February 2019 Target Beauty Box Review

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Info1

This month’s box is all about pampering yourself, starring 8 items to keep your hair and skin fresh and healthy. This info card provides a short description of each item sampled and on the flip side a Target coupon good for $3 off a beauty purchase of $15 or more.

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Info2

Moving on to Target’s TLC beauty picks!

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Nexxus

Nexxus Color Assure Vibrancy Retention Shampoo, 3fl oz - Estimated Value $1.86 (Buy 13.5oz for $8.39)

Nexxus Color Assure Vibrancy Retention Conditioner, 3fl oz - Estimated Value $4.44 (Buy 13.5fl oz for $19.99)

I don’t currently have any color in my hair, so I can’t really speak to the color protection aspect of this set; however, I did like that my hair wasn’t weighed down, and both products smell lovely. The consistency of each is thicker than average, which made it easy to work with in the shower. These products are sulfate and silicone free, and they also include replenishing protein and polymers to keep hair radiant and shiny.

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Love

Love Beauty & Planet Citrus Peel Dry Shampoo, 1.15oz - Estimated Value $1.87 (Buy 4.3oz for $6.99)

As far as dry shampoo goes, I am not a picky consumer. I receive so many in subscription boxes, and I have my immediate favorites and some “meh” products as well; this dry shampoo wasn’t very hard-hitting concerning oil control, texture or volume, but it smells really fresh. This dry shampoo will be perfect for a refresher on day one hair, but it wouldn’t be my recommendation for a day two fix.

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Pantene

Pantene Airspray Hairspray, 1oz - Estimated Value $0.45 (Buy 11oz for $4.99)

Hairspray is such a basic necessity, so it is nice to have a trial size for travel or on the go styling. This is your basic “touchable” formula; it has a great fragrance, and it doesn’t cause crunchy strands or tangled tresses at the end of the day. If you are looking for something to really cement a style, I would recommend a higher hold level, but for my needs, level 4 is perfect.

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - No7

No7 Laboratories Line Correcting Booster Serum, .1oz, - Estimated Value $8.40 (Buy .5oz for $41.99, on sale here for $33.59)

Wow! I didn’t realize No7 had some higher end pricing! The size of this sample was laughable at first, but its estimated value is almost the price of this entire box! It is hard to get a feel for a skincare product in such a short period of time, but I did like the lightweight texture of this serum, and since it is a booster, you can just add it to your everyday products to up the anti-aging, line-fighting impact. I also love that this product is unscented and safe for all skin types.

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Mask1 Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Mask2

Que Bella Professional Selfie Ready Sheet Mask, 1 mask - Retail Value $2.49

I haven’t had a chance to try this sheet mask yet since I am always in a rush to get ready and out the door, but I like the premise of a makeup priming mask. The ingredients, including sodium hyaluronate, caffeine and glycerin look really skin-friendly, too, so I will definitely be putting this to work when I have an extra 15 minutes to spare.

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Dove

Dove Shampoo/Conditioner 2-in-1 Clean+Fresh, 1.8fl oz - Estimated Value $0.74 (Buy 12fl oz for $4.89)

I couldn’t find the “Clean & Fresh” version of this 2-in-1, but I linked a similar mint version. My fiancé is hooked on the apple scented Head and Shoulders 2-in-1, so this sample went straight to him, and he is loving it. He said he would consider putting this Dove product into rotation with the Head & Shoulders, so hopefully, we can find this version in store.

Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Native Target Beauty Box Review February 2019 - Native2

Native Coconut & Vanilla Deodorant Mini, .35oz - Retail Value $2.99

This natural deodorant is free of aluminum, parabens, and phthalates and is cruelty-free! The coconut scent reminds me of coconut sunscreen, one of my very favorite scents! It feels moisturizing, is easy to glide on and kept me fresh throughout a pretty low-key day. This solid feels so comfortable on sensitive skin but imparts a white cast on the pits, so I wouldn’t recommend on a sleeveless day.

