Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Holding Co Co Cream

Our first product is from Sol De Janeiro and it is their CoCo Cabana Cream. We have received a cream from them in the past with Boxycharm so I'm super excited to try another product from this line. This oil in water cream is made to hold up to 72 hours of moisture and is made to transform dehydrated skin. As soon as I opened the sealed wrapper I could smell this amazing aroma. This sweet smell comes from coconut, warm vanilla, and toasted praline. It literally smells good enough to eat, and some people are saying it smells just like buttered popcorn jelly beans! However, what I love the most about this product is how it made my skin feel. I added this to my legs and thighs and wow did my skin drink this stuff up! It left me feeling very moisturized and had a nice shine to it. I also love how its the perfect size to fit into my purse, another great pick Boxycharm.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Holding The Primer

Our next product is from Touch In Sol and it's a primer. We usually get eyeshadow palettes but I like how Boxycharm switched it up and gave us a face primer this month. I never wear makeup without first adding a primer so I'm thankful we get one in this months box. A good face primer not only helps your makeup apply better and last longer, but it also acts as a barrier between your skin and your makeup. Not too long ago I received a sample of this very primer from a visit to Sephora. I must admit it was the pink color that drew me in, but when I started using it I grew to love it! I love how well my makeup applied after priming my face with it, so I'm thrilled to have the full-size product. The Touch In Sol  No Poreblem face primer is a light and silky primer that helps to blur your pores. It's made for all skin types and while enhancing the wear of your makeup, it also helps with uneven skin tones. Since this makes your face feel so smooth after, I'm sure you could just wear the primer alone if you wanted to.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Bare Face Wearing Primer

You cant tell in the picture but my face feels really soft and smooth after adding the primer. I applied this all over my face and allowed at least ten minutes for it to settle into my skin before I added my foundation.

Here is how it looks after adding my foundation.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Holding The Closed Nudestix

Our next product comes from Nudestix Cosmetics, it is their Magnetic Luminous Eye Color. I received the shade Copper Foil and it is a gorgeous gold metallic shade that is sure to stand out on any skin tone. It's an easy to use pencil that has a long-wearing, waterproof, and budge-proof formula. It's also great for quick on the go makeup looks when you don't have time to complete a full-on eye look. Since I'm creating a very simple eye look using only a black eyeliner and the nudestix, I'm hoping this look would be great for our makeup beginners. It's two easy steps for an easy to do eye look.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Applying The God Nudestix

To begin, I took the Nudestix Magnetic Luminous Eye Color and applied it to my lid using a very light hand. I notice that the product is super soft and glides on very easily.

Here is how it looks before blending.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Using Finger To Blend Out Eyeshadow

Next, I took my finger and blended the color by slowly patting it into the direction I wanted, which was slightly above my crease and then towards the outer corners of my eye. You can blend it out by using a brush as well, but I found it much easier to use the warmth of my fingertips. I love how the formula was so smooth and very easy to work with.

Here is how it looks after blending it out

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Holding Black Eyeliner

To complete this simple eye look, I took a black eyeliner and added it directly across my lid. To do this, I started in the middle and used very short strokes until my entire lid is covered with the black liner. I also added a very tiny wing towards the outer part of my eyes and finally to finish up I added the liner to my lower lash line to build a bit more intensity.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Holding Up The Mascara

I have heard so much about our next product so I can't wait to finally try it out for myself. The Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara is a smudge proof mascara that has all day wear and unique peptides for an intense eye look. The more coats you add the deeper the intensity will be. It has an hourglass brush shape that helps to separate and coats your lashes. Its collagen-fueled formula is supposed to add volume and make your lashes look full and well defined.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Eyelook With Mascara Added

I used three coats to see for myself just how intense my lashes could look. Since my lashes are not very long, I love how it thickened and added length. I did experience a little clumping after my third coat but I think if I took my time and waited for each coat to dry, I would've had a better outcome. However,  I think it's great for those who want a more intense look without the use of false lashes. I have tried many mascaras and nothing has given me the volume, length, and overall fullness that this product provides.

