SheaMoisture 4-in-1 Bourbon Commodore All-Over Wash, 2 fl oz. – Estimate Value $1.67 (Buy full-size 10.3 oz for $8.59)
Made with natural and organic ingredients, this 4-in-1 wash can be used as a shampoo, conditioner, cleanser, and moisturizer for hair and body. The shea butter and bay laurel in this wash will leave you looking good and smelling great.
This was the first product my husband tried and he wasn't too impressed. He used it to shampoo his hair and felt like the product was too thin and runny. He ended up using most of the sample just to get a good lather going. For coarse hair, this product needs to be thicker. It did leave his hair clean and smelling good. He's just concerned at the amount of product he'd need to use each time and felt he'd only get 3 or 4 washes out of a full-sized bottle. His current shampoo lasts much longer and is cheaper.

Made with maracuja oil and shea butter, this wash gives your beard a deep clean without drying out your facial hair and skin. This wash will leave your beard looking meticulously groomed.
This product, he loved! Unlike the 4-in-1 wash, this product is thick and a little went a long way. He was super impressed at how great it smelled. Often times, men's products have an overpowering and sometimes unpleasant scent but that wasn't the case with this wash. It left his beard clean, moisturized and it felt and looked softer. Not only did he love it, but he also said that this is a product he'd recommend to his clients.
SheaMoisture Maracuja & Shea Oils Beard Conditioning Oil, FULL SIZE! – Retail Value $8.29
The perfect follow-up to the beard wash, apply this maracuja oil and shea butter conditioning oil to your beard to restore moisture and leave your beard soft and conditioned.
We’re on the fence about this product. It smells great, just like the beard wash but, he’s hesitant about using oil on his face. Black men, due to their often course and coily facial hair, have to actively work to prevent bumps from irritating ingrown hairs. He worries that added oils can exacerbate the situation. However, high-quality oils shouldn't have this effect so he's willing to give it a try over time. He also suggests only using a little. No man wants his beard looking too shiny!
Uncle Jimmy’s Beard Softener Conditioning Balm, FULL SIZE! – Retail Value $9.89
Use this beard balm to moisturize dry and brittle beards. Made with black seed, honey, and essentials oils, this beard balm will leave your beard soft, fuller and more manageable.
This is another winner! He really liked this product. This balm left his beard so soft and moisturized. I thought it made his beard look great and more tamed. His only complaint is that it made his grays shiner. This is another product that he intends to continue using.
Verdict: My husband enjoyed trying the products in this box! With this being a Black History Month exclusive box, I love that the box includes clean products from black beauty brands. The beard wash and conditioning balms were his favorite products, while he was a bit on the fence about the beard oil and not too impressed with the 4-in-1 wash. He enjoyed partnering with me on this review and is happy to have found at least two new products to use and recommend to his clients.
This Target Beauty Box cost $14.99 and has an estimated retail value of $28.84. That is almost a 50% savings and a good value on its own and compared to other Target beauty boxes. Most Target beauty boxes cost $7 but I have seen other exclusive Target beauty boxes sold for $14.99. For the exclusive boxes, I expect to receive mostly full-size and high-quality items and I expect the box to be a great value. Of the three Black History Month exclusive boxes, this box was the closest to hit the mark with the highest retail value and the most product.
