Here is the info sheet for the month.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Honey Trap PawPaw Polis Royal Honey Mask Front

Honey Trap PawPaw Polis Royal Honey Mask – Retail Value $3

This mask has both honey extract and propolis extract along with royal jelly extract and Centella asiatica. As you can imagine, it was incredibly soothing. I left this on a lot longer than the recommended 20 minutes because it was so comfortable to wear, and my skin was calm and happy after using.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Mediheal Platinum V-Life Essential Mask Front

Mediheal Platinum V-Life Essential Mask – Retail Value $4

Mediheal is a pretty popular K-Beauty skincare brand- the hit K-Pop band BTS even did a sheet mask collab with them! This has witch hazel, pomegranate extract, and hyaluronic acid in it, making it a nice pick-me-up for my skin. I don’t know about the claim that it can provide a “lifting effect on the V-Line” (where is my v-line?), but I still enjoyed it.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Peripera Smoothie Time Mask Front

Peripera Smoothie Time Mask in Lime – Retail Value $3

Peripera Smoothie Time Mask in Pomegranate – Retail Value $3

Peripera Smoothie Time Mask in Blueberry – Retail Value $3

These masks have fun and attractive packaging, but I thought the actual performance was a bit lackluster. While there was nothing particularly wrong about them, they didn’t really impress me. They added the standard boost of hydration all sheet masks provide, and that is about it.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Seantree Multi-Vita Ampoule Mask Front

Seantree Multi-Vita Ampoule Mask – Retail Value $3

This mask is made with fruit extract to brighten your skin and give it a boost. The concentration of fruit acids necessary to exfoliate and brighten your skin after 20 minutes of wear is far and above what sheet masks will actually have (when fruit extracts are used to effectively brighten, it’s usually in an overnight treatment like the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow Serum because the concentration is potent enough to actually give results). That being said, I would still throw this on before getting ready for a night out because the added hydration to my skin will always make me look better.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Innisfree Manuka Honey and Rose Mask Front

Innisfree Manuka Honey Mask – Retail Value $2

Innisfree Rose Mask – Retail Value $2

I genuinely don't think you can find better sheet masks for the price of these guys, assuming you're not ordering in bulk. While both masks do have alcohol near the top of the ingredients list, the rest of the ingredients are stellar. These masks fit my face well, the rose mask had a pleasant, natural rose scent, and my skin looked a lot happier after using.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Mizon Vital Up Calming Mask Front

Mizon Vital Up Calming Mask - Listed Value $3.50 (linked to the same mask in a different variation)

I use my Mizon snail sleeping mask I received in a previous Pink Seoul box at least three times a week, so I was excited to try more from the brand! This mask has good ingredients like hyaluronic acid, allantoin, and propolis, however, they were at the bottom which means they weren't in this mask in high concentrations. This mask is also fragranced, which can be a deterrent for those sensitive to scents though I did find it enjoyable. Overall, my skin felt hydrated after using, but nothing about this mask wowed me the way my snail sleeping mask did.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Freeset Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask Front

Freeset Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask – Retail Value $3

This sheet mask was an experience! It does, in fact, have donkey milk in the ingredients, along with niacinamide, mushroom and pear extract, and salmon roe extract. The texture wasn’t quite a typical sheet mask and not quite a hydrogel mask- it met somewhere in the middle. Once the mask was on, though, you’re not aware you’re wearing a supermarket’s amount of ingredients on your face. It was comfortable, though it did drip a tad which is one of my pet peeves. After I took this off, though, my skin was absolutely glowing.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Etude House Natural Konjac Cleansing Puff TopPinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Etude House Natural Konjac Cleansing Puff Open

Etude House Natural Konjac Cleansing Puff – Retail Value $4

I haven’t used a Konjac sponge in a while and I had forgotten how much I love them! They really help in making me feel like I have effectively cleansed my face, but when wet they are the most gentle sponge- this one, at least, is totally safe for sensitive skin. I also like using these when I am washing off clay face masks!

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Heimish Dailism Brow Pencil in Natural Brown Box TopPinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Heimish Dailism Brow Pencil in Natural Brown TopPinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Heimish Dailism Brow Pencil in Natural Brown Closer View 1PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Heimish Dailism Brow Pencil in Natural Brown Closer View 2

Heimish Dailism Brow Pencil in Natural Brown, Full-Size! Retail Value $10

Normally this mask only comes with one non-mask extra, but I think this brow pencil was included to bump up a low value this month. I like heimish, but this brow pencil wasn’t my favorite- I found the finish to be a bit waxy (which makes sense, considering I counted three different waxes in the ingredients list). In a pinch, though, this brow pencil would do fine.

PinkSeoul Mask Box January 2019 - Brow Pencil Swatched Closer View

Here is the brow pencil swatched.

The Verdict: I genuinely love my PinkSeoul subscriptions, but this month’s mask box felt a little off. The combination of the masks having a low value along with no non-traditional masks like eye patches, lip masks, or hand masks made this box fall a little flat for me. That being said, I did really enjoy my donkey milk mask, and I am happy to be stocked up on Konjac sponges!

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Hi Jessica! Your v-line is the contour of your jawline. 🙂 Typically masks that claim to help with the v-line go under the chin, and hook onto your ears to put added pressure on the underside of the jaw and lower cheek area in an attempt to push/lift them up. I guess I’ll never have a sharp v-line because I’m not a fan of sheet masks that hook around the ears. I think I’ll live though. 😀

I never got into the konjac sponge trend but I love sheet masks!
