The packaging is a real showstopper. It's kind of like opening a suitcase in a Bond movie.

The box comes topped with a thorough booklet about the items inside. This little booklet is photographed and printed beautifully, and explains more details about all of the box contents. This sub s generally filled with a hedonist' dream mix of products but it looks like this month we are going to be experiencing a more demure selection, full of healthy and revitalizing items. Interesting!

TÖST, 750 ml - Estimated Value $7.00 (Buy 3 bottles here for $21.00)

I know a few people were really bummed that this month's box didn't have its customary bottle of booze, and I kind of agree. This sub is pretty much known for it! I get why they included this non-alcoholic option in terms of keeping on the theme, but I am looking forward to next month's libation. If they had to send a non-alcoholic option though, this was a great choice! I loved the dry and barely sweet flavor and the bubbles. The mix of white tea, cranberry, and ginger was super refreshing. Admittedly, I added gin to it. Delicious.

Cocoa Bliss, 8.34 oz - Retail Value $59.95

Firstly, the sticker price of this cocoa is a little insane. I get that it is no ordinary hot chocolate, but that is REALLY expensive. Because if this, I wish I could report that it isn't delicious, but it really is. In addition to being super chocolaty and rich, it is also full of beneficial things like turmeric and cinnamon. Interestingly enough, it also contains Anandamide, a molecule which triggers a dopamine release, and is likely where the Bliss part of this product's name stems from. It was really delicious in an almond milk and banana smoothie. Another random thought is that I could have done without the style of the website which basically makes you scroll down forever to find a price and floods you with so much information that its a little frustrating.

Turmeric Tea Drops, 1.6 oz - Retail Value $10.50

I have gotten so many turmeric products within the last few months that I am admittedly a little burnt out. The novelty of this one is the handy individual serving pucks that easily dissolve in water. I actually really loved them because they are less spicy than the others I have tried and just sweet enough to be tasty on their own. I also managed to dissolve these in cold water without much trouble! It was also very tasty with warm vanilla almond milk.

Robb Vices January 2019 hommage product trio

Now, this I can get excited about! We received a trio of skincare products from Hommage. Technically, this is a men's skincare line, but as a skincare junkie, I was more than a little excited to try it out. My husband also agreed to test these out, which I think is helpful since his skincare routine is non-existent and he will give a novice's opinion.

Hommage Purify Face Cleanser, 120 ml - Retail Value $50.00

The smell if this face wash is incredible. It smells like a man who could fight a bear and build a fire out of wet logs. It is truly delicious. The formula itself wasn't as great, though admittedly I have different needs than most men do when they wash their face. I need a wash that can easily remove my makeup, which this did not do. I am a big double cleansing advocate though, so I just started with one of my stronger cleansers and then followed up with this one. Along with the incredible scent, it did leave my skin incredibly soft. While I would not buy this for myself again, my husband really liked it and I have no problem enjoying the scent while my bottle lasts.

Hommage Awake Eye Serum, 28 ml- Retail Value $90.00

This eye serum had no scent and was a light, clear, gel formula. It burned just a little bit on the delicate skin under my eyes but I have to admit it did make me look mighty awake! I would guess this stems from the healthy dose of caffeine in this formula. It also has Sodium Hyaluronate, which is a difficult to pronouce molecule that holds up to 1000 times its weight in water, meaning this serum gives your eyes an immediate hydration boost which makes it look more firm and plump. The serum absorbs almost immediately and leaves no residue. Will thought the product was fine but did not understand why he would need to use it. Adorable.

Hommage Fortify Face Moisturizer, 28 ml - Retail Value $30.00

This also has that incredible masculine scent that I loved in the face wash. It seriously is so strong and wonderful. If you dislike a strongly scented facial moisturizer, this might not be for you, as the scent is bold and lasts for at least an hour. The moisturizer itself is not as heavy as I personally like, but my husband loved it. He doesn't wear a daily cream so the lighter feel is probably more in line with his preference. I did find this moisturizer to have a matte finish and reduce redness.

2GOBRAND Shoe Cleaning Kit - Retail Value $19.99

I feel like this sub always includes at least one item that makes me scratch my head and wonder how it fits the theme. This is that item this month. Though I have no idea why it was included, I actually really needed a shoe cleaning kit because my favorite boots are covered in mud from a recent forest photoshoot. They are a weatherproofed nubuk leather, so getting them wet will not stain or damage them. I brushed most of the dried mud off then applied some water and cleaning solution to the brush. I then scrubbed the remaining mud off the shoes with ease. Although this is an odd choice for this box, I have to admit I used it immediately and it worked well. This makes it a win for me personally.

