Ahhh Sugar Sugar “Shamrocks on Bourbon Street” February 2019 Review
This box comes with company information listed on the box (and I am digging the unicorn).
It also comes with an info sheet for the included products. The info sheet got a small makeover, and my eyes appreciate the bigger font! Also, how cute is the original artwork featured in the info sheet and throughout the box?
King Cake Bath Frosting, 8 oz – Listed Value $14.25
Living in South Louisiana, King Cake is a state tradition honored religiously between the New Year and Fat Tuesday (aka, the season of Mardi Gras!). This smells just like that sweet pastry with notes of cinnamon, flaky croissant, and warm butter- and I was absolutely delighted to open the jar and see the baby that comes in the cakes (the tradition is if your slice of king cake has the baby, you bring the next king cake). If you aren’t familiar with the bath frostings from Ahhh Sugar Sugar, they are whipped soaps that provide a hydrating cleanse with a tiny bit of exfoliation thanks to a few scattered sugar granules.
Twenty Four Karat Tea Tonic, 2 oz – Listed Value $12
This toner is a new product creation from Ahhh Sugar Sugar! Made with aloe vera, essential oils, dried flowers, and rosehip seed oil and jojoba oil, it is designed to refresh tired skin. Unfortunately, essential oils can be irritating to some skin types even though they're natural ingredients, and I experienced a slight burning when I applied this to my face. If essential oils don't irritate your skin (everyone is different, after all!), you'll probably love this toner.
Category Five Spritz, 4 oz – Listed Value $7.95
This is a multi-purpose spray that can be used for your hair, body, or linens! It has a delicious scent blend of frozen margarita and tropical hurricane, and it fits perfectly into the Mardi Gras theme of the box.
French Quarter Lace Whipped Meringue, 4 oz – Listed Value $7.50
I love the whipped meringue lotions from Ahhh Sugar Sugar- they are so nourishing without being so heavy that my skin feels greasy. A little goes a long way, and this is a scent blend of vanilla, orchid flower, freesia, and powdered sugar.
Zero Lucks Given Hand Sanitizer, 1 oz – Listed Value $3.50
This hand sanitizer has a scent blend of pineapple, coconut, honeydew melon, and grenadine. I would probably love this scent as a lotion or bath frosting, but mixed with the alcohol that disinfects your hands this scent smelled just a bit off to me.
The Verdict: Holy Glitter Batman! This box was packaged with glitter that got everywhere, and that is really the biggest takeaway I have from the box. Other than that, I thought they absolutely nailed the joint Mardi Gras/St. Patrick’s Day theme, and the king cake bath frosting makes me ridiculously happy. According to the listed values, this box had a total value of $45.20, which is a few dollars more than the cost of the box plus shipping. One of the non-monetary values of this subscription is getting brand new scents and exclusive products, so if you don’t find value in that this may not be the subscription for you. I absolutely love the attention to detail and handcrafted nature of the products included every month, so I definitely think the value is there.
