Bombay & Cedar "Cleanse" Box Review January 2019
The box comes with a booklet of information that lists out the products and highlights some of the brands.
Also included was a card with a promo code and notification that although our booklet lists one soap, it has been substituted for another because of damage.
Tea Tree Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $14.00
Cleanse Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $16.00
The oils in this sub are always one of my favorite parts. This month we have a potent tea tree oil and a custom "cleanse" blend. The tea tree s great for disinfecting your home! My favorite surface spray is a blend of white vinegar, water, and tea tree oil. It can also be mixed in a spray bottle with water for a fantastic facial toner, especially if you tend to have breakout problems. The Cleanse blend has tea tree, rosemary, lemon, and lavender.
Iota Sunflower Kernels, 2.5 oz - Listed Value $3.99 (Buy 6 pouches for $23.34)
I love sunflower seeds! These are roasted and sprinkled with pink Himalayan salt. They made an awesome afternoon snack and I liked the resealable pouch.
Essential Oil Case - Listed Value $20.00
This little case is genius! I have been storing my oils in an older subscription box but this is much more polished and functional, especially if you like to take your oils on the go with a portable diffuser. It has enough room for 16 oil vials and is super padded to keep them safe and a handle for easy transport!
Midflower Peeling Mask - Retail Value $15.00
Midflower Charcoal Mask - Retail Value $5.00
This peel mask was so luxurious! Its power star ingredient is rose water, so you know I was very much into it. It was a little hard to put on because the mask itself was so delicate, but it was sandwiched between two helpful layers of mesh. The charcoal option also felt great on my face and made my skin dewy and reduced my redness.
Teapigs Cleanse Green Tea, 45 g - Retail Value $9.99
This tea has such a beautiful and tropical scent! It is a green tea blend with lemongrass, coconut, ginger, lemon, and dandelions. We have had a few warmer days here recently so I decided to try this tea iced! I brewed it as normal but with two tea bags, adding some raw sugar. I then poured the concentrated tea over a glass full of ice and enjoyed.
Towel and Basket Set - Listed Value $20.00
This little set is very cute. A lettuce printed tea towel is nestled into a ceramic berry basket. While this isn't something I would normally gravitate to, it would make a super thoughtful hostess gift. I can't decide if the font in the center is just super rustic or faded.
Eco-Sachets - Retail Value $20.00 (found here for $10.00)
I tend to stash sachets much like this all over my house in drawers and even in my car! These have a unique blend of lavender, rosemary, cloves, and cinnamon that are more complex than your normal lavender sachet. I also liked the look of the modern geometric print on the rough linen.
Truce Castille Soap, 12 fl oz - Retail Value $9.95
Since this was a replacement soap, our card earlier recommended adding a few of the tea tree essential oil drops to give this unscented soap a more "cleanse" vibe. It worked very well! This soap on its own is hypoallergenic, great for sensitive skin, and fragrance-free.
Unplug Every Day by Chronicle Books - Retail Value $14.95
Unplugging is so hard. Literally, all of my work involves a laptop or a cellphone! This book is full of great ideas for disconnecting, as well as a few lines for you to record when you completed the task as well as logging any reflections you may have from your time away from a screen. This book would likely take me a very long time to complete, but it is still a good place to start!
Verdict: Bombay & Cedar is one of my favorite boxes each month because it always has such a great variety of products. They are also products that usually relate really well to each month's theme. My favorite items this month were the masks, oil carrying case, sheet masks, and oils. The towel and basket will make an awesome gift, and the Unplug book should have some really good prompts for taking some time away from a screen. The Sunflower kernels were delicious and the scent of the sachets was wonderful. Though I couldn't find the values online for each and every item, I would guess this box has a value of at least $130-$150 which is good for a $50 box.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but order by the 12th to get the February box!
