Trunk Club January 2019 - Box Review Front

Trunk Club is a clothing styling service for both men and women. Subscribers work closely with their stylist to find a selection of pieces to try on at home, and they receive a trunk shortly thereafter. Trunks can be ordered as often as you like, so you can try it once, or have a trunk sent to you quarterly or monthly. Or even more frequently!

Trunk Club Plus Clothing January 2019 Review

Trunk Club January 2019 - Booklet Front Top

So first, a little more about how Trunk Club works. When I signed up, I took a pretty lengthy style questionnaire online. Then I was matched with a stylist who asked me even more about what I like and what I was looking for via an online chat. Based on this information, she selected several items for me to try on at home. She then sent me a link to preview all my items! There is also an option to allow your stylist to send a few surprise pieces.

This packet was included in my trunk.

The front of the enclosed booklet now has instructions!

Trunk Club January 2019 - Booklet Inside Top 2

Inside is a note from my stylist, Sydney. It explains why she chose this month’s pieces for me and gives a bit of styling advice. I like how accessible my stylist is.

Trunk Club January 2019 - Booklet Inside Top 3

This is my invoice. It lists the items I was sent and the cost to keep each item. My $25 styling fee will be deducted from anything I decide to keep.

These items were also in the packet. When I’ve finished repackaging the items I don’t want to keep in the box, I just put this return label on it and use the tape straps to tape it back up! So convenient!

Trunk Club January 2019 - Tie Hem Tee by Caslon Closeup Front 1 Trunk Club January 2019 - Tie Hem Tee by Caslon Closeup Front 2

Trunk Club January 2019 - Side Seam Track Pants by Sejour Front

Tie Hem Tee by Caslon – Cost to keep $49 (currently on sale for $29.40!)

I love this tee! This is possibly the first time I have seen a tie hem detail on a top with a flowing cut, and I think it’s adorable! I also love the diagonal seaming in the front. It’s a cotton knit, my personal favorite, so it is really comfortable and has a bit of give. Plus I think it’s reasonably flattering. Score!

Side Seam Track Pants by Sejour – Cost to keep $89 (currently on sale for $53.40!)

These poly spandex blend pants have a satin stripe down the side seams. They are nice and loose and flowy and comfortable! They’re also a good length and they feel good on me. I just have never understood the tuxedo pants for women phenomenon. They make me feel like I’m in a marching band!

Trunk Club January 2019 - Seamed Riding Jacket by Nic + Zoe Front

Seamed Riding Jacket by Nic + Zoe – Cost to keep $178 (currently on sale for $142.40!)

This jacket is really unusual! It is a cotton knit blend, but highly tailored and full of seams everywhere. It’s really comfortable, too. I just don’t know about spending that much for a cotton knit jacket. I do love cotton knit, but one of the things I love about it is its affordability…

Trunk Club January 2019 - Surplice Knit Top by Halogen Closeup Front 1 Trunk Club January 2019 - Surplice Knit Top by Halogen Closeup Front 2

Surplice Knit Top by Halogen – Cost to keep $39

This poly spandex blend top comes in a variety of colors and prints, and I specifically chose this print because it is so unusual! I love the colors and prints! The top also fits well and is comfortable, and it feels really well made for the price. I used to wear tops like this all the time, but I don’t know how flattering it is now that I’m a bit older. I do like that it is not too revealing, as many surplice tops are. I have kind of mixed feelings about this one.

Trunk Club January 2019 - Yummy High-Low Long Sleeve Tunic by Dantelle Closeup Front 1 Trunk Club January 2019 - Yummy High-Low Long Sleeve Tunic by Dantelle Closeup Front 2

Trunk Club January 2019 - Catherine Boyfriend Jeans by KUT From the Kloth Top

Yummy High/Low Long Sleeve Tunic by Dantelle – Cost to keep $49 (currently on sale for $29.40!)

I can’t get over how soft this poly blend tunic is! It has a really unusual texture, almost like cashmere. I think the print is unusual as well, which I like. It also has a good fit and cut, and looks pretty cute on. I think I’ll keep it! I can’t see why not!

Catherine Boyfriend Jeans by KUT From the Kloth – Cost to keep $98

Kut From the Kloth has become my new favorite brand of jeans! They are so soft and fit so well, they are super comfortable. I love the dark wash of this particular pair, too.

The Verdict: I am a big fan of Trunk Club! I got a lot of great pieces this month! I think the tie hem tee might be my favorite. Trunk Club is a little on the spendy side, but it’s still loads of fun to try all the pieces!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Trunk Club curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $25 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the 6 items inside is $502. The cost of each item is listed alongside it above, but if I choose to keep anything, the $25 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase. That’s an average of $83.67 per item, which is on par with the brands included.

  1. I love the last outfit on you. Very flattering!

  2. Did you keep anything?

  3. I’m confused by the cost to keep versus the sale price. We’re you able to get the sale items for the lower price?

  4. KFTK is one of my favorite brands for jeans, and the Catherine Boyfriend style is great. 🙂 Glad you got some!

    • I got a pair from FFF style, and maybe I just got a bad pair, but I really don’t like them at all. They bag something horrible. The knees are baggy, the crotch is baggy, the butt is baggy (and I have quite a sizable ass, so there’s no question of filling them out). Also, they’re a size 2….. I haven’t worn a 2 in years….. and the waist is so huge. I even tried to shrink them, and nothing. My first experience with KFTK jeans was not good

      • I find they bag out too. Also I take a smaller size in their jeans.
