Kloverbox February 2019 info card

Here’s the info card for this month’s box.

Kloverbox February 2019 spray Kloverbox February 2019 spray box Kloverbox February 2019 spray info

Balipura Pure Love Spray, 3.4 fl oz - Retail Value $25.00

This spray smells like jasmine mostly, with some other flowers like rose and maybe geranium mixed in. It has essences from rose quartz, chrysoprase, jade, aventurine, and amazonite and according to the back label was blessed by a priest under a full moon. That is a lot happening inside one little bottle! It smells lovely if you enjoy florals. Use it to invite love to your life or just to smell like a beautiful bouquet.

Dark Heart Tea - Estimated Value $3.75 (Buy 20 hearts here for $14.99 when they come back in stock!)

These teas are so cute! This blend is fermented, then pressed into little hearts. They take a little longer to steep since they are hard, but the tea is worth the wait. It has a smoky taste that is cut with rose petals. I added raw sugar and almond milk which really enhanced the flavor.

Kanio Love Necklace - Retail Value $34.00

I am sadly really unimpressed with this necklace. For a retail value of $34.00, I would at the very least expect a silver plated chain, if not a sterling one. The generic "Fashion Jewelry" card really didn't give me good vibes either, especially for a necklace that is not inexpensive. The design is pretty enough, a trio of rose quartz beads dangle down on a pendant with more metal beads between them. I sadly won't be wearing it often, as I have metal allergies, but if you like simple and clean designs, this might be a winner for you.

Here it is on my neck.

Verdict: Kloverbox was just meh for me this month. I totally don't buy into the retail price of that necklace, but it might really resonate with someone else. The spray smells really nice and I love all the thoughtful elements that went into creating it. The tea was delicious and utterly cute. This box has a retail value of $62.75 which sounds good for a $25.00 box, though I can't help but feel a little let down by the curation this month.

Value Breakdown: I estimate that I received $56.99 worth of product inside this $25.00 box, including free shipping. Proportionally, this is what you’re paying for each item via the box:

  • Spray $9.96
  • Tea $1.49
  • Necklace $13.55

Alternatively, each of these 4 products has an average cost of $8.33.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Megan you might have made a typo, you mention in the value breakdown that there are 4 items…..
I agree with your review, the necklace seems cheap and the tea should definitely have been full sized. The spray seems interesting. Great review!

Anything with that “Fashion Jewelry” chain reminds me of $1 jewelry at a store like Jewelry Galore…I would never buy a box with cheap stuff like that!

Megan K.

it would have honestly seemed more expensive if they had just left that out.

Sorry but as a gemologist I respectfully disagree. That is not an accurate retail price, more like something you would sell at Claire’s. Iron is not a quality metal in the jewelry industry.

Oops this was supposed to be a response to Nancy and the natural gemstones are rose quartz which generally is not expensive at all, especially that quality. With all due respect, most jewelry in subscription boxes frustrate me as the retail values are overinflated and the quality of the metals and gemstones are so so, being very common and abundant low-quality gemstones that you can buy at quite a few places. Or they don’t even list what the gem is, just saying semi-precious. Ugh, so frustrating to someone in the jewelry industry. Transparency and honesty is so important.

I don’t know about the value of the metal or the beads, but I have the necklace, and I don’t think it’s cheap looking at all. It’s much nicer than something you would get at Claire’s.
They are selling for the same price on the website.
I totally agree about the overstated retail prices on most of the jewelry.

Snowhitetwin

I don’t like it when they start including cheap jewelry. Hate it!!!

They do better with skincare for sure

The website says the chain is made from iron – “All Kanio necklaces are made of an iron chain, with our signature zinc icon, plus our beautiful natural gemstone beads.”

I think it’s very well made.

I would have thought more of it without the $34 listed value. I make and collect jewelry and that is rather steep for what it is.

I appreciate your thoughtful review. I agree that a full pack of tea would have made a difference in not feeling let down. I probably would not have chosen that necklace at that retail value.

SquirrelyGirl

I can see why you feel let down. If they had included a full pack of the heart tea it might have been more worth it, because…super cute! I have metal allergies as well, so this box would have been a flop for me too.

Megan K.

yeah, the metals used were a nonstarter for me. The tea was great though!
