Piper & Charlie's Pet Plate Review
The dog food arrives frozen and is shipped with insulation made from recycled denim! How cool is that? It has a nice bit of dry ice to keep the food super cold, even if you have to leave it on your porch for a little bit while at work.
My husband really enjoyed the dog pooping a heart illustration.
It includes a super cute calendar with STICKERS to record your pet's moods and cravings!
Included is a super important 'How To' card that explains how to store your pet's food. You can put a few containers in the fridge and keep the rest in the freezer. The containers stay fresh for about a week while in the fridge. The frozen food is good for up to one year. The back of this card explains how to transition your pup to his or her new food without upsetting their tummy.
We received 7, 32 oz containers. Each one is 4 full meals for Charlie, who is 35 lbs. That is a total of 28 meals or two weeks of food!

One of our containers did have a cracked lid, but the food itself was still frozen solid. The dogs didn't seem to care in the least!

Charlie
Charlie is our beloved rescue pug. While we do not know his age we have had him for almost 8 years! He came from a really abusive situation but now has basically the best life ever. You may notice his nails are rather long, and this is because no one used to cut them, ever! Can you believe that? Our vet does a good job at keeping them as short as we can without damaging his overgrown quick. He is approximately 35 lbs and a total glutton.
Piper
Piper has been my best girl since college. She is a feisty 12 years old and weighs around 12 lbs. She has only a few teeth left so soft foods are her jam! She hates squirrels and enjoys fresh hot laundry piles, growling at children, and guarding my purse. This subscription was originally for Charlie, but how could I leave my #1 girl out?
Charlie requires a special bowl because his head is huge and he has such a short nose. He literally can't get to the food if the bowl isn't sloped in just the right way. Piper likes vintage glass and being fancy. Tonight we sampled the Pet Plate Lickin' Lamb formula. It was filled with lamb, sweet potatoes, quinoa, apples, and so many more yummy ingredients! You could literally see each individual ingredient in each scoop.
As we are just a few days in, Piper's normal wet food is mixed half and half with our Pet Plate selection.
Likewise, Charlie also has a 50/50 blend between Pet Plate food and his normal dry food.
Feeding time is a BFD in our house. Piper and Charlie keep a tight schedule and have no problem letting us know if we are late with dinner.
Charlie, in particular, can get quite intense. Just look at that focus!
It's time.
It's a hit! My dogs are not picky eaters, but I can usually tell if they are especially thrilled with their food because they eat way too fast then clean their bowls more thoroughly than even a dishwasher could. We have been enjoying Pet Plate food for almost a week now and neither of them has had any issues with digestion or nasty potty breaks. I think this is certainly because of the super high ingredients and the food transition guide that we followed to the letter!

Verdict: My pups loved Pet Plate. I love that it is all natural, healthy, and can be frozen if needed. I also really like the different varieties because it gives them options when their normal food is just the same thing each and every day. Both of my dogs are older, and I found this food was super gentle on their stomachs and gums. Charlie still has great teeth and likes hard kibble, but I would absolutely consider going 50/50 full time for him. He just loves this stuff! Piper only has a couple of teeth left and has been eating soft canned food for almost 2 years now. She loved this food so much I would absolutely consider switching her to it full time, especially because of her age. This food is absolutely much more expensive than normal mid-grade dog food, but it is also much higher quality food. We all want our pets to live forever and top-notch nutrition certainly helps give them their best and longest lives. I also love the idea of never getting home after a long day and realizing I am out of dog food. With an automatic subscription that annoyance is history!
