Bluum February 2019 Review

This Bluum box was sent for my son, Parker, who is 2.5 years old. Let's see what we received this month:

Melissa & Doug See-Inside Numbers Peg Puzzle - Retail Value $7.99 (found here for $5.87)

It is always nice to get a Melissa & Doug item in a box since in my opinion, they are usually high-quality toys. This wooden number puzzle is actually one that we already own, but it will make a great gift or toy to donate to someone else! Please note that the photo with the opened puzzle is the old puzzle that we've had for a few years now. It is still in great condition despite being played with quite frequently! It features small pegs on top to make it easier for small hands to manipulate the pieces yet the puzzle still maintains a low profile, making it easier to store. I love that underneath are various brightly colored images to show the number and that they are shaped like the number as opposed to all being the same shape. Since the numbers only fit in their own specific slots it makes it easier for the child to complete this successfully.

Skip Hop Zoo Flip-Straw Bottle - Retail Value $8.00 (found here for $6.99)

This is another product that I'm familiar with and that I've purchased repeatedly for my kids. When my daughter was younger this was actually much easier for her to drink out of than a sippy cup that she had to tilt upward to drink from. I love that these feature such cute designs and are slim which makes them fit easily into cupholders and diaper bags. The plastic top when closed actually does a great job of keeping it leakproof. The only real downside to this bottle is that it didn't quite stand up to multiple drops onto the floor. It is BPA, Phthalate, and PVC free and holds 12 ounces of liquid and it is dishwasher safe, although I always hand wash ours since I worried the decal would come off.

This bottle is fairly easy to clean, although I strictly like to use this for water. The straw comes apart so that you can remove it and clean it. A simple straw brush helps to get anything out pretty easily, especially since the straw is shorter in length. The top straw piece is actually a softer rubber than the bottom piece which is stiffer. This allows the top straw to bend down when the lid is flipped closed so that liquid can't slip out. One thing I will note about this version that we received is that it didn't come with an extra straw which is usually pretty standard with these and it didn't include a carrying strap. The versions that I've linked to both include this though and I think they are both great features!

My Travel Tray - Retail Value $15

The mom in me is actually most excited about this item in the box. My son's car seat has two cupholders in it, but usually, we use one for a drink and one for snacks or toys. My son loves to play dinos in his car seat or color, but he always seems to drop everything on the floor which leads to meltdowns while I'm driving. Sounds fun, right? While this is designed for snacks, I think this will be the perfect solution since he can put toys or crayons on the large part of the tray and still use the cupholder part for his snacks and still have one cup holder on his car seat free for his drink. Bonus: this can be taken inside and will be much easier to clean out than his car seat cupholder!

The bottom piece is designed to fit right into your cupholder and in case it doesn't fit, the bottom comes off making it universal for most car seats and even your stroller. It is made with BPA, PHT, and PVC free materials and is dishwasher friendly. It looks like they also offer various colors as well! We have a plethora of cups and water bottles in our home and unfortunately, it didn't hold the ones we use most frequently which are our kids Contigo and Hydroflask bottles very well. They fit in the top, but I couldn't push them down to fit completely. It did fit the Skip Hop bottle easily though as well as various sippy cups.

Melissa & Doug Wooden Animal Magnets - Retail Value $11.99

This month we received a second Melissa & Doug item, this one I knew my son would go crazy for! He loves all things animals and was so excited to see these. I love that they come in their own wooden box which is great for storage, but I really wish it had a little lid or something! I do love that this animal set features realistic looking animals of various shapes and that they aren't limited to one type of animal, but cover a wide range.

These are just basic wooden pieces with a thin magnet on the back and while it isn't a super strong magnet, it is just enough to stick to surfaces but be easily removed by little hands.

All three of my kids have loved playing with these so far. We are currently painting our kitchen cabinets so I have been using our stainless steel trashcan to block our kitchen and it served as a great surface for the kids to stick their magnets to (I promise it's clean, other than their dirty kid fingerprints!). I asked them to categorize them based on different things such as animals with spots, animals with stripes, farm animals versus jungle animals and they were so cute working together to separate them!

Verdict: This month our Bluum box featured a lot of trusted brands that I was happy to see in our box. While the number puzzle is something we already have, it is still a great product that will be easy to donate to someone else. My kids were very happy with the animal magnets and I love the travel tray and can't wait to see how it works out for us. I think the Skip Hop bottle will get donated as well, but not because it isn't great, but rather because having three kids means you accumulate a lot of cups and we don't need another one at the moment! Although it is great to always have backups. This box costs $34 plus free shipping and the retail value of the items in our box comes to $42.98 which is pretty good considering most of the items were familiar brands that I consider to be good quality!

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? All orders are processed the first of every month and shipped out on the 9th. If you order today, you will start receiving a box for next month.

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I just had to post because my son is 2.5 also, and his name is Parker too!!! We have most of these toys as well, we love Melissa and Doug in our house- but I am super interested in the travel tray! I’ll keep an eye out for reviews on this sub, but for now I’ll be grabbing ideas from them!

Buyer beware, I called customer service when I was moving to pause my subscription. When I got settled a few months later, I called them to resume my subscription. They said there are no more prepaid orders left even though I had 2 or 3 more. I guess it still counted against my account while on pause. No amount of arguing worked. Shady company

That does not sound legal. You paid for something, and they did not give it to you. I would contact your bank and see if there’s some way to do a charge back or something