Boxycharm makeup tutorial February 2019 - Holding Up Pretty Vulgar Product

After filling in my brows and adding a nude lip color, I reached for our final product in this months box. We received another item from Pretty Vulgar. This time we received the Pretty Vulgar Shimmering Swan Highlighter. I received the color Shimmering Sass which is a golden highlight with a pearl sheen. This color should go perfect with my gold and black eye look. I grabbed a medium brush and highlighted my cheekbones and the tip of my nose. I like how its a more natural and subtle highlight, which gives off a light glow to my skin.

Here is my completed look.

Verdict: I really enjoyed all the products in this months box, but my absolute favorite is the face primer and the mascara. I would love to know what product stood out for you guys this month.

I am addicted to subscription boxes for so many reasons. For one I simply love the element of surprise that each month brings, whether its beauty, skin care or anything else. I love the opportunity of trying out new products every month without having to commit to the full purchase. My favorite boxes are Boxycharm, Popsugar, and any Mommy and baby boxes. I am a brand new mother and I love trying out new things for my baby and I love how they always have something special for mommy!

Loved reading this. You look amazing as always! I will say I too loved the primer. I have seen it before but never tried until I received from boxy and now it’s a staple in my daily makeup rountine. The mascara is great too, one of my favorites.

There really is a difference in the primer. This month’s Boxy was made for you!

Apricot

This is the same variation I received. The only thing I would have wanted to try more is the Trestique lip over the Nudestix mostly because most of the highlighter or bronzers I receive that don’t conventionally suit me I use on my eyes, but that’s ok, I feel very fortunate to have received this variation.

I had really wanted to try the SDJ CoCo Cabana cream and while the scent is overwhelming at first, used sparingly, it fades down to a delectable, long-lasting scent. I also really like the Touch In Sol primer, it made my skin look virtually flawless even around the eyes (my trouble area) where I gently pressed it in, so that was a great discovery for me.

And Desiree, thank you for the tutorial, I’m totally going to try that eye look, thanks!

I got the same box except I got the pretty Vulgar Bronzed B in Bronze Mannikin, which honestly is far too dark for my fair/light skin. Great review though. Really great.

I like the primer the best. I too got a tiny sample at one point and liked it. Glad to be getting a full-size one.

Yeah I’m the queen of getting samples, i never buy anything from sephora without getting a sample, call me cheap cause it fits me well LOL

I love samples too. I will go into Sephora with a bare face, try the products I’m interested in, and wear them around for the day to see how the last/perform throughout the day. Sephora sells my foundation and powder, so I have the basics available to put everything together with what I normally use. I truly appreciate that they allow customers to try things on in the store as well as sending us home with samples!

As for you: That mascara looks really good on you! You have mentioned your eyelashes before. I can see a difference with this mascara. As always, I love that you try the products on for us. I would not have given the Nudestix a second glance. But, wow! I can scarcely believe how much color it lays down. From that little swipe you were able to blend out your whole eye, and it didn’t fade out as though the pigment was spreading too thin. Instead, the effect is still there. It says it is long-lasting and smudge proof… did you find that to be true?

Erika

I love this look!! I can’t decide which part I like the most. I’m so excited to get my box too!

I hope you love it!

You look gorgeous!! I really loved receiving a PV highlighter (mine is in Glow up) . My next favorite is the primer. My other products were the mascara, the Tula sheet masks, and a smashbox liquid lipstick. I was disappointed to receive the liquid lip because I already received this product back in September. Smashbox is good, but didn’t appreciate the repeat. Overall, I enjoy my box.

Aww. I love your tutorials. You’re attitude is fantastic when it comes to products that I think are “blah;” it’s like…I’m gonna get this to work for me. Once again, I loved the overall look that you were able to create, considering this box was just meant for people to shimmer.

Long live the Queen! (That is what me fellow classmates, we are about to celebrate 30 years reunion call eachother!) I received this box with the other variation but I thoroughly soaked up your tutorial. I loved how you took the time to not just put the item on, but what it is used for etc. Hey up until now I never knew foundation primers existed. Thanks for a great tutorial and walking us step by step.
