My Fashion Crate January 2019 - New Year New You Live Your Dream Top Front View

New Year New You “Live Your Dream” Top – Listed Value $35

(Please note there is another picture of me wearing this tee below).

Who doesn’t love a good tee? I don’t usually wear tees with slogans on them, but this is a nice one for “resolution-ing”, and it’s a soft 100% cotton. It’s a little snug, as are most items from My Fashion Crate, but the good thing about 100% cotton tees is that they usually take on your shape perfectly after a trip or two through the wash. If you are old enough to remember all the “shrink to fit” marketing of jeans in the ’80s and ’90s, it’s worth mentioning that cotton goes the other direction, too. I feel like $35 is more than I would pay for a tee, but it’s a great inclusion in a subscription box.

Cute Favorite Socks – Listed Value $15

Kitties! These socks are a super soft acrylic knit, and they are so cozy for all this cold weather we are having! I love them! I can never have too many warm socks in the winter. They might indeed become my favorite socks!

Skone Cosmetics Brow Wand in Chocolate – Retail Value $18.50

Sorry about the extreme close-up on the swatch!  Haha. Well, at least now you know exactly what it looks like on. My Mom is one of those women from the ’60s who tweezed her brows into non-existence, so I have always had thick brows, and I like them that way. If it’s a really, really special occasion I will get them professionally done, but otherwise, I just leave them natural. The point of all this is that I don’t use brow pencils, so I don’t have a lot of input on this particular item. Maybe I should pass this along to my Mom…

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Polish in Vintage on Vine – Retail Value $18

What a nice color for winter! I love all things purple, and this shade is a nice muted lilac. It also has great coverage with just one coat, and it’s chipping resistance is pretty good. It’s also 7-free, vegan, and cruelty-free, so I can feel good about wearing it, too.

My Fashion Crate January 2019 - Busy Beauty Showerless Shampoo Front View

Busy Beauty Showerless Shampoo – Retail Value $10

Cute bottle! For a dry shampoo at this price point, this stuff works pretty well. It has a nice scent and doesn’t turn my hair (more) gray. It also leaves my scalp feeling refreshed, so it’s a win all the way around.

The following items are in the Plus Size Premium Box only:

My Fashion Crate January 2019 - Soft Open Knit Cardigan With Women Front View

Soft Open Knit Cardigan – Listed Value $50

This cardigan is awesome! It’s lightweight, which makes it perfect for layering, and it’s a cotton blend knit. But without a doubt, the best thing about it is that it fits! I hate to say it, but almost everything from My Fashion Crate Plus runs small, unfortunately. So if you are subscribing, I would recommend sizing up right off the bat. You might even need to size up… yikes… twice. Just remember, it’s only a number. In any case, I also love the color of this cardigan, and the draping is very flattering. I feel like I will get loads of use out of this!

Mauve Maria Crossbody Purse – Retail Value $48

I have to admit that I do a little dance every time I get a purse in a subscription box, and this one is so cute! I love the color! It’s about 8″ x 5″ with two zipper pockets and an interior slit pocket. The wrist strap is 6″ (12″ around) and the crossbody strap is 26″. It is the perfect size for the phone-keys-wallet triad, with a little extra room for sunglasses and lipstick. This is a great purse for running around town doing errands. I love it!

Verdict: I loved my package from My Fashion Crate this month! The sizing issues were minimal this month, and I love the cardigan and purse! I also really liked the nail polish and socks. I feel like you get a lot with this subscription! The total value of the items is $194.50 this month, so the value is incredible!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. If you order before the 15th you will receive the March box. From My Fashion Crate:

  1. Solid box!

  2. Great items that seem practical and useful. Thanks for the review, this one is on my radar.

  3. Love your reviews! That tshirt looks adorable on you. 100% tshirts are hard to find!

  4. Looks like a great value for $50! Thank you for the great review! Your detailed observations are really helpful.

I may try it out for a while to replenish some basics 😊😊

  5. Just curious but why do you say size up 2 sizes and that it’s just a number but yet you don’t share what sizes you are wearing and you add “yikes” about having to size up? Kinda sad.

