The next card goes over the two included products and why they love them.

The Detox Box January 2019 beauty chef Glow inner beauty powder

The Beauty Chef GLOW Inner Beauty Powder, full-size 5.3 oz. - Retail Value $70.00 (found here for $20.00)

This beauty powder is packed with superfoods, prebiotics, and probiotics which is wild since I JUST watched an infomercial via an Instagram ad of a different product talking about those three things being super important for gut health. As you can see, I'm curious about this whole sector of the beauty industry.

So, this has "over 20 natural ingredients including maqui berries, dunaliella salina, and queen garnet plum" that are supposed to help my skin have a healthy glow. The idea here is that you start with gut health and your outer beauty will fall into place. It also has "vitamin C for collagen formation, normal immune function, and to help protect cells from oxidative stress, as well as zinc to help maintain healthy hair, skin, and nails".

The powder itself is an orange-brown when you open it but then turns a beautiful deep purplish-red once you mix it with water. They of course also suggest adding it to a smoothie or even a breakfast bowl. This tastes really good when first drinking it but it does have a bit of a strange aftertaste. Nothing that would make me shy away from though. I think adding this to a smoothie or another recipe is probably the way to go just to mask all that super healthy stuff in there. 😉 Only time will tell if this changes my skin or digestion. We'll have to see how it goes. Important to note: this is labeled to be refrigerated after opening and to consume within 90 days, which I wouldn't have guessed before reading.

The Detox Box January 2019 beauty chef collagen inner beauty boost

The Beauty Chef Collagen Inner Beauty Boost, 6.76 oz. - Retail Value $25.00

I have to admit, I've recently been interested in trying collagen as a dietary supplement since I've been seeing it show up in beauty boxes in several forms. The idea for this is to promote the natural production of collagen which will make the skin "radiant and plump-looking". I feel super lucky to have plump radiant skin as it is, but a little more wouldn't hurt, right? It's also going to help promote healthy hair and nail growth which are both things I'm on-board with improving.

This concentrated elixir is made with organic maqui berry, acai, papaya, blueberry, goji berry, and pomegranate powders with grape seed extract, zinc, and vitamin C. That's all stuff that I like and I know is good for me. It comes out of the bottle almost looking like berry cough syrup, just not quite as thick. The directions have me mix it with water to dilute and I have to say it's pretty tasty although slightly perfumey on the tongue. I was expecting something unpleasant, but this tastes like any berry drink mix and can be added to smoothies to make it even more enjoyable. The info card even points me to a web address that has a recipe for a strawberry avocado & mint smoothie which sounds divine. I can't yet say if this will make a difference in my hair and skin but I'm all for using it up to see what happens. I love the idea of starting from the inside instead of just using topical products. Like the powder, it's good to note that it says to refrigerate after opening and to use within 90 days.

Verdict: The Detox Box costs $55.00 per month and this time I received two products worth $95.00 total. I think that's a great deal especially since I've been toying with the idea of trying some consumable beauty products lately. This way, I can try two different ones for almost half the cost and both turned out to not taste too bad at all.

Thanks for putting that note in about refrigerating the powder after opening! I’ve used both of these before (a deluxe sample of the liquid and a full-size of the powder), and I remembered the liquid needed to be refridgerated, but completely forgot the powderdid. I use these types of supplements pretty inconsistently (just on workdays and when I remember to) so I’m never sure if they’re actually doing anything, but I figure something’s better than nothing! Plus, I always thought these two supplements were some of the best I’ve tasted (I only mix mine in water)!
