Organic Bunny Box February 2019 Review

In addition to the already cute exterior box, you get a really nicely designed and sturdy reusable gift box each month that houses all of your organic goodies. It seems to change ever so often as well, so you can amass a collection of different designs. This one looks really cozy for the winter.

The lid stays put with magnets so you can use it again after you've raided it. It reads: "For the glamorous girl with a green heart"

The Organic Bunny Box doesn't include an info card but normally has all the items listed on their website by the time it arrives.

Lazuli Organics Kukido Marzipan Almond Body Scrub, 1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $3.25 (Buy 11.4 oz. for $37.00)

Almond is one of my all-time favorite scents flavors so seeing that this was marzipan almond was exciting. I enjoy using body scrubs in the shower, especially during the dry winter months to get rid of the dull dry skin that sits on top. This small trial sized packet came out in a little clump (they liken it to a cookie dough texture) but can be easily picked from and used a handful of times, depending on the area you're targeting. I always hit up my rump, the backs of my arms, and my legs below the knees as they tend to be the driest for me. It seemed really oily at first, but my skin ended up drinking it up pretty well, so my concern soon lessened. The smell was also a little strong at first but when using just a small amount, it isn't so bad once it's massaged onto the skin. Overall, this made my body feel really soft and well hydrated.

Nabila K Organic Jasmine Bath Salts, 3.5 oz. - Retail Value $15.00

Bath salts are something I haven't quite gotten into. Bath bombs, yes, but not the various salts and I've received them quite a few times in boxes. This one comes from Nabila K and I hate to say that I just don't get the same luxe vibe from this item that I do from the others I get in this box. I think it's just due to the packaging because we all know I'm a snob like that. I think I mainly wish the jar was glass instead of plastic. The product itself has a really strong Jasmine scent that I don't love, but that certainly dissipates in a tub full of water, so it's not as bad as if it were a lotion or something. The grains are akin to a chunky gourmet table salt with some flecks of dried jasmine throughout, as well as organic jasmine essential oil, jasmine sambac extract, jasmine grandiflorum extract, vegetable glycerin, jasmine hydrosol. That's a lot of jasmine! It comes with a cute little wooden spoon so you can scoop the right amount out of the jar easily.

True Moringa Mystery Burgundy Anise Lip Whip, 0.25 oz. - Retail Value $16.00

I'm familiar with the brand True Moringa and am a big fan of their lemongrass face oil I received long ago, so I was happy to see this one in the box. The color is a deep brownish red, has a nice pigment to it, and glides on really nicely. I can tell right away that it's super hydrating for my lips but I don't love a high shine. Unfortunately for me, it also has a pretty prominent anise scent to it which is one of my least favorite smells (and flavors). I'll be passing this on to a friend who will enjoy it.

Renew Wellness Face Cleanser in Balance, 1 oz. - Estimated Retail Value $18.00 (Buy a 2 oz. bottle for $36.00)

My love of all things rose is no secret. This powder turns into a really gentle facial cleanser once it's mixed with a small amount of water in the palm of your hand. The pretty light pink turns into a deeper almost fuchsia hue as you gently massage it into your face. The green tea powder is also immediately noticeable when opened which I love and joins a cast of licorice, rice powder, (gluten-free) oats, rose petals, red beets, hibiscus, cold pressed almond oil, jojoba oil, rose essential oil, lavender essential oil, and pink Himalayan sea salt. Seriously great ingredients that allow for a lovely cleansing experience, IMO.

They've included a coupon for 25% off in the online shop as well.

Innersense I Create Waves Salt Spray, 4 oz. - Retail Value $26.00

I love the idea of having some sort of beachy waves, but my hair is so thin and straight that it never turns out quite right. I just don't have the volume (or natural curls) that products like this seem to require to live up to their full potential. I sprayed some into my hair anyhow, and even though there were no waves, it did make my hair dryer which sort of gave it a little bit of something-something. My hair is typically oily, so it can handle a little bit of a dry-out.

