BookCase.Club for Kids January 2019 Review

I'm Silly (My First Comics) by  Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm - Retail Value $7.99 (found here for $7.83)

This is actually the second My First Comics book that we have received through this subscription. Last year we received I'm Grumpy and we enjoyed the unique style of these books so I was happy to see another one from this series. These books are great for first readers since there are a lot of pictures to infer from. This book is about Tizzy Tornado who loves to be silly, but sometimes she doesn't realize that the things she does aren't quite that funny when they affect other people. This is a great lesson for my son who constantly asks me "is that funny, mommy?" when he gets into trouble. It also features a lot of fun text features such as speech bubbles and sound effects to go along with the actions.

Mr. Moonby Michael Paraskevas - Retail Value $7.99

I always love a good bedtime story and this is a fun one. Now that the sun is going to bed it's time for Mr. Moon to come out to oversee all of the nighttime activities such as the counting of the sheep, the fluffing of the clouds, and providing the jumping cows with a safe landing. This book has such beautiful illustrations throughout as it describes how the fireflies glitter, the friendly ghosts roam, and the dewdrops prepare for dawn. It has a nice gentle flow to it that will help your little one prepare for sleep.

The Tickle Book by Heidi Kilgras - Retail Value $4.99

Although our preferences are set to board book, we received this Little Golden Book with paper pages. It is still a great book for the newborn to two-year-old range though as you go through pages of rhyming text describing various tickles. The kids loved it when I did the actions to them such as tickling under their chin, or the dreaded armpit tickle. This was a cute book that any family who regularly enjoys a little tickling session will have fun with. The illustrations are pretty cute, too!

Wolfie Paints the Town by Sabina Gibson - Retail Value $16.99 (found here for $11.89)

This month, we received an extra book, which is another picture book, but I can't complain about a bonus book! This one is a cute story about Wolfie who lives in Little Wood and loves to paint what she sees around her. She amazes the people of her town when she shows them all of her artwork. The story is rather simple, but what is really special about this book is the artwork. This series is from a textile artist and instead of illustrations the pages are filled with photographs of these miniature fabric animals that she sews giving it the feel of your imagination really coming to life in a handmade fashion. I found it to be very unique and fun!

Verdict: I really never know what I will get when I open up our BookCase.Club box each month since they tend to stray from our preferences somewhat frequently by sending us picture books. Since I have three kids of varying ages, it is rarely an issue, and this month, I think that receiving an extra book more than made up for that. This is a subscription that I would only recommend if you have kids of different ages like I do, or if you are not as picky about the content that they send to you. Fortunately, the retail value is always higher than the cost of the box. This month the total came to $37.96 which is great for a $14.99 ($9.99 + $5.00 shipping) box. This month I really enjoyed the selections they sent and thought they were unique and cute!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
