Sunday Riley Love Edition Subscription Box Review

There are two Sunday Riley products in this box, and they come in a super cute reusable pouch made of blue heart-shaped bubble wrap.

Like the last box, neither product is a legitimate full-size but I personally think they're enough to get me excited.

Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil, 15 ml - Retail Value $40.00

This product isn't yet available to purchase on its own, but was noted in their sneak peek and it was also featured in the January Allure Beauty Box in the same size which is the smaller of the 2 sizes they typically offer. I've been all about turmeric recently so I was really pumped to see it as an ingredient in this face oil, as well as getting to try it before it's widely available. It's incredibly lightweight and really does make my skin glow by glistening as I massage it into my face. So far, I really like this product and love that it's packed with Vitamin C as well as "evening primrose oil" which sounds enchanting. I've been using this in both the evenings and the morning in lieu of my other face oils and it does absorb rather easily as the bottle says. It has a nice light scent and I only need a very small amount (half a dropper if that) to cover my entire face and neck.

Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum, 15 ml - Listed Retail Value $45.00 (found here)

This isn't the full-size judging by their site, but I wouldn't have known if I didn't look it up because it's a good size bottle for a product of this type. This one is called a serum, but as you can see it looks and feels a lot more like a moisturizer, so I've been using it after the CEO Glow facial oil to double up on my brightening products. Using these two together has left me with really hydrated skin that does actually have a nice glisten to it. I feel good about wearing these alone to go out (or to bed), but my makeup also goes over it flawlessly. It doesn't contain any SPF though, so if you want to keep covered, you may want to add an SPF spray overtop.

The Perfect V VV Cream Gentle Exfoliator, 50 ml - Retail Value $34.00

I'm familiar with The Perfect V since getting it in another subscription box a while back. This brand is all about primping your lady parts and their exfoliating cream contains tiny scrubbies that gently wash away any dry or dead skin preventing your V from looking and feeling it's best. Do I think I need a product exclusively for this? Not really. Am I still going to use it because why not? Yep! I've used this a few times thus far in the shower and while I haven't personally noticed a dramatic change, I feel that my girl deserves the best!

In addition to the exfoliator, they included a coupon to get a free single VV Beauty Sheet by using the provided code, but it seems like you'd have to order something from The Perfect V to be able to redeem it. They put a $2.00 value on it, but it's more of a coupon for a gift with purchase in this respect, so I'll only treat it like a bonus. Mine was missing from the box, but they we able to provide me with the details on how to redeem.

Oribe Serene Scalp Soothing Leave-On Treatment, 50 ml - Retail Value $48.00

I'm on sort of a strict hair regimen right now as I try to revive my super thinning hair, but I did end up giving this a go one morning after I ran out of another product. The tip is rather interesting and makes for easy application to the scalp, and I must say that it is quite soothing. The products I've been using have my scalp much drier than usual which of course adds to some discomfort and itchiness that this product seems to lessen. It's probably great for those with dandruff but it also mentions using it after coloring to help soothe the scalp. I probably won't use this super often but will keep it around for when I feel the need for it.

Corpus Natural Deodorant in Santalum, full size 2.6 oz. – Retail Value $22.00

YES! I was really stoked to see this full-size baby in the box because I received a travel-size a couple months ago in another box, loved it, and almost ordered the full-size recently. Glad I held off! This scent is different than the "Third Rose" scent I received in the other box, but both are lovely. This one has sandalwood in it which perfectly matches the cold-weather fragrance (Book from Commodity) that I've been wearing recently. I like that this stick is more clear and glides on effortlessly under my arm, as opposed to other natural deodorants that are chalky and a little more difficult to apply. Not only is it aluminum and paraben-free, but it also doesn't contain talc or baking soda (which the later might be an irritant for me). I'm really loving this one and am tickled pink to add it to my growing collection of natural deodorants. Other possible variants are scents: The Botanist, or Cedar Flora.

Lipstick Queen Method in the Madness Lipstick in Peculiar Pink – Retail Value $25.00

Lipstick Queen always brings new and exciting things to the lipstick game whether it's color changing shades or just fun packaging. This tube is part of their "Method to the Madness" collection and features a beautiful swirl of colors to make up this hot pink hue. The formula is incredibly creamy and hydrating so my lips don't look dry or cracked like they sometimes can when I wear more matte colors. The packaging alone is just so super fun and pulling it out of my bag to apply immediately puts a smile on my face. This rosy pink is a great color for Spring as well! Reckless Red was the other possible variant for this one.

