UrbaneBox December 2018 Review

UrbaneBox tends to vary a lot in the styles they send. Lately, I've noticed more and more of their in-house branded clothing is included. This month I received a sweater, a thin cardigan, and a belt. I'm thinking they are intended to wear together. Let’s check them out and see!

sweater front sweater back sweater neckline

UrbaneBox Split Collar Sweater, Size M

This cream-colored, lightweight sweater is a simple basic that I could definitely use in my wardrobe. Unfortunately, the fit is just not that flattering and the quality feels a bit cheap. The split collar is cute but I don't like that I can see the bulky seams on the inside of the neckline. Although I won't wear this out and about, it is pretty soft and comfortable, so I'll just keep it with my comfy clothes.

belt belt inside

UrbaneBox Leather Belt, 40in

Now, I'm liking this belt! It's a little less than an inch wide and long enough to be worn around my waist or hips. The gold buckle compliments the red-brown leather well and should wear nicely over time. I don't have many brown belts, so I'm glad to add this to my wardrobe.

cardigan front cardigan back

UrbaneBox Blazer Cardigan, Size M

Hmm...this piece has a lot of style potential, but I can't help but notice it feels cheap like the sweater. The fabric, a cotton/poly mix, feels thin and stiff and the construction is pretty sloppy. I had to belt it because the inside of the lapels just flap around when I wear the cardigan open. Plus, the fit feels small overall. I do like some elements, like the print and the cut of the collar, but the construction issues make it hard to wear.

return

There is a flat rate envelope for any returns/exchanges you have. You simply log on to your account and request a return label if needed. Return shipping is free when exchanging sizes.

Verdict: This month, UrbaneBox sent me three items. I like the belt but am not impressed by the other items due to their lack of quality. There isn't any information online about UrbaneBox's in-house clothing line, but it seems that they are shifting toward including it over other brands. I haven't had issues with poor quality in the past, so I'm hopeful that this is just an off month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? UrbaneBox curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: At $60 for this box, each item averages out to $20 each.

Also, there was no box! A plastic bag with the clothes was shoved in my mailbox. Obviously, they are looking for ways to cut costs but they must be making a profit selling very cheap clothes for 60.00 a box.

Buyer beware!! Flea market quality clothing, ill fitting, cheap fabric and poorly made. No brand name items in my box both were the urbanebox brand. The gray cardigan/blazer is like something from an 8th grade sewing project where the student got a C. The length is very strange, like mid-thigh. It looks like a gray lab coat. The lady above wears it well but I feel like my money was wasted. The jeans were supposed to be size 8, more like size 4. I almost couldn’t fit my (8narrow) foot through the foot on the pants. Crazy. There is also an issue with cancelling. You must cancel by the 5th of the month. They sent my first subscription on the 9th so when I realized I’d made a poor choice it was too late to prevent them from getting another 60.00 from me. Mens clothing may be alright but they missed the mark for me.

Buyer beware! So disappointed, sent cheap Chinese clothing(winter clothing in March). Hard to cancel, billed me again. I bought a box for myself and my BF. Even after canceling I’m being charged & got more sweaters today. I received a sweater with strange detailing and a very very small long sleeve top both of which are not great for CA summers. Poor quality, sending winter clothing for the spring, not canceling when requested. The items do not look anything like the products sent to reviews or the products showing up on their website. This is a bate and switch so not worth $60, not worth anything to me.

This one looks like a miss and I agree with your review, the clothing looks cheap. The cost should be more like $40 per box IMO.

There is a place on their site that explains they charge if you get a discount and cancel after one box – I’m just lazy and never read those things. When I cancelled after my first box of a very thin maxi dress sleeveless in the fall and petite unsized blazer (I am not petite), I was too late to cancel my second box, which was fine since I received a gorgeous top I receive lots of compliments on and an ordinary sweater, but I did not continue because they are hit and miss and the quality does seem cheap. I had ordered business casual too.

$60 seems absurd considering you can get better quality clothing at a cheap store like F21 for much less.

Be aware of this company . The quality of the items in my first box was terrible and when I canceled they charged me a $35 “canceling fee”. When I asked what that was about they replied that it’s because i signed up with a discount. But there was no announcement when i signed up that I will be charged a fee if I cancel.
Just a thing to consider before subscribing.

You always seem to get such nice things. I did ok the first month when I just went with casual clothes, but then I tried business casual the second month and they sent me a hippy-dippy monstrosity maxi-dress that was a foot too long with my highest heels and was embellished with peacock feathers! Thankfully it fit a friend’s daughter – but I don’t have 60 bucks a month to risk on something that doesn’t fit and isn’t suitable! Too bad because it would be a decent deal if you could rely on the clothes being wearable and common-denominator taste-wise.

This company is definitely is bait and switch, I’ve tried to contact them and they won’t respond. The clothes they sent me were terrible, ugly and cheap basically 60 to the garbage can. Everyone needs to go the BBB.org and file a complaint. Their customer service won’t even respond to me.
