Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Info 1 Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Info 2

Here is the info sheet for this month’s box. This month we received the seasonal box (Seasonal boxes ship in February, May, August, and November).

Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Cuticle 1 Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Cuticle 2

It’s Only a Dream Cuticle Butter, 1 oz – Retail Value $12.99

This is the same size as the size listed for sale on the website, but this didn’t come in a nice glass jar. The same amount of product, though! This is super nourishing to my dry cuticles, but I had to be careful with the amount I applied otherwise my hands were left greasy. The scent is described as calming verbena, lemongrass, calla lily, and citrus blended with leafy greens, ylang-ylang, rosewood, and ozone. What does ozone smell like, you ask? I couldn’t tell you, as this really just smelled floral with a touch of citrus.

Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Mask 1 Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Mask 2

Who Are You? Charcoal Face Mask - Retail Value $15.99 (currently out of stock)

I wasn’t excited that this jar didn’t come with the ingredients listed- and it took until the second restock of the Wonderland collection for this mask to get posted and me to be able to see it. This has kaolin clay and activated charcoal, and no ingredient stood out to me as particularly bad, but my skin did tingle when I was wearing which is a sign that my skin doesn’t like it. The scent is described as a ripe pear with tart limes, vanilla orchid, and raw cane sugar. This didn’t really have a strong fragrance, which I consider to be a good thing.

Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Eat Me 1 Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Eat Me 2

Eat Me Deep Conditioner, 1 oz – Buy the full-size version for $12.99

I love the deep conditioners from FCS- I use them as a regular conditioner on the ends of my curls, and my hair is always nourished after using. It is a bit thick, so I recommend warming it up between your hands before distributing it through your hair, and if you have fine hair this would probably be a true deep conditioning treatment for you. The scent is scrumptious yellow cake with a fresh slathering of creamy frosting, topped with pineapple, and garnished with cilantro. It sounds like a slightly strange cake, but this does smell good enough to eat.

Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Perfume

We’re All Mad Here Perfume Oil – Buy the full-size version for $7.99

My biggest complaint about the number of perfume oils sent with this subscription box is not the quality- they always smell great. I just wish we could get a perfume spray a time or two! This is a blend of playful mint waters and natural leafy greens with rich cedarwood. It could be described as a unisex fragrance, and I love reaching for it.

Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Soap 1 Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Soap 2

Almost Alice Fortune Cookie Soap – Retail Value $4.25

Fortune Cookie Soap truly makes some beautiful soap- there is no denying that! This has notes of fresh green snap peas and juicy pear with sweet pea flowers, freesia, and ripe berries. The fruity, floral concoction is sweet and refreshing.

Fortune Cookie Soap “Wonderland” February 2019 - Shampoo

Futterwacken Liquid Shampoo, 1 oz – Estimated Value $1.26 (buy the 9.5 oz version for $11.99)

This shampoo is sulfate-free, so cheers to that! I still found it a bit too stripping for my dry curls, but I enjoyed the scent of sun-warmed lilies, grapefruit, and “a breath of purified air free from the Evil spread by the Queen of Hearts.”

The Verdict: It can be a bit confusing with the new FCS subscription options, but I really enjoyed this mini collection dedicated to Alice in Wonderland! I thought all of the smells were lovely and perfect for the Spring months ahead, and a good collection of products were included. Honestly, my biggest complaints are nitpicky- I wish we could receive more perfume sprays, and I wish any skincare item had the full list of ingredients included for me to review with ease.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I just paid for my first box this morning. I’m very sad with the mini products, not sure ill keep the box. I tried signing up 2 years ago but the site refused my address on several occasions which really upset me!! Then a friend who moved upstairs got her box address changed & it worked for her no problems. Finally decided to try again, but too late with the box change! I have very long thick dark blue hair… I feel like I’d use that whole mini bottle one time use :/

It’s amusing to me to see people complaining about the “sample” sizes – FCS actually held polls on their social media pages to see what people wanted to “improve” the monthly sub… and the majority wanted smaller product rather than the previous $35 per month sub that included all full sizes.

I’ve been loyal to FCS for about 1 1/2 years. They have excellent customer service (returning emails before even 24 hours have passed) and really listen to & appreciate their fan base. For me, that’s something I see few retailers embracing in this rush for the dollars rather than the smiles. Their products have always been far more gentle for me than any drug store brand, chemicals or not.

I really love Alice in Wonderland, and I was really happy with this collection. I’m almost positive (and someone will surely correct me if I’m wrong) but I think this was a re-release of the past Wonderland collection.

I, personally, loved the cuticle butter and bought another tub of it. It smells amazing and has really helped my nails out. I also really enjoyed perfume, and love how earthy it settles. It definitely made me ready for Spring.

Both the cuticle butter and the perfume oil were full-sized – though I recognize they look small and almost make up the full cost of the box. Plus with a $10 off coupon, I’m a happy camper.

I finally gave this box up because they changed to sample sizes except for one full sized product, and because their products are full of chemicals, like drugstore brands.

The amount of preservatives and often, artificial coloring additives when there’s no need at all for them, is off-putting for the price vs. my perceived value of the products.

I think there are much better options out there after searching high and low for the ingredient lists for months. If a list of ingredients is missing, although a list is required in the USA by the FDA, they are hiding it for a reason, and also breaking the FDA law about packaging and labeling IMO.

I think people need to stop and think about the overall ethics of a company which has broken the ingredient labeling laws for as long as I paid for their boxes.

I just looked at my stash of FCS products which is two huge boxes full and everything I looked at had the ingredients listed right on it.

The ingredients for most of the products are on the website and the products themselves. Until recently, Fortune Cookie Soap sent a booklet with each box describing the products and listing the ingredients of the products.

This was my first box, and I loved it! The combo of shampoo and deep conditioner were perfect for my slightly frizzy but straight hair. After air-drying with no product, my hair looks like I blow dried and styled it. Pure magic. I loved all the scents, and this is my new favorite subscription.

I signed up for the quarterly and this was my first box. It was fantastic! I can’t say how much I love this. The scents are great and the names are fun. I wish I wasn’t overloaded with product now, I’d love to switch to monthly.

If you order after the 10th your first box will be May. Since the April box will bill on 3/10. It’s confusing to start a new FCS subscription, but all the items are all handmade and has to be preordered.

They’re working on either adding the ingredients back to the card or having it available on the website.