Maison Du Soir Robe in Black, size M/L - Listed Retail Value $100.00

This robe was made exclusively for the box, so it's not listed on their site for sale. It's closest to this one but doesn't have the same hems or pockets (at all). The Sunday Riley blog post has the value listed as $100 which seems fair. This robe is a slightly pared down version, but still extremely nice and well-made. I've never been a robe person, but this one is definitely changing my mind! The fabric is incredibly soft (65% polyester, 31% rayon, 4% spandex)) and feels great against my skin. I got the M/L size and think it fits great! For reference, I'm 5'3" and normally wear size 10 jeans and small-medium tops. I love that it came in black instead of a colorful pattern that doesn't suit me. It has kimono-style sleeves that come down past my elbows and a thin belt that threads through a loop on each side. Now that I have this, I can just throw it on to make coffee in the morning or run around the house when my roommate is home without having to put on actual clothing. I feel so free! It happens to be machine washable which is a must in my household as well.

Maude Vibe Powerful Personal Massager in Grey - Retail Value $45.00

You may know me from some of my other reviews where I talk about wonderful adult toys so I was overjoyed to see this beautiful minimal number from Maude. I've been seeing Instagram ads for this brand and must admit have been curious to try some of their products. This soft grey color is absolutely perfect and the medical grade silicone is some of the softest I've ever felt on a vibe. They keep it simple with just one button which powers it on and toggles through the three constant vibrations in varying intensities. It really gets the job done simply and effortlessly. It's accompanied with its own charging cord so there's no need to stock up on batteries. Just plug it into the back port (concealed for waterproof ease) after use so it's ready to go the next time. Another great addition is the cotton zipper pouch case it comes with so you can keep it all together when not in use (or traveling). This is a great toy to start your collection, or even to simplify the one you may already have.

Rifle Paper Co. 2019 Juliet Rose Everyday Pocket Agenda - Retail Value $14.00 (found here for $5.60)

The last item of the box is a really pretty little planner from Rifle Paper Co. If you're like me, you love the convenience of your smartphone, but can't help but be wistful for the days of writing down plans in a little book like this. I found that writing things down really help my memory retain plans or action items, and I don't think typing it into my phone is quite the same. This pocket agenda has monthly overviews, then weekly breakdowns, as well as space for important dates and lined paper in the back for miscellaneous notes. You can tell right away from the florals and gold accents that this is Rifle Paper Co who is a leading purveyor of beautiful paper goods.

Verdict: I am in awe of this box! As someone who sees a LOT of boxes come past my desk, I have to say that I am utterly impressed with the curation and quality of all of the items in this box. Even the cheaper ones are still from popular reputable brands, and the overall value is outrageously good. While this is a pricer quarterly box at a cost of $95.00, I estimate this box to be worth about $373! I think it's 100% worth every penny and would personally rather spend more to get products I'm excited about from tried and true or up and coming brands. I'm most excited about the Maude toy, and Maison Du Soir Robe, but was also really excited to finally try the really popular Sunday Riley products. I think they're doing a great job with this box so far and hope they keep it up for the future!

To Wrap Up:

When I ordered the back-ordered box a while back, it said it would ship on the 28th of February. Has anybody gotten their tracking for the box that ordered after they ran out? I sent them an email inquiring but they still haven’t gotten back to me in the last few days. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Steph M

I received a ship notice today! I had almost written this off as having to wait until next season…

Reply ButtonReply

Victoria

When is the next season anyway? Glad you got your shipping notice!

Valerie M

Hi, it says this box is sold out but you can still order it. Does that mean I will get this exact box or a different box? Thank you

Reply ButtonReply

Maria

I just ordered my box today. It states on their website that it’s on back ordered. My receipt states that I am purchasing the love edition 2019

Reply ButtonReply

Valerie M

Thank you Maria, did you get charged right away?

Jenn

someone stole mine when it was delivered today. 😢 I don’t know if I should ask for a refund or a replacement. or just eat the cost. I only behave things stolen maybe twice a year and I hate contacting companies about it because I always feel like they think I’m lying. And it’s also not their fault it was stolen. But it’s not mine either. Argh. sometimes I hate people. Specifically the people who steal things that don’t belong to them.

