This is one of those specimens that is much better in person than in photographs. It is heavy and solid and has some really interesting inclusions and shiny panes. Created by chaos, these beauties were unable to fully terminate, meaning there are these super interesting flat panes but no real points to speak of. They have fascinating clouds and inclusions that speak to the drama that was going on underground when they were born. This really interesting crystal makes a nice addition to my other pieces of quartz and brings an entirely new look to its more polished friends.

Enchanted Crystal March 2019 bonus specimens

Enchanted Crystal always sends bonus crystals or minerals in a small bag as well.

Marekanite

I had never heard of this stone, so I had to do a little research. It is actually a round form of obsidian and is also called "Apache Tears", a reference to a battle between a small group of Apache and US Calvarymen in Superior, AZ in the 1870s. When the Apache realized defeat was imminent, they rode their horses off a cliff to avoid being captured or killed. When their loved ones heard of their deaths, their tears turned into these stones. While I love legends like this and find they add so much to the lore of stones and minerals, this one is really very sad.

Orange Calcite

Much like the similarly sunny-hued carnelian, orange calcite is an amplifying stone. It is also a stone connected to my own personal star sign, Leo. I love how cheerful the color is.

Actinolite Quartz

I really love these little tiny included points! They have these really interesting green, brown, and orange inclusions, and each one is unique and lovely. Quartz is one of my favorite crystals because it comes in so many different colors and shapes. It also amplifies its surroundings, so use it to power up your other stones or hold it during your daily meditations.

Verdict: Enchanted Crystal is one of my favorite subscriptions because it is always so educational and informative. They also send along really unusual collector's pieces for someone like me who appreciates the odd and beautiful. I love my new piece of quartz and I have nothing like it in my entire collection! I also always enjoy the bonus minerals, because they are often new to me and then I have some fun doing research on them.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Is it a 3 month sub minimum? I can’t seem to be able to check out with just 1 month payment

I received my first box on Saturday and was thrilled when I opened it and discovered a huge piece of Amethyst as well as a bag of smaller crystals! This is definitely a fun sub and I can’t wait to see what I’ll receive next month!!

I was just coming to say the same thing – I recently signed up for my first box. it’s shipped so I should get it any day soon – I can’t wait!!

I’m getting the larger box and when I get it I’ll post the contents below in case anyone is interested in how to 2 boxes compare… I don’t think I’ve seen a review of the larger box, but maybe I just missed one.

BETH!! We got the larger box this month too!!!! My review should be up within the next few days. Let’s compare!

Beth

I got my big box (the $39 one)! FYI – I’m just learning about crystals and I don’t know much about the different grades. But to my untrained eye, I thought the items were awesome!

— Selenite spiral – this is probably the most beautiful crystal I’ve seen!! 5.5” long, about 0.75” dia. Pointed on one end, round on the other. Super shiny white color – almost glowing with brilliance!

— Peruvian pyrite (marked rare) – sphere 0.75” dia, entirely made of pyrite, lots of nicely shaped cubes sticking out.

— Madagascar candle quartz – this is a stone that’s new to me. 1” diameter base, about 2” long.

— Tibetan quartz (marked rare) – four of these, two at 1”, one at 1.25”, one at 1.75”. These are polished but still have rough spots, chips, inclusions.

— Amethyst cluster- roughly 2.5” square; really nice big crystals, deep purple. I’ve seen a lot of amethyst, and this one is *really* nice.

— Iceland spar calcite – roughly 2×1.5×0.5”. Mostly clear, some inclusions on one side. That’s my only disappointment – that it was not clearer, as I think it can be used as a prism.

— Crystal grid cloth – flower of life pattern.

— Packet of extras – the same provided in the above review: multiple little actinolite quartz points plus orange calcite and marekanite.

Can’t wait until next month!

I would love that Beth!

They only seem to review the smaller box on MSA but there are reviews of the bigger box on YouTube. The big box looks like a really excellent value. If we didn’t have a local gem faire here 3x a year, I would be all over this sub. But, I have gotten to know some of the vendors and get cut wicked deals on stones, crystals and minerals. I have a bit of an addiction to them lol. I still love to read the reviews every month though

LisaFalana

Great review Megan. Its funny how we never get the same stones with this sub. My main specimen is a candle quartz cluster which is super interesting as Ive never heard of it. I really love it. I’m always impressed with this particular box. I knew great things were coming when I read that the owner was attending the Tucson gem show.

Is the gem show also on your bucket list? It probably best I never make it there. I would go broke!