Partake Foods Double Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies, 5.5 oz. - Buy 3 boxes for $14.99

I like that The Organic Bunny Box sometimes includes a snacky product. This time, I turned to our resident vegan, Emily, to weigh in on this cookie. Here's what she had to say: "It is a dry cookie. Lightly sweet, light chocolate flavor in the cookie with a little extra boost from the chocolate chips. The kind of cookie you could eat multiples of because it's not too rich". That sounds like a pretty good cookie to me, but since I can enjoy full buttery ones, I'll probably stick with them. 😉

VERT Beauty Organic Eyeliner Pencil in Cuivre - Retail Value $17.00

This eyeliner came in a great copper color and the pencil is incredibly soft which allows it to be applied really easily and smudge for a smoky look. The only issue I've noticed is that it means it can also be easily rubbed away. I seem to have the greasiest eyelids known to man, so I'd need to make sure to prime my eyes and use a setting spray to make sure this liner stays put. The color is lovely though, so it's a nice alternative to my usual black.

Dulce Earth Orange Vanilla Lip Scrub, 0.23 oz. - Retail Value $12.00

I can't get enough lip scrubs. They're easy to make at home, but I don't need to since they come often enough in the boxes I subscribe too. I don't use them daily as I should, so the ones I have last longer than usual. This one comes in a small frosted glass tub and has a pleasant orange vanilla scent which I get both of easily. The grit to this isn't too harsh and it has quite a bit of oil in it that keeps things really moisturized while you scrub. Lips are left feeling super kissable and even tastes really nice due to the honey, coconut oil, and sugar included. I'd suggest using this before applying facial oils or moisturizers so you don't end up rinsing any of those off while you rinse your lips.

One Over One Duotone Cream Color in Alizarin Rose - Retail Value $36.00

YES! I got one of these long ago in another box and still have it because I'm so obsessed with the packaging. I used it for a while as blush and contour bronzer but then was afraid of running out and ended up getting so many other products that it took a back seat. This little duotone compact is great for travel since there are two colors and it can be used for cheeks, eyes, or lips. The brownish/bronze color is really quite sparkly while the rose is also, but a little less noticeable. Both go on sheer and can be built upon which is ideal for me. I just love this product!

Here are swatches for the (top to bottom) duotone compact, eyeliner, and lip whip.

Verdict: This month's Organic Bunny Box wasn't a complete hit with me this time but there were some items I loved. It seemed to lean more to the makeup side of things which is nice, but some of them just weren't products I'd use every day. My favorites were probably the duotone cream color, lip scrub, and face cleanser. The total value for this $59.00 box amounts to over $143.25 (not including the cookies).

I’ve ordered a few items from Amanda’s Organic Bunny store, and have been eying this box. However, I’m concerned about the low user rating for ease of canceling. She lists that you can cancel anytime, so it seems pretty easy. For anyone who has had an experience with cancellation, can you provide any details around the lower rating in this category?

I use lip scrub every evening. I never realized how much it helps until I started using it. My lips are no longer chapped and dry. I follow up the scrub with a thick layer of lip balm before bed.

I use a lip scrub usually once per day or once every other day. I have noticed that I have much softer lips and the more of routine I am doing this that if I forget a day or two to do it, I’m OK. It has noticeably improved my lips over time.

I recently re-subscribed after having taken about a 9 month break, and this was my first box. I thought it was a great box, and I actually didn’t even notice the cookies & hair mist at first since they were buried in the sizzle at the bottom of the box. I was perfectly happy with the other items, so when I discovered the other two, they almost felt like a bonus! Lol I re-subscribed with a 6-month subscription again, so I can’t wait to see what’s in next month’s box!

Also Marne, I don’t think lip scrubs are intended to be used daily (just like how face scrubs aren’t), so you’re probably using them correctly. 🙂