Reply ButtonReply

T.Marie

That sucks do bad. I had a neighbor (who was just evicted) that stole my Allure boxes. It was so bad, I say in the hall waiting for my mail after having 4 stolen ( 1 being a replacement!!) I contacted Allure each time and they sent a replacement. I would contact them and see if you can work something out.

Reply ButtonReply

Victoria

I would click the “didn’t receive your box?” button on the email they send when your package is delivered and see where that takes you. I would definitely contact them and see what they say; you can have FedEx hold the package at one of their pick-up locations. That stinks.

Reply ButtonReply

Jenn

I’ll try that button, thanks. I never have a problem with usps and there is a UPS station nearby so it’s easy to have things held. The FedEx holding center is way far away though and not really an option. I wish I could tell what shipping service is used before I order things because I’d never order Fed Ex. I think there are people who follow the ups and fed ex trucks around here (I’m not in a bad neighborhood, but am in a city). Fed Ex always puts packages in the most obvious place and doesn’t even ring the bell (I actually had someone at home yesterday to get it but he didn’t know it had been delivered because they didn’t knock or ring the bell). agh.

Heather

So sorry that happened to you 🙁 I’ve only ever had one package stolen in my life but it was an irreplaceable dress 🙁 If I were you I would contact Sunday Riley and let them know that your package was stolen, they might have you check with your local post office to make sure it didn’t some how end up back there- but then they will probably replace it for you. Good companies will have some allowances and expectations for things like this to happen to packages. Good luck!

Just had to add my comments for anyone searching these reviews in the future. I loved my box. They feature high-quality products, excellent sizes, and a great mix of known brands and brands to discover. I am delighted by every single product with the exception of the planner, since I’m devoted to my bullet journal. That will make a lovely gift though. I also thought it was pretty charming that they actually called me to ask what size robe I wanted.

Reply ButtonReply

Paulene

I can’t speak on every item as I haven’t tried them all, but I personally think this box is terrible. I’m a 10-12 and the robe is too narrow in the hips. It gapes in the front. It’s also incredibly thin and see through. The deodorant smells so bad. The lipstick is Barbie hot pink. The planner is smaller than my hand. If I could go back in time, I would have never ordered this box.

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

I am a 12 -14 , so i decided to get the m/l robe because the sizing said it goes up to a size 14 and i didn’t want it to be too loose, but now its too small! I am beyond disappointed because it’s kind of the hero item, even though it’s a no way worth $100 cuz it is super crazy thin

Reply ButtonReply

michelle

I agree – it’s very thin, see through when I hold it up to the light. It fits fine on top but gapes open, but barely closes on bottom. I was also surprised to be disappointed with the lipstick – it is cotton candy pink and looks nothing like the swatch in the review. I loved the other color we got from PSMH last Fall, but this one is terrible.

Reply ButtonReply

Tara m

I just got mine and really liked it!

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

How is the robe?

Reply ButtonReply

nika

I am size 4-6 and it looks AWESOME! Slick, soft material, 3/4 sleeve, so soft. It is cold here in Colorado, but in a few months – can’t wait to wear it … great for “overnight” date

Emily

I like the robe enough to keep, but the fit is not ideal. I’m a size 10 usually and the M/L is too narrow in the hips. Fits okay up top. I prefer the way it looks worn open so not a total loss for me.

michelle

I posted on full spoilers that my XL/XXL robe barely closes, and I’m a 14/16 petite! That robe is supposed to go up to 20. I wonder if anyone finds it small?

Flora

I haven’t been impressed with any of Sunday Riley’s items (CEO flash serum, Good Genes) but I’ve enjoyed the CEO oil from my Allure box and I’m looking forward to trying the eye cream in my Feb Birchbox. I’m just not impressed with the rest of the box so this will be a pass. But, the bubble bag is really cute…I guess they are stealing that from Glossier.

Reply ButtonReply

Shelli

Amazing box! I’d rather spend the extra $$ and skip FFF! Thanks for the awesome review!

Reply ButtonReply

michelle r

That is exactly what I did. I was considering FFF but kind of mediocre on it then saw this … and ordered it.

