Look Fantastic March 2019 Beauty Box Review
Each box comes with a booklet that tells you more about the products included with tips on how to use them. The month is the Romance Edition and the pink box couldn't be prettier! I always love keeping Look Fantastic boxes around to store makeup, jewelry, and other important things in because they are always so sturdy and beautiful.
This booklet always has a detailed list of all of the products in each box along with helpful and informative information on each one.
This month there is a cute spot featuring subscriber faves and also an in-depth article on Morphe cosmetics.
Now, on to the items!
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%, 30 ml - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $7.00
The Ordinary is one of those brands that had so much hype when it launched, and as a lover of minimal packaging and totally attainable prices, I bought up a ton of it at launch, including this formula. I love this brand, but this is likely my least favorite product from them, mainly because it is SO sticky and leaves a film on my skin. Applying moisturizer on top does help with this, but I have never stuck to using this one. It does provide a ton of moisture to dry skin, so I get why many people reach for it daily. It would likely be a great moisturizer for someone with oily or acne prone skin, when creams are just too much for their pores and skin. If you want to buy my absolute favorite product from this line, give their AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution a try. It is one of the products I use religiously because I see nearly instant results. And at $7 a bottle, it isn't a huge risk!
Morphe Mini Highlighter, 3 g – Estimated Value $6.75 (Buy a full size 8 g here for $18.00)
This highlighter is so wearable! I am really impressed by how fine the shimmer is, making it a great choice for your more subtle looks. The golden glow is flattering on my pale skin and super buildable. As usual, I also tried it as an eyeliner, which was so minimal and very pretty. It also was lovely on my collarbones adding just a little bit of dewiness. This is a sample size, but it is quite generous and should last a long time. The full-size price of $18 makes it a no brainer to replace when I run out.
I tried to swatch this one lighter to heavier, so you get a little bit of an idea of how buildable it is.
Omorovicza Cleansing Foam, 1.01 fl oz – Estimated Value $16.16 (Buy a full size 5 fl oz here for $80.00)
This stuff smells great! Sort of like a mix of greens and florals. It is a pale blue color and has a lumpy and slightly odd texture. It was super refreshing and felt like it went straight to my pores when I washed my face with it. Even though it is a foam, it really wasn't that foamy and remained pretty creamy for me. It had a cooling effect on my skin when I dried my face, which was very refreshing and though all the makeup was gone, I didn't feel like it stripped my skin. I really liked the formula, but the retail price is a bit of a jump for me. Luckily, this sample is a great size and will last a long time.
Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Soothing Hand Balm, 70 ml – FULL SIZE! Retail Value $13.00
This formula is great, so I was sad when I concluded that I didn't like the scent. It is very sweet, creamy, and floral, and I tend to lean a little more masculine in my fragrance choices. For those sweet scent lovers though, this is a total win, smells super girly, and very appropriate for spring. The formula was creamy and absorbed quickly, leaving my hands looking really well moisturized. The size of the tube is large, but not so big that it doesn't make a perfect purse cream on the go!
Madara Smart Anti-Pollution Charcoal and Mud Repair Max, 12.5 ml - Estimated Value $6.67 (Buy a full size 60 ml here for $32.00)
I avoid charcoal and clay masks because I find them drying, but my husband stole this as soon as I got home. He is on a serious quest to be poreless (or at least shrink his pores), and while this goal has eluded me my entire adult life, I wish him the best. He loves clay and charcoal masks and he loved the smell of this one and the thinner consistency. He did mention that it was hard to wash off but that his skin felt great after. This formula contains black mud and charcoal, so f you are looking for a skin detox and boost of antioxidants, you will enjoy this one!
EOS Lip Balm, 7 g - Retail Value $3.29
I love these little spherical lip balms. They are so cute and the dome shape feels great on my lips when applying. This white version really has no remarkable scent, which is just fine and leaves my lips very moisturized. This is a good all-purpose balm for anyone, but if you prefer bells and whistles, this one might be underwhelming for you.
And this box includes the latest issue of Elle UK Magazine:
Retail Value $5
The Verdict: This month's Look Fantastic Beauty Box was a great example of really great products and value that just didn't contain anything that got me super excited. This doesn't mean it wasn't an awesome box, but there just weren't any real standouts for my skincare/beauty needs. Fans of The Ordinary will be thrilled with a full-size bottle from this brand, and if you love sugary florals the hand cream was a total win for you. The cleansing foam was really nice and I will enjoy adding it to my stash. I always love getting a lip balm that I can stash all over my house/car/purse/office like a squirrel, and I really did love the Morphe highlighter. The value was absolutely there, I mean the retail value of this box is $52.87, which is good for a $20 box, not including the magazine. It might just come down to the products being hit or miss for your personal preferences, though aside from the highlighter, I don't know that there were really any universal wins this month.