    • Ummm…no one likes to size up; it is just a number but we all know that when we do have to size up, it can sting a little, even knowing it’s because the garment/designer runs small. Besides, the reviewer doesn’t need to tell us what size she is getting; it’s clear in the review that it’s a plus size sub; what business is it of ours to need to know the exact size? What I think is “kinda sad” is that you felt it necessary to try to shame her in some way…kinda sad.

      • It’s helpful for people who have the same body type to know sizes and yes it’s sad to tell people that it’s just a number while framing size as a negative. I have no problem sizing up so please don’t speak for everyone.

        • Umm you don’t know your own size? You need other people to tell you THEIR size to determine your own? That’s absolutely ridiculous.. take your own size then size up like the reviewer suggested.. Seems you were just trying to throw shade. And throwing shade on someone kind enough to give is such a thorough review is “kinda sad”

      • Amen JennyB! You took the words right out of my mouth! This little lady has deep rooted issues obviously…. she’s “kinda sad”

      • Amen…we really do not need to know what size anyone is and she was being nice by saying you may want to size up because things run on the smaller size. Some peeps are just rude!

    • Are you serious dude??? YOU are what’s “kinda sad” Anna is my absolute favorite reviewer! ( Nicole coming in a very close second 💗) she is incredibly kind, has a beautiful positive outlook and reading her reviews always put me in the best mood. This comment you left is just a catty, meaningless comment…. I mean what is your problem? Just because you have a lot going on in your life right now and you obviously are not a happy person does not mean you can take it out on whoever you want! Especially if it’s someone as sweet as Anna….

      • I have seen “Jane” post in other subscription reviews, and they are always snarky little remarks. Maybe she needs a hobby.
I love her reviews too, they always bring a little joy to my day!

    • She’s under no obligation to state what size the items are—the information that their clothing runs 1-2 sizes small is good enough info. There’s nothing “sad” about what she wrote.

      • Agree. Why would you ever need to know what size she is. You can not tell what size “you” would take by reading someone else’s review and looking at their photos. Size up 2 times is extremely self explanatory. If you have no idea what size you are well then thats” kinda sad”.

    • Oh my lawd, really?!
I think the point of her stating “yikes, two sizes up” is to inform us that this sub runs on the very small size. Which is extremely good information! It would help anyone realize that the size issue is not them personally, which can also cause a plus size girl serious anxiety.
This also goes to say that for a plus size girl sizing up can be flat out impossible – I’m up to 3X. There are no higher sizes with a lot of things.
Putting “Kinda sad” at the end of your comment?! I’m appalled. I have thick skin, and if this was aimed at me, I think this would have stung. I find it disrespectful, completely lacking that Anna is a person with feelings just like me and possibly you, and worthy of needing an apology to Anna.
And just out of curiosity, would you have had the same question with “kinda sad” at the end if the reviewer had been in straight sizes, omits their size, but makes the same comments as Anna? I highly doubt it. That is body shaming. There is no place for that here. Bye Felicia.

      • She didn’t body shame anyone, you people are way too sensitive, “I’m appalled, but I have thick skin”?? I personally agree that it would be helpful to know her size, and I’m pretty sure Jane was just pointing out that it actually sounded like she was shaming herself. I think that is what she was referring to as “kinda sad”.

    • Some of the reviewers on here do list their sizes. This one doesn’t…she never does. I get that you want to know what sizes the models are wearing because despite what these other commenters say, it CAN be helpful, BUT…you should just respect the fact that Anna isn’t comfortable sharing her sizes. Nicole, the other regular plus-size fashion reviewer, does share them. I mean, you can get the jist of it if she tells you it runs small and you need to order 2 sizes up. (btw, that’s pretty normal in cheaper fashion subs. The clothing is often made in China and skews VERY small, just like flea market clothes).

  6. I love that nail polish! I had actually received it in another box and it’s one of my favorite colors. It’s a lovely neutral and stays on without chipping really well. (I’m rough on nail polish).

I decided to give this sub a try with the coupon code and I’m waiting for my first delivery. I decided to try the essentials first, but your reviews make me think I will need to upgrade if I’m going to get the better stuff. Thanks for the reviews!