Verdict: This Robb Vices box was kind of a departure from the normal gluttony I have come to associate with it. I have mixed feelings about this. Last month we got a $100 bottle of wine, chocolate, and cured meats, while this month we got an alcohol free option, tea drops, and healthy hot cocoa. Depending on your lifestyle, this might be an upgrade, but this box didn't really get exciting for me until the skincare. I did really enjoy each of the three Hommage products and love the idea of my husband getting more into skincare through this line. The shoe cleaning kit was super random, but I did find it useful immediately, so I can't complain. I am estimating the value of this box to be around $267.44, which is a good value for a $174.90 box IF you love the products inside. If you were super set on booze and other darker delights, this month might be a little health conscious for your liking.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Sign up by the 1st of the month to receive that month's box.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $174.90 ($159.95 + $14.95 shipping to PA). The average cost of each of the 7 items is $24.99.

Alternatively, here is what you are paying approximately per item:

  • TOST $4.58

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Megan, really enjoyed your review and writing style. Thanks!

In terms of the chocolate — how special are we talking? Because I have plenty of nice cocoa and hot chocolate that I don’t use enough of already. But if this is on another level…

I felt the same. This was my first box and after seeing the amazingness of past boxes, I was really underwhelmed. I was definitely expecting liquor. Feels like they phoned this one in, while charging more. I may not stick with it. Glad I’m not on the long term plan,

I came here to say the very same thing. Quality has gone down while price has gone up. When I signed up with Gilt, my first box was the carbon fiber sunglasses, which DH loves, and they look amazing on him! I wanted so badly to have a great boozy box, but that never happened. One good wine box, a cold brew tea box, followed by the infamous “fondue pot” disaster, and that was it for me! My last box contained a not-so-great turntable, which I swapped because we already had a nice one. RV is still sending me emails, begging me to resubscribe, not at my old rate, of course, and urging me to shop at their online store. No thanks!

I also added gin to my TOST!

YES! Great minds think alike.

I really enjoyed this box (again). While the RV boxes lately haven’t lived up to the INCREDIBLE Stelle speaker box, I have been really pleased with every month, and can easily justify the price.
I really appreciate the masculine scent of the facial products, but the scent doesn’t last for very long (that’s quite OK…it’s skin care).

That scent was SO GOOD.

Wow this box has gone downhill, yet their price has gone up!!! Used to be a good box, dont know what happened to it. While this is a good detailed review of the items, there’s way too many pictures of that booklet on here…

Why do you think they should agree to give you the old rate after you cancelled?

kim

Why would they offer you the old rate? They are very generous in grandfathering in existing customers when they have rate hikes. If you believe this box to be going downhill why would you care what rate they are offering you to resubscribe.

Vicki

Robb Vices is the only box I regret subscribing to. Definitely not worth the $ in my opinion. Seems to be losing the allure. Absurd when Godiva Cocoa seems reasonable in price…as I debate eating a Godiva truffle

I loved Your review. The description of the face wash made me laugh out loud. It smells like a man who could fight a bear then start a fire with wet logs is my new go to phrase. Thanks for an enjoyable review.

Let me start with $60 for hot coco?? I felt like wanting to point at the screen and in my best Nelson voice from the Simpsons go HA HA! And their website, oh my word….are they aware there are soooo many brands of chocolate now that don’t add sugar and add spices and herbs?
As for the men’s skin care, I don’t do fragrance stuff and encourage my fiance not to either as it just starts to irritate me after a while and tends to irritate my skin.
The shoe cleaning kit might be goo for my fiance, but he has a nice polish kit and does not wear casual shoes very often so not needed here. No forests unfortunately.
The drink and tea do look good and I can get them local or online for under $20.
So I guess I just saved $150 if I make a run to Cost Plus for the tea and drink and Trader Joe’s for chocolate!

my daughter used all my cacoa bliss. It is really tasty but expensive. Wish it was priced more reasonably. This was not my favorite box but hoping that the the next box will be more up my item. I always like the cooking oriented and tea and tea and coffee boxes more than anything else.

Megan K.

The Cocoa Bliss is so so pricy. Why does it have to be so delicious?

Melissa

While this box is way out of my price range & not totally my speed regardless, I really enjoy the reviews as there are often a few individual items that I’m interested in checking out on my own. I’ll definitely be looking to find the drink locally – it sounds right up my alley as a fun mixer – and might check out the tea drops & perhaps the shoe cleanser, or something else like it, as well. So thanks!

The Tost is really refreshing, especially ice cold with a lemon twist. And gin. 😉
