Delia Organics Skin Detox Rehab Mask, 2oz – Listed Value $22, Retail Value - $16.99

For only having four naturally derived ingredients, this mask was impressive! As with most dry masks, there is a learning curve to get the perfect consistency, but when you find that pasty sweet spot, everything is gravy, baby. My pores appeared smaller, and my skin looked calmer and more radiant after rinsing. It was also very flakey (as you can see above) after it dried, so I would definitely recommend applying this one before a relaxing bath. I also didn’t put this on my forehead because I was a little worried about getting flakes in my eyes.

Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in Trooper Black – Retail Value $20

Kat Von D makes the very best liquid eyeliner! I love when this easy-to-use product is sampled in boxes, especially when it is full sized! The key to getting the perfect matte black line is to prime! Always shake this up a bit before opening, especially for the first time; this helps to coat the bristles on the brush for the perfect line, thick or thin, every time!

Ambreesh Cosmetics 24 Karat Liquid Lipstick in Hey Doll!  – Retail Value $28

Ambreesh is a luxury vegan and cruelty-free brand. I was a little disappointed when I saw that this “24 Karat” lippie didn’t have any shimmer or glitter; I am just over the matte liquid lip craze. I always use a lip mask while I am getting ready, then I wipe the excess off and apply my lip product. Unfortunately, that did not stop this lipstick from getting that cracked, puckered look within 10 minutes of wear (see second pic), and it was especially gloopy for a liquid lipstick, too. I liked the nude pink color, but I just don’t think this product is for me.

Here I am with the Ambreesh liquid lip, which looks fine when I am smiling, but when my lips are relaxed.. not so much. I am also wearing the Kat Von D liner in this photo. (Don’t mind my very pale neck, ahh!)

Derma E Nourishing Rose Cleansing Oil, .25fl oz – Estimated Value $2.25, Buy 2oz here for $17.99

I am having a little bit of a hard time understanding the “no rinse” factor of a cleaning oil that is supposed to be used to cleanse and remove makeup.. Other than that, this did an alright job of removing mascara and other face makeup. I am so pleased with the results of micellar water, though, that anything else is a tough sell for me. I used two pumps for my whole face, and my skin felt soft after rinsing, but I ended up going back in with my regular cleanser to remove the leftover makeup.

Eldora H171 False Lashes – Listed Value $9, Retail Value $7.91 (converted from £7.00)

These lashes look so beautiful; I am so disappointed that I can’t wear them due to an adhesive allergy. They seem very light and fluffy, and I think they could look great as a pretty boost for a natural look or glammed up with a smokey eye. These handmade lashes are actually made out of human hair and come with a small tube of vegan adhesive

Verdict: I liked the array of makeup and skincare items Kinder Beauty Box sampled this month and enjoyed trying the new-to-me brands. The price discrepancies between listed and retail prices are always concerning, but this box has enough bang for your buck that it didn’t make that much of a difference to me. A few items didn’t work out for me, but the Kat Von D eyeliner and the face mask made this box so worth it for me!

Great review Abby! Can I ask what eyeshadow you are wearing in your post?

Abby

Thanks! I have a warm brown as a base, and I patted Urban Decay’s Moondust shadow in Solstice over it 🙂

This doesn’t look as good as the first month (which I was unable to get), but the mask and eyeliner will be used, as will the cleansing oil. I have never liked the matte lip look, but hopefully I can use this with a balm to get a creamy look.

I won’t even mention the lashes, it gives me BC nightmares LOL

Crossing my fingers for a great March box!

Abby

Haha, I would love to know what BC stands for, but I don’t want to open up any repressed memories 😂😂 my guess is Benefit Counter/Cosmetics, but I could be way off!

LOL Everyone had it right… BoxyCharm uses lashes as filler a lot. (Okay, I know some people love them, to me, they are just filler) Maybe I show my age, but I can picture Phyllis Diller when I think of myself in false lashes. My daughters will wear them though, so at least they won’t go to waste. 🙂 Since they know how to put they on, they won’t look foolish as I would if I were to try.

I got my box yesterday, I was surprised to find a bonus item in it. 🙂 There was a bottle of Vitamin B-12 drops included, really looking forward to trying those out!

DawnS

My guess is Boxy Charm as I seem to recall they send a lot of lashes.

Anna

Boxycharm has had a lot of lashes so
I assume that’s it.

Definitely not as good as the first box. Counting $2 dollar lashes as full size item is not great either. I will try out one more month to see if I like it enough to stay subbed.

Yeahhhhhhh I definitely don’t think of Kat Von D when I think of “kinder” beauty products. The brand may be vegan/cruelty free, but her eponymous brand is inseparable from her as a person, and her documented anti-semitism & anti-vax stances are not aligned with this box’s message of healthier beauty choices.

This is aside from criticism that the brand itself has received, for the provocative names that promote the sexualization of teenage girls, most notably when it marketed a “fetish” lip collection that included shades “Lolita” and “Underage Red.”

Lee Ann

Underage red is when she was a teenager and would sneak into places underage wearing red lipstick is why she chose the name. She already addressed that question in interviews when she was asked why that name was chosen. The fetish lipsticks were part of a fetish line she later released.

Nina

Oh wow…Didnt know they had a lip collection featuring those names….Thats deplorable! Its really sad how this has become a trend…Just look at the titles of the Too Faced brand.(Pat the Pu$$ body shimmer)…. its actually pretty cringey that they are using this as a tactic to draw in young girls…

Hi Abby! Cleansing oil is a first-step in a double cleanse routine. It is mean to pick up and remove oils from your skin (like removes like) and then to be followed by a cream cleanser. I have only tried one oil cleanser that was so awesome that I didn’t need a 2nd cleanse (DHC). I’ve found oil cleansers to be pretty effective at breaking down mascara that gets rinsed away by the second wash.

Julia

I am definitely with Abby in cheering micellar water as the most effective makeup remover, and it contains the suspended oil droplets. My face needs LESS oil, not more, so the recent craze for face oil products in sub boxes is just as useless to me as the umpteenth (drying and puckering) matte lipstick. I will keep watching this sub, though. The value is there if the products are a good fit. And who doesn’t love Luna Lovegood!!!

Reply ButtonReply

Abby

Ahhh! I see what you are saying. Maybe by “rinse free” they just meant to go in immediately with the second cleanse? That definitely makes more sense to me! You are actually supposed to wipe away the product with a damp towel, but even doing so I still had remaining product on my face.

Luna

Hi Abby, like the Derma E oil, there are certain cleansing oils that are meant to be wiped off instead of rinsed off, primarily those that don’t emulsify. I personally prefer to always rinse off an oil cleanser (even when the instructions say to wipe it off) because I hate getting makeup all over my washcloths. There typically is some residue after rinsing (usually just oil, but sometimes a little makeup.. I don’t wear a lot of it, so that’s probably why), but that doesn’t bother me since I apply a 2nd cleanser to my wet face right away.
