Nicely Noted March 2019 Review

Nicely Noted March 2019 note from perry

Each month there is a cute note from Nicely Noted's founder, Perry.

Now, on to our cards!

Nicely Noted March 2019 congrats card Nicely Noted March 2019 congrats card back

Congrats Card by People I've Loved - Retail Value $5.00

While this card is cute, I find it a little common for this sub that usually sends really unique cards that feature creative illustrations or clever sayings. The folks at People I've Loved certainly have other cards that I think might have made more sense to send. Although this one doesn't excite me in a big way, it is always handy to have a congratulatory card close by. The paper feels great and the boldly letterpressed text pops against the blue stripe. It looks to me that the stripe might have been hand highlighted, which is a cool look. I also like the handsome kraft envelope.

Rear View Birthday Card by Bench Pressed - Retail Value $5.00

Here we go. This is the sort of card I expect from this subscription. This rear view card is as cute as it is funny, and it would make a perfect card for your dry-humored friend of choice on their special day. It comes with a really beautiful green envelope that perfectly complements the blues and green of the card.

Zig Zag Card by Iron Curtain Press - Estimated Value $2.25 (Buy an 8 card set here for $18.00)

This nondescript card is actually a notecard from a boxed set. It would be great for sending someone a little note of affection in the mail, or a thank you. While it is super cute, it kind of feels like the first card above this month. I just want a little more! Again, this press has so many adorable and incredibly unique cards that I would love to send to someone, but this one just doesn't show off the full scope of their work for me. As always, this press has paper that feels great, and I appreciate the pretty blue card it came with because it sets off the pattern on the front of the card.

Nicely Noted March 2019 stamp envelope Nicely Noted March 2019 stamps

Postage Stamps - Estimated Value $1.65

Included this month were three forever stamps. I love the vintage postage this subscription sends because it makes it super easy to send a card out without having to buy or track down stamps and they are nearly always ones that are no longer for sale, which gives all my notes a unique flair.

Verdict: This month's Nicely Noted sent three cute letterpress cards, but I just needed a little more. The Birthday card was spot on for what I expect from this sub: a little clever, super unique, and always heartfelt. The other two cards just lacked that extra spark for a sub that only sends three cards. I have quite a few less expensive generic cards at my disposal, but I always look forward to this sub because I get more specific and special cards. Hopefully, next month has a little more of what I like!

Value Breakdown: For $20, we got an estimated $13.90 worth of stamps and cards in terms of retail value. This sub's retail value generally doesn't exceed its cost, but it is usually a little closer than it was this month. I think the included notecard from a box set really decreased the overall value this month more than usual. Usually, I don't mind the retail cost being a little bit lower than the cost, because it means I have unique cards and stamps easily at hand, but this month was a bigger gap than usual and there was only one real standout card in my opinion.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I personally really like these cards! They remind me of summers when I was in secondary school (but in a good way!). I agree that the value was disappointing this month though

This is one of those subs that is usually pretty close in value to what it costs, sometimes a little less. I generally don’t mind because the cards are so cute! This month was lower than usual though, and I am too spoiled by the sassy cards from previous months I think!
