This bag is so weird and cute! When you unzip, it looks like the lips open.
This bag also hints at the full-size product included in this month's box.
Now, on to the items!
Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay, 1 fl oz - Estimated Value $10.40 (Buy a full size 2.5 oz here for $26.00)
Big rose fan here! I also love most anything this brand sells. I will admit that this mask was super drying for my skin, though to be fair, I find literally every clay-based mask drying. Your girl has some seriously dry skin to begin with! Though this may not be my type of product overall, the scent was beautiful and the mask itself is such a pretty pale pink color. It turns even lighter when it dries, so you know when it is time to wash it off and it has a texture that gently exfoliates when you scrub. If you have oily skin, you will likely enjoy this more than I did.
BeautyBlender Micro Mini - Estimated Value $9.00 (Buy a two pack here for $18.00)
I have gotten a few of these before and if you like this sort of tool it will be a welcome addition to your bag for sure. I have tried using them wet with my foundation, and I don't find that it really adds to my routine. Where these little babies really shine for me is in highlighter application. I like to wet them and then dab them into my favorite highlighter and then lightly pat it on my face. It gives my face an extra dewy look that I just love!
Clinique High Impact Mascara, 0.14 oz - Estimated Value $9.50 (Buy a full size 0.28 oz here for $19.00)
This is actually one of my favorite mascaras so I am thrilled to get this little travel size. I tend to swap between this mascara and my other favorite Clinique Lash Power. I find that sometimes my lashes just need to swap between formulas, and I have been using Clinique mascaras for years. I never really use a lash curler because these formulas give me about lift and shape without that extra step. They also both stay on all day and neither is a chore to remove with a makeup wipe.
Dermablend Loose Setting Powder, 3 g - Estimated Value $3.11 (Buy full size 28 g here for $29.00)
This is a very fine translucent setting powder that applied easily with my favorite powder brush. Ideally, you apply quite a lot then let it set for two minutes, then buff it off. I don't really see myself making that a habit, but I did find that this mini size was the perfect amount to keep in my purse for a quick fix to any shininess I might experience as my day goes on. It has a really great matte finish and is easy to dab on with my fingertips.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in American Doll, 3.2 g - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $20.00
This is likely the item most people are super excited about! The color is a divine true red, a shade that suits itself to almost every skin tone in everything from vintage to modern makeup looks. If I could change one thing about it, it would be a different finish. I can't stand matte finish lipsticks. I know I am likely the minority in this, but I find them so drying. I will give this one props though because when I added in a clear gloss, it transformed into a heavenly and long lasting cream finish. That, I can work with!
Here you can see this is a true crisp red.
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Eau de Parfum Spray, 0.04 oz - Estimated Value $1.65 (Buy a full size 3 oz here for $124.00)
This is a darker and moody scent, meaning it is right up my alley. It had notes of coffee, Jasime, pear, and patchouli. I find it just a little too sweet for my liking (probably the pear), but this is a scent I have wanted to try, so I am pleased it was included in this box.
Fashion Forms Breast Petals - Estimated Value $2.33 (Buy 3 pairs here for $7.00)
Finally, we received a pair of pasties. I have never in my life used these because I am not self-conscious about what they are designed to hide. I could see these being a nice addition to a formal look for someone more discreet than myself though, and the flower shape is super cute!
Verdict: This was my first Macy’s Beauty Box and I really liked it! While the hero item lipstick wasn't my favorite finish, I found a way to make it work well for my routine. I was super happy to get a travel size of my favorite mascara, and I really liked the setting powder. The mask will go to a friend, and the BeautyBlender I will reserve for when my current ones gets tossed. The pasties might be another gift, and the perfume was fun to try! This box has an estimated value of about $55.99 (not counting the makeup bag.) That is a great value for a $15 sub.