Kristin

Ordered last night and I received shipping notice that it will be here on Tuesday!

Marne, Im having a thinning hair problem also, and am having no luck figuring out what to do. You mentioned you are on a regimen…. Would you mind telling me hwat you are doing and if its helping? you could pm me if you would rather, its tycomon at Hotmail. Thanks!!

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

Hey Kim!
I’m just using Nioxin since a hairdresser friend told me that it does work. I’m on week 5 or so but so far I’ve seen no difference. It does say that 6 weeks is the minimum to see results, so I’m still hoping for the best. I started my journey just trying some natural tea tree oil products and the like but didn’t have any luck. It runs in my family, so I may just be stuck with it!

Reply ButtonReply

Sarah

I used the HCG Protocol from my doctor and lost 75lbs in seven months. It made my hair start falling out in clumps, and it didn’t start growing back. I’m a beauty and I went through a lot of brands until I found something that worked.

I know it’s pricey, but I use the Oribe Gold Lust line, and my hair is finally starting to grow back. I know it’s frustrating, the short hairs as it grows back, but it’s working. I naturally have a lot of very thick, healthy hair.

I also use the Oribe Texturing Spray at the roots when my hair is dry. Just flip your head over, spray at the roots, and massage in like dry shampoo.

I don’t know if this helps, but I know what a struggle it is to have thinning hair.

amysoup777

I would love to know also please! ❤

Jen

Ordered yesterday right after the spoilers were posted and woke up to a shipment email. It’s expected to arrive on Feb. 14th. I sure hope that it comes on time or earlier.

Reply ButtonReply

Meep

Hey, Marne, you mentioned being on a strict regimen for thinning hair; just wondering what products you’re using & if they seem to be working? Excellent review, by the way!

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

Hey Meep + Dani,

Apologies, I wasn’t keeping up with the comments!
I wish you both luck!

Reply ButtonReply

Dani

I’d love to know too but I think maybe she’s not able to say for whatever reason because several of us have asked and I haven’t seen a response unfortunately. I desperately need to find something. Not only is my already baby fine hair thinning, it’s got tons of split ends, and it’s breaking like crazy especially all along my hairline and on both sides. I don’t understand it. I rarely color it (and don’t use bleach or similar), I NEVER heat style, and I almost never use hair products. Plus I use good brands of shampoo & conditioner and I deep condition once a week! My only possible explanation is that I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism.

This edition of the box should be marked NSFW in the title due to the contents…

Reply ButtonReply

pb

I thought it was a diffuser at first quick read!! lol

Reply ButtonReply

Tracy

Thanks for the review. I wish I’d waited to order a size smaller on the robe. Good news: it’s a robe! Unless it’s too small, you can always just tighten the belt! 😊

This seems like a good box and worth the extra money. I ordered the first box last fall and I will say that I think the Sunday Riley product included (Good Genes) was not the advertised amount in my bottle. I didn’t use it everyday and I ran out far sooner than I should have. It’s hard to tell the actual amount inside the bottle because the glass is opaque, so I didn’t notice anything until it was gone. This makes me a little nervous, but it will be much easier to see the product, at least with the oil; the CEO Rapid Flash seems to be a similar container-wise to Good Genes.

Reply ButtonReply

SKD

The Good Genes in the last box was not a full size. It was travel size at best. I’ve bought the full size at 1.0 oz and it does last a while.

Reply ButtonReply

Tracy

I know it wasn’t a full size, but the amount advertised should have lasted longer.

I will rip the sucker open and get the last bits out. It is difficult to open the bottle for sure.

Jenn

I no longer have the bottle as I just have the “bag” now so I can’t check the size but the good genes was not from the previous box. It was about the same size as my full size luna so I assumed it was full size? Is the full size good genes bigger than a full size luna? If that’s the case then I would try the bigger size for sure! I love good genes!

Jenn

I felt the same about my good genes full size. It ran out SO much faster than I expected. I ripped the top off (not easy) and there is some left inside after it stops pumping… the product is actually in a little bag attached to the dispenser so I cut it open and am using every last bit I can! In the future I think I’m going to try to stick the with sample sizes that are in tubes. I do love the results!

Reply ButtonReply

Charity

@Marne, how is this VV cream any different from the exfoliants we use on our faces? Is it harsher?

