I’m a newbie sub here. How do you know what level or box number you will be getting?

Okay everyone!!!!

I’m box #707 and this is what I got!

NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna

Sephora Collection Lashcraft High Volume Mascara

SuperGoop! Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40

Dry Bar Triple Sec 3-in-1

Anoka Perk Up Dry Shampoo

Versace Bright Crystal

My thoughts: I’m happy only because I wanted to SuperGoop and Laguna bronze, but the rest besides the bonus are repeats. I’m kinda mad I got two dry shampoos since I still have a full sample of the amika in my bathroom, but I did enjoy the Triple Sec. The mascara is a repeat, but I don’t really mind since I liked that one. I’m just pissed about TWO DRY SHAMPOOS. Better then mushroom coffee like last time right? 😂😂

Mb

Ugh, that’s the worst possible variation. I don’t even want my box now 😣
2 dry shampoos in one box??
Thanks for sharing!

dee

I would LOVE two dry shampoos!

Amanda

For those of you stalking this post for spoilers (like I have been all month!), I got my box last night (#954) and it contains:

Sephora Collection Lashcraft Big Volume Mascara
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in R230
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40
Dr Jart Cicapair ™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo
Maison Margiela Replica Music Festival

I’m actually pretty impressed with this months box. The only repeats for me I see is the Lashcraft mascara (which I do enjoy, but still hope I don’t get) and the foundation. I don’t really like getting the foundations because they’re never my color so I gotta add another foundation to make it work.

BUT, everything else looks amazing and if I don’t get those two items I’ll be a happy camper. I’m box #707. I’m hoping for the Supergoop or any of the SPFs, Primer Potion and NARS Laguna!

Also happy about all the bonuses being fragrances! I know people think otherwise, but if rather have them then shampoo/conditioners you can barely use once!

The only thing I don’t like about Sephora is they send you the box closer to the end of the month. It’s mid-March and they still don’t have what’s in the box on the website. I also subscribe to Beautyfix which I’m starting to like more. I like that they post what’s in the box within the first week and you usually get your box within the first but no later than the second. Sephora its closer to the end of the month.

Does anyone know what box #954 is??

Sephora Collection Lashcraft Big Volume Mascara

That’s my box. I will not use anything in it. I am cancelling.

Donna

It is frustrating to have this nice long list of possibilities without specifics of the actual box associated as you guys usually do. Do you know the box numbers tied to the spoilers yet? Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Emmy

You’ll probably get your box before the full spoilers for each box are out. I got my shipment e-mail today.

Reply ButtonReply

Angie

Does anyone know what’s in box 707?

Reply ButtonReply

LizzyLuLu

I commented a long post about it a few minutes ago and I’m not sure if it’s posted yet so I’ll just give you the item list 🙂 I just got mine today!
SuperGoop SPF 40, Nars Laguna, Sephora Lashcraft High Volume mascara, Amika Perk up Dry Shampoo, Dry Bar Triple Sec 3-in-1 and Versace Bright Crystal!

Upset about the two dry shampoos, but I’m happy I got what I wanted which is the Supergoop & NARS!

KarmaRose

I’m box 707 also and I haven’t seen one box # spoiler for any of the boxes yet.

Same here, got so mad with my February’s box, I immediately cancelled. I got a deep, dark shade of the estee lauder foundation, I was like yup they sure don’t go by yr profile at all!
And go figure that they’d have actual items I like and would use for march, bummer hah!

Reply ButtonReply

Mee

I just signed up. I’m really hoping for the IT cleanser.

Ganja Jane

I’d really love to get the both of the mini Nars and/or the primer potion. They always send me foundation that is too red and dark. I wear Gobi in Nars and they send me r230 in MUFE. They also send me blue-reds and very dusky blue mauve lippies when I have reddish-blonde hair and teal eyes. I’m also allergic to sunscreen and they keep sending it. I am very happy about the fragrance. I dislike the foils with scant amounts of overly fragranced dimethicone heavy hair care. Can we get something other than blue-black eyeliner? How about brown , taupe or charcoal?

