cheese until bedtime, which made for a really relaxed, enjoyable, and slightly odd evening. I highly recommend Bob Ross and champagne to any of you.

Verdict: This Robb Vices box is likely to be the most polarizing yet. The retail value of this champagne is $299.99, so this is a good value if you like expensive champagne. If you don't like champagne, well, hopefully, you have someone in your life you need to impress over a fancy dinner or with a really REALLY great gift. I know some people will be thrilled this month and others will be unhappy, and I totally get it. One hero item leaves a lot of room for error! I personally adore champagne and found it so exciting to get a bottle that I never in a million years would have had the funds or nerve to buy. The bottle itself is stunning and the drink itself was tasty and felt very sophisticated. Even my husband almost enjoyed this, which is saying a lot because he exclusively drinks craft beers. Will I be buying this drink, ever? No way! But this was still a once in a lifetime experience that I really enjoyed!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by the 1st of the month to receive that month's box.

Value Breakdown: For $174.90 ($159.95 + $14.95 shipping to PA), I received a bottle of champagne with a retail value of $299.99.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

So did everyone pay $160 for that bottle? Right? Like the cost of the box??

But, everyone is happy because its a $299 bottle.?

So you got the bottle $140 cheaper/ sale price. You saved 140$ but still spent “$160” on a bottle of booze?

Idk but any wine/ drink like this I wouldn’t spend more then $10 because I’d feel like an idiot. Booze is booze and its gone in an instant.

Can’t have alcohol anyways.

Has anyone received a March box?

Yep, got mine today.

What’s in it?

Can I just say, I love that Drake GIF! lol 🤪

Has anyone tried this yet? How delicious is it? Deciding whether to keep or gift. Either way, a total win!

I can’t see how a limited high-priced bottle of champagne can be considered anything besides a win here. I hate champagne but I can imagine dozens of scenarios where a fancy bottle like this would be ideal. Great box without the filler!

I’m just about to list mine. I am currently in AZ, and will swap with anyone who provides proof that they are 21 or older (I don’t want to get into trouble). I am really only swapping for followed items at the moment, as I have so much stuff already, and I will be moving again soon.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

My opinion only but I wouldn’t swap a $300. glass item. I just wouldn’t. Then of course the alcohol aspect of it is another thing.

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

Highly advice you not to swap. Lots of laws around shipping alcohol. Just swap local with someone you can meet in person.

Tammy

Where did you get those flutes from? They are gorgeous. Thanks!

I do! and would love to swap, let me know. Cheers Jewels

I will be in San Diego at the end of April/first week of May (RB AREA) and I am happy to swap for this, but I have so much stuff I can’t put it all on the swap page. If interested reply here and I’ll give you info to DM me! Thank you

I have mine stored on its side in a wine fridge. We’re saving it for a special occasion…so we can be fancy.

I like this months box. I’d rather have one bottle of nice alcohol than a box full of weird stuff like last month, which I didn’t care for.

The “tea” stained my ember mug. I didn’t like the weird tasting chocolate and I assumed the skin care would go unused. My husband is more of an Irish-Spring-bar-soap kind of a guy, but he’s using it. He keeps telling me to touch his face every time he uses it. I just roll my eyes, but I’m glad it’s not going to waste.

I also didn’t mind this one item month. I really expect booze each time with this sub, so last month was just “fine”.

Reply ButtonReply

Serena

Okay, I’ve always wondered. Why do you guys post a picture of every page of every included booklet? Do people really want to see all that? It drives me crazy scrolling past it all.

I mean, if everyone likes it, I’ll just shut up. 😂😂

Me too!!

I agree. While I like to read the info cards/booklets of boxes I actually receive, I don’t need multiple photos of them on a review site. One photo would suffice.

I guess I’m in the minority but I like being able to read the booklet that comes with the box since I no longer subscribe to RV

Reply ButtonReply

Mariek

I hate this too. We dont purchase a box because of the booklet. We dont care about it. Please don’t show it .

It’s filler. Not much for them to do these days. Pictures of superfluous stuff fill the reviews.

Please don’t display! It you keep it standing vertically, the cork will dry out, and that”s an evil thing. The wine will evaporate, the maturation won’t go well.

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

best way to preserve on side, and how long can you keep it for a “special occasion” without sacrificing quality?

Reply ButtonReply

Kate

Last RV we received was December and I can honestly say we do not miss it, AT ALL. So the RV on this bottle is $300.00…but is it better than Dom? I seriously doubt it. RV is very pretentious. I hope those who are receiving it are happy.

Reply ButtonReply

DawnS

To be honest I don’t really care for dom perignon or cristal. Perhaps I am not refined enough but I do not find their flavors to be much better than lower prices champs.
I agree that I hope folks are happy, and hope they store it right if they aren’t going to drink it soon!

Reply ButtonReply

DawnS

I love Champagne but I would have been very disappointed to receive this bottle as the only item, no glasses, no meat, cheese or chocolates. Just 1 bottle that would not last through a proper meal for 2 people. Guess I am glad I cancelled a while ago, none of the boxes have been appealing to me even if I had stayed in at the old price.

Reply ButtonReply

Karol

Was so happy to see this! Since I’m still getting the Founders price, this is a fantastic bargain. Told my daughters I’ll open it when one gets married. One said that champagne doesn’t last that long.
When I get a meh box from RV, I hesitate discontinuing the sub due to boxes like this and losing the price. I also get a 6 month sub which cuts the price too.

Reply ButtonReply

Tat

Champagne does age well. I put the good stuff away for as much as 8 years, depending on the vintage. Just store it on its side in a dark, cool place.

I have to say, this review totally made me giggle out loud! What an awesome evening! Bob Ross and $300 champagne- yes, please! Thanks for making my day 💗

Reply ButtonReply

Jess

Yes, I absolutely love the evening you made out of this. With two little kids and no family near by, that actually sounds like a fantastic date night in that my husband and I can do after the kids are in bed. Now I’m thinking about happy little trees…

You are welcome! I highly recommend this practice.

Same! This review made me smile, thanks Megan!

TK

I love champagne but I wouldn’t have been real happy with this box. Couldn’t they at least throw in some nice chocolates? I prefer fruitier champagnes too not tart. I know this is a true “champagne” from France but my palate prefers California sparkling wines. We had this sub for awhile but canceled a year ago. I keep watching it to see where it’s going. So far, we won’t be signing up again.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie

Can you really call it a hero item if it’s the only item? The only thing it can stand out from is the foam…

Reply ButtonReply

Lin

Exactly what I was thinking.

Reply ButtonReply

Dorothy

Is there anything about where the grapes were grown and when they were harvested?

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

I did a little digging and found Vallée de la Marne.

Reply ButtonReply

jennyjenny

I’d hope they were actually grown in the Champagne region of France for that price!

Reply ButtonReply

Adele

I was very excited to receive this and the bottle is beautiful and looks good on display with my other Robb Vices alcohol. Saving it for a special occasion.

Reply ButtonReply

Tat

Please don’t display! It you keep it standing vertically, the cork will dry out, and that”s an evil thing. The wine will evaporate, the maturation won’t go well.

Don’t worry, I’ll find a reason to drink it soon. 😁