I don’t really need an exfoliant on my lady business (laser) but wondered if I could repurpose the product.

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

Hey Charity!

I’m wary of using something meant for that area for my face, but I agree with the others that using it anywhere else on your body would most likely be ok. I try to exfoliate my derriere a couple times a week to keep it super-soft so I think that’s a great repurpose!

Reply ButtonReply

Paula

Maybe use on legs or your bum. (LoL) I don’t think i would put on face.

Reply ButtonReply

Taren

Use it on your legs, elbows, bum, etc….

Reply ButtonReply

Ks

I loved their first box. This box looks great too but luckily I don’t need any of it.

Reply ButtonReply

Linda

I can’t wait to get mine!
Hope I get the pink lip. Love the length on the sleeves on the robe.

Nice review!

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Same on the pink lipstick and the robe sleeves. It’s very possible that I will keep and use every item in the box which is unusual.

Reply ButtonReply

Jessica

Thanks for modeling the robe, Marne! It was really helpful for determining size.

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

No sweat! Glad it helped!

Reply ButtonReply

Apricot

This box is/was tempting but I’m a little disappointed the robe doesnt have the cute hi-lo hem I was coveting so I may pass and put my money towards a robe I love. I know a hi-lo hem isn’t always preferred so happy for those who like the straight hem.

Reply ButtonReply

Jennifer

I can’t find where to add this to my cart?!

Reply ButtonReply

Beth

Such a great review! I wasn’t sure but now I’m sold. The only bummer is another polyester wonder the add to the sub box robe collection 🙄. Everything else looks great and I’m sure the robe will come in handy at some point.

Reply ButtonReply

Veronica E

Thanks so much for this awesome review! I actually bought this with the 10 percent off code a couple hours before reading your post, but you enforced all the things I thought I’d appreciate about this box! It seems very elegant and well curated, with lots of items I’ll actually use (I bought two Allure boxes this month because I love that oil.) I dropped about $50 worth of FFF add-ons (down to $24, woo!) to help me justify the purchase. I think it’s a great value. Thanks for your insight!

Reply ButtonReply

Victoria

I dropped my FFF add-ons for this, too! This box is very well curated, I completely agree.

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

Yay! Glad I could help (and that you got to use the coupon)!

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I know this is one of the “lesser” items in the box, but I would have loved that planner a couple months ago. I bought one last month, so this has no use for me. Like most of the items in this box, everything is okay, but nothing I really need or want that bad. That plus the price makes this a pass. I’m sad.

Reply ButtonReply

Tammy

Would it be a recurring charge for this sub box? Just wondering if I would need to call/email to cancel if I get it.

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

You can do either! One-time cost is $95.00 or you can subscribe to save 10%.

Reply ButtonReply

Carey

Great review as always Marne, you can take a “difficult to review” (vibe) item and do it wonderfully! Kudos!

I wanted to sub the last box and was hoping the next one would be a winner fo me BUT I already have both the actual SR products which kinda defeats the purpose of subbing to a Sunday Riley box!! LOL Also, I’ve read recently that you shouldn’t mix vitamin C products with retinol so I’m almost kinda hesitant to use the oil. 🙁 But nevertheless, this looks like a GREAT box if you don’t already own the SR items. Guess I will wait til the NEXT season and hopefully that one will be a winner for me.

Reply ButtonReply

Marne Orenich

Thanks, Carey! 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Taren

Paulas Choice recently posted some clinical studies that debunk that theory all together. So long as your skin strength is good you can mix them. The only reason not to would be if you had extremely sensitive skin. I’ve been mixing them for years.

Reply ButtonReply

Dorothy

The only reason not to use vitamin c with retinol is greater risk of irritation. It’s one of those things where you just see what your skin can handle. I have really sensitive skin so I do four drops of a vitamin C serum in the morning and at night a dollop of low-dose Retin-A, and i occasionally use an AHA too. Some can use stronger strengths at the same time in addition to AHA and BHA exfoliants, lucky ducks.

Anyway, I say try out your oil! Have fun!

Reply ButtonReply

Chris

You can use vitamin C in the am and retinol at night.
I use tretinoin in pm and Skinceutical CE Ferulic in the morning. My derm says it’s okay.

Reply ButtonReply

jennyjenny

I do the same!