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

I love Sephora Play! It’s only $10 , so I don’t expect customization or full size products. I think they have been stepping it up lately 🙂 I have been getting great bags! Samples are small but usually high quality items from expensive brands I wouldn’t try otherwise.

Reply ButtonReply

Erin

Holy… I can’t even with the constant complaints anymore. If you don’t like it, don’t sub. If you do (like me), then you want to hear positive stuff from other people who do. If you see stuff you like, instead of telling us your life story about unsubbing but this makes you want to sub again but you’re not because you probably won’t get what you want and then you’ll tell us the exact same thing on here next month too because this is how you choose to spend your time/waste my time, then buy the $10 box from sephora.com – there are often lots of leftover boxes that are sold on their website after the boxes ship too subscribers and you can see exactly what is in the box before you buy it so you get what you want.

Amen sister!

nothing exciting. play! has been horrible lately IMHO

Reply ButtonReply

Lola

I agree with you. I keep hoping it gets better. They have some good, new products that others seem to get two of while I get the same old stuff on repeat.

Reply ButtonReply

Meg

ITA. I’ve gotten all these in past boxes, and I am SO SICK of the lashcraft mascara and the Ouai wave spray! I’ll probably get both of these again 🙁 meanwhile, the GWPs are always new products, like the new MILK hydroprimer, so it’s obvious they have the newest and best stuff in sample sizes on hand. COME ON SEPHORA! you took away a sample, changed the VIB 2-day shipping into an opt in/pay only thing, now you’re sending out crap boxes of extras. I’ll give them one more month then I’m done with them too, just like BB.

I resubed 2 months ago, 1st box had the scrub lid COMPLETELY off and the eye cream was inside it, but it had hardened like a rock from being exposed to air. Last month was disappointed too, they do not use your survey, and I’m wondering if they track how much you spend and only send good boxes to those shopping a lot.

Reply ButtonReply

Erica

I shop at Sephora A LOT and spend a lot of money there! I still get boxes that aren’t that great, some are downright horrible! It’s just the luck of the draw I guess. Several times per year I think about cancelling. I have cancelled before. But then saw the spoilers for those boxes I was missing out on and got FOMO and resubscribed lol.. Thinking about cancelling again recently..

Reply ButtonReply

MargeW

I shop a lot and still get lousy boxes. And when I do shop online, they throw one piece of bubble wrap and one piece of brown paper in the box along with the items that are just bouncing around freely inside the shipment.

Reply ButtonReply

Nina

Why would you think that they send good things to people who shop a lot? I’m just curious…

Reply ButtonReply

Meg

I’m Rouge level and spend probably $300 a month at Sephora, and trust me, I’m not getting good boxes. I’m unsubbing next month if I get a crap box again this month, which it looks like I will from the options!

Hi! I just want to share this with you-on what happened to me tonight! I got my February Play! Box, and they gave me the wrong products of what I was suppose to get. I called Sephora, and I got a refund🙂! I don’t know if this would help you also, when I spoke to the rep, she said there was a glitch in their system for Play! They also were trained recently to let us know about making sure your profile/preferences are up to date! So, they are really trying to fix the Play! by Sephora Subscription for the better! And no I don’t work for Sephora! lol, I hope this helps!!!

Reply ButtonReply

FloridaMomof3

I got what I thought I would HOWEVER I did recieve an email from Sephora stating that there was a glitch and they apologized and are working to fix the error.

On the other hand, hubby and I have a business together and that’s the same excuse that we tend to use when we fluff up 😀 So the “system” is typically human error 😉

Pink5

Ah, that explains why I didn’t get the sample of Black Opium I requested with my last order.

Still not worth trying to resub and hope for the best.

Reply ButtonReply

Margaret

If you want to try Black Opium but aren’t 100%, they make a travel-size that is an actual spray instead of a roller-ball!

