The Monthly Momma Box "Feel Better Momma" Review February 2019

We received several inserts in our box this month including a special note about our theme. This month's theme is Feel Better Momma and couldn't have come at a more perfect time since my family is definitely feeling under the weather at the moment.

One of the inserts included some helpful information on alternative treatments for the cold and flu, which I thought was a great idea! While I was pregnant I was always looking for alternative methods since I couldn't use traditional medicine for all my aches and pains and now that I have kiddos, it's always nice to know that there are other ways to help them feel better, too!

We also received a sheet that highlighted all of the items we received this month along with a brief description and the back explained how to receive a free makeup brush using one of the products in our box!

Let's see what we received:

About Face Designs Pillowcase - Estimated Value $13.30 (Based on this pillowcase which is similar in design to the other option subscribers might have received)

This pillowcase is the perfect way to let your family know you are taking a sick day! But who am I kidding? Everyone knows moms don't get sick days. But at least this fun pillowcase can let everyone know how you're feeling. It is 100% cotton and a standard size. It looks like the other option that subscribers would receive is the black "Today has been cancelled (go back to bed)" pillowcase. A fun start to our feel better box!

Kleenex On-the-Go Tissues 10 ct - Buy 3 packs for $0.99

The next item we received is this cute travel pack of motivational Kleenex tissues. I think tissues and wipes are something a mom can never have enough of so I know these will definitely come in handy.

Bloomsberry Emergency Chocolate Bar

Every momma needs a stash of emergency chocolate so this bar was a cute novelty item to receive! It is not the best chocolate that I've ever tasted, but it's a fun package and will do for emergency purposes. I am actually most excited by the tidbit of information that came with it from Boxy Momma that eating chocolate could be better for a cough than actual cough syrup. It's definitely worth a try!

Gumi- Aid Fruit Gummies - Buy 6 boxes for $20.99

For those with a sweet tooth that aren't into chocolate, they included these fun fruity band-aids. These are another fun item that fits perfectly into the theme of our box! I am definitely more of a chocolate girl so I will probably save these for the kids who will think they are cool treats.

Archie McPhee Rosie the Riveter Band-Aids - Retail Value $5.95

Finally, a fun band-aid for momma! These Rosie the Riveter band-aids come in a cute tin that will be nice to display in my medicine cabinet. The design is fun and it came with a "free prize inside" which was a blender tattoo. I feel like that sends mixed messages, but I'm going to assume that blender is filled with a margarita for mom, which is much more acceptable!

The Country Muffin Organic Immune Boosting Elderberry Syrup - Retail Value $8

I've been hearing a bit about elderberry syrup lately so I was happy to have some to try through this box. In addition to the cute little jar which was packaged up nicely and arrived safely with no spills, Boxy Momma also sent a helpful informational sheet on the benefits of it. My family just returned from being out of town and I can tell we are all on the verge of a cold, so this was a great option to have to give everyone for a little immunity boost. My daughter was not a fan of the taste, which is like a very ripe berry mixed with cinnamon and some honey, but my son was happy to take some of this, which was surprising since he is the pickier one! I was impressed that they sent such a unique item in this box and it was enough to give the whole family a few spoonfuls. I'm not sure if it has really helped as of yet, but I think this is definitely a great alternative to test out. This can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks after opening, too, which is nice!

Curly Q Hair Rings set of 6 - Estimated Value $7 (based on a similar set found here)

I love the packaging on this little pack of hair rings! It's nice that it comes with 6 in a pack, too. I wore one in my hair after a shower and it did not leave a crease in my hair, although the ring itself did lose its shape just a little bit. These will be nice to have at the beach since they don't hold water like traditional hair bands do. They don't pull your hair and are also comfortable enough to wear through a headache, which is great for when you are feeling sick and need to keep your hair up.

Spa Sister Ice Bag - Retail Value $11

How cute is this little ice bag? I don't own anything like it and I think it will come in handy for sure since you can fill it with either ice or hot water depending on your needs. This can help with anything from muscle soreness to headaches to upset stomachs. I can think of one time of the month that this will come in handy for sure!

The lid unscrews so that you can fill it up with whichever temperature water you need. I love the red and blue hearts and think it is the perfect subtle Valentine's Day print for a February box that you can enjoy any time. Plus, if you take a picture with your new ice bag and post it to social media, you can get a free makeup brush from Spa Sister.

Ultima Replenisher Sample Pack (2 ct) - Buy 20 sticks here for $18.71

When we get sick, we usually make sure to stock up on Gatorade, but these handy little packets would be nice to have on hand as a natural alternative to provide us with some much-needed electrolytes. Each packet fits perfectly in a 16 oz bottle of water and they are vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free and both paleo and keto-friendly. They also contain no calories, carbs or sugar since they are sweetened with Stevia. Unfortunately, I do not like the taste of Stevia - something about it reminds me of artificial sweeteners, I think because it is just too sweet tasting for me.

I did like that it came with a nice informational booklet about staying hydrated. I tried the grape, on the left, and my husband had the raspberry flavor. The grape flavor was not bad and was slightly watery which helped to combat the sweetness. I was able to drink the entire bottle, but my husband did not enjoy his since it was just too sweet tasting for him. He does also water down his Gatorade though because even that is too sweet for him. I think these are definitely a great option for replenishing electrolytes without any added sugar, and other flavors might be even better.

Luxe Sugar Mama Feel Better Momma Lavender Mineral Soak - Estimated Value $3.43 (based on the $10 cost of an 8oz soak)

The last item is just what momma needs when she is sick, a nice relaxing bath! This little packet contains both Epsom and Himalayan pink salts as well as bentonite clay. The lavender scent is nice and subtle and is great for a relaxing bath aroma. This is actually a custom order just for this box which makes it a little bit more special!

MARCH SPOILER:

The theme for next month's box will be March Madness, "for those days Mom feels like she is losing her mind." I sure know what that's like!

Verdict:  I thought that this "Feel Better Momma" box from The Boxy Momma Company was so nicely curated with a ton of useful and fun items that will help make any momma feel better! There were so many items that were customized just for this box and it felt like a lot of thought and heart went into the selection of these items and all of them served an important purpose towards supporting our theme. Mom's don't get sick days, but luckily Boxy Momma has you covered! I estimate the total value of this box to be $59.06, and I am estimating on the lower end, so I think that's a great value for a box that costs $39.99 with free shipping!

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the March box. From The Boxy Momma Co:

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Those phone cord looking hair ties don’t work for my hair.

I liked the items in this box. I had migraines for 20 years and I would lay (lie?) down with the ice pack on the side my head hurt. I don’t know if it actually helped or whether the cold just numbed the pain but I would not have survived without it.

You can also use a hair dryer to shrink the hair ties. I love the reusable ice bags we have a couple they’re so convenient. I’ll have to watch this box it’s on my short list. IKR to mom not having a sick day, mine usually stays right beside me when they’re sick but when mom is sick it’s fend for yourself.