Verdict: This box has a total value of about $23.24, which is triple the $7 price tag of this box; Target Beauty Box is so great if you love to sample different brands on the cheap, and the best thing about this box is how handy each sample is to travel with. This box had a lot of hair products, plus a few other items to pamper yourself this month. I liked the array of items, but I thought a lip product or a perfume sample would have been ideal for a Valentine’s Day box; regardless, I will definitely use up all of these products, including the $3 coupon, which is always a very welcome bonus to this box. Plus, this month’s box is gorgeous!!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available!

Value Breakdown: At $7 for this box, here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • Nexxus Color Assure Vibrancy Retention Shampoo: $0.56
  • Nexxus Color Assure Vibrancy Retention Conditioner: $1.34
  • Love Beauty & Planet Citrus Peel Dry Shampoo: $0.56
  • Pantene Airspray Hairspray: $0.14
  • No7 Laboratories Line Correcting Booster Serum: $2.53
  • Que Bella Professional Selfie Ready Sheet Mask: $0.75

What do you think of the February Target Beauty Box?

Abby Holsinger
I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

I liked it so much I ordered a second one…the box came in two days!

JuJu

I liked this box even better in person, both the shampoos/ conditioners and the deodorant are the perfect size for travel, and I do like their respective scents. First thing I noticed as well.

Also, I didn’t initially that the hairspray is alcohol-free, and alcohol is the reason I don’t normally use hairspray, so I might just give this one a try.

Good value all in all.

I remember when these Target boxes would sell out within minutes of being available. Enough with the natural deodorants!

Some people are so hard to please…..

Actually this one did sell out then a few days there were more in stock.

Lots of people like natural deodorants, and I only remember there being one in the last 2 boxes. I prefer them, because other deodorants irritate my pits, and this is a good way to try them out before shelling out the bucks to purchase one that may or may not work for me.

Some people are just impossible to please

I love natural deodorants and am always excited to try a new one. This little native sample sells for $2.99 at Target. The Nexxus samples sell for $2.89 each. They have an entire section of sample sizes. The Love Beauty Planet deodorant in the previous box was full size. That is $6.99. Target does a great job curating these boxes. And for $7, they are a great buy. If you don’t like an item, pass it on to a friend, family member or a local shelter. Someone out there will be happy to receive it.

Abby

I use natural DO for that reason, too! It is so hard to find one to feel confident in, so I always love getting them in boxes.

I need to start subscribing to target & birchbox because I love their travel size shampoos. I use them all of the time and don’t have to worry about replacing them.all of the time….

You can not subscribe to Target. They put boxes up for sale usually once a month and usually on Tuesday. You can sign-up for alerts so you know when a box becomes available.

I got the Native deodorant in another box and agree about all the white residue, holy cow. It does work pretty well though.

Ugh, why do my comments keep getting lost?! I’ll try again.

I passed on this box initially, only wanting to try the deodorant and serum. Then it sold out. Now I’m tempted again…

Somewhat relatedly, I was at Target today and stumbled upon a skincare beauty box in clearance. One of the ones that was $14.99 at Christmas time. Only $4.48, so I grabbed one. They only had about 3. I’m not sure if it would be in other stores, or if my store just found them in the back or something.

I’m almost out of shampoo so im tempted to get this.. do you guys know if this ships fast?

I got mine within the week I ordered it. I think it arrived last Thursday and I think I ordered it Monday…!

Hope March is much better as I don’t need hair products – travel-sized or otherwise. I liked last month’s box, though!

Drminniecooper

The nexxus is not silicone free.

Cathy

My bottle says silicone and sulfate free

This looks like a random box of leftovers hair products. They included a full size natural deodorant in the last box too. The no.7 is the only product worth trying.

Reply ButtonReply

Snowhitetwin

This box was meh…how much hair stuff does one need in a $7 box? Plus, the high value item is a booster, which translates into something I don’t really need.

But thank you for the review!!

Dawn

I must wash my hair too often, because I can ALWAYS use shampoo and conditioner.

Rosette

Seriously. Can we move on & go back to makeup