Reply ButtonReply

Kellie

Nice products this month. I cancelled a month ago and not allowing myself to rejoin since I have no guarantee that I will get the items I want.

i am the most excited for the sunscreen and dr jart and that nars lipstick but i am 100% sure i would never receive it. this is my first box ever and i really wonder whether they really do customize these boxes or just send you “whatever” and are fine with it?

Reply ButtonReply

Krista

I’d love to try the foundation, primer potion, and cleanser.

Reply ButtonReply

Pink5

Can’t speak for the cleanser, but the foundation and primer are good.

Reply ButtonReply

Tat

There are a lot of samples I would love to try. I wished Play! offered unlimited add ons at a reasonable price.

Reply ButtonReply

Helen Lyons

Some great items here but lots of repeats. Im box #707 and hoping for foundation, bronzer, shiseido sunscreen, cicapair, drybar and replica perfume .

Reply ButtonReply

Brianna

What’s box #707? And how do I know which I am?

Reply ButtonReply

doodlebug

Log in on the site, go to your account, then recent orders, click on box order and your box # is the last 3 digits of the item # (NOT order number)! Hope that helps.

eeb

Go to “recent orders” in your Sephora profile. Click “view details” on your March Sephora Play order. Your item will list a 7 digit code; the last three numbers are your box number. Ppl will often post which Items they got from each box #. Ive had Play for over a year and find it reliable.

Pink5

The Shiseido sunscreen seems to always pop up in the annual Sun Safety kit.

It’s a good product, but a bit goopy.

Reply ButtonReply

krolyk

i once received the sample of the perfume and it was half used so i’m least excited about that one, but hopefully they select the samples to play! boxes more carefully…

Reply ButtonReply

Nina

Ya, my last Maison Margiela sample was completely empty.. it was just a free sample from a beauty order…. but still!

Jeanine

It’s funny out of all my sub boxes..I tend to use the play items most!! There is a lot of stuff I tried already and love!! Plus also something new every so often!! I really do love my play box.

Reply ButtonReply

Claudia

Every month i say I’m going to quit … and then i don’t. I don’t think I’ve even removed the items front the last few boxes. Maybe it’s me but I forever feel like I’m not getting items that are useful to me. But i dont even have box eenvy. Play! Is just dull!

Reply ButtonReply

Danielle

Me either. They r still sitting on the shelf where I put them. Sephora needs to step it up.

Reply ButtonReply

Lilian

So glad I cancelled it months ago, no regrets.

Reply ButtonReply

Christyle

I keep play around because it’s cheap, but I think it’s time to cancel, there are so many more boxes with much greater potential to put$20 towards 🤷🏻‍♀️

Reply ButtonReply

Leslie s.

Same! I just keep it because it’s only $10 but I’m not sure that it’s worth it anymore, there’s a lot of repeats this month

Reply ButtonReply

NoAngel

The Sephora sub is only $10/mo. Your post reads like its $20/mo. Just sayin…

Reply ButtonReply

Trish

Is everything random in Play or do you fill out a quiz? There’s a lot of these that I’d like to have but it seems like there are so many things that the odds of me getting what I want are slim.

Reply ButtonReply

Trish

Thanks NoAngel and JennR! With it being only $10 I’m going to take a chance and hope for the best.

Reply ButtonReply

JennR

You fill out a quiz, but it’s basically random. I tried to change my quiz in hopes of getting products better suited to me, but it didn’t make any difference. I finally cancelled because or poor curation, tiny samples, and repeats.

Reply ButtonReply

NoAngel

Sephora has you fill out a profile, but they don’t always follow it. Actually, in my experience they rarely matched more than 1 or 2 items to my profile each month. Sample sizes tend to be small, but it is only $10/mo, and everything in the box can be purchased at their stores. My biggest complaint was (I no longer sub to them, but I do buy their “Favorites” boxes) that they introduced their own house brands and put them in the boxes as one of the monthly items. I would not have minded if it was an extra bonus item, but I subbed specifically to sample name brands.
