Unique Vintage December 2018 Review

You never quite know what you’re going to get with this subscription. It could be a party dress or one that you could wear to work.

A note: Every month, you get an email from Unique Vintage and click through to pay if you want a package that month. If you ignore the email, nothing is sent and you don’t get charged. (Emails are supposed to come between the 5th and the 10th, with shipment later in the month.)

Let’s see what I got this month:

Unique Vintage December 2018 - Unique Vintage 1950s Style Black and White Half Sleeve Julien Swing Dress Front

Unique Vintage 1950s Style Black and White Half Sleeve Julien Swing Dress – Retail Value $98

This one had a big enough skirt for a petticoat so I am wearing one here, but I think it would also look fine without one. I have to admit I feel a little bit like a conservative version of a French maid in this dress (though without an apron, I suppose). This one has a little bit of stretch and fits pretty well around the midsection which is the challenge area for me due to the Unique Vintage sizing system (which is well-explained at sign-up). I think I could wear this to work although I might need a cardigan or shawl or something with a bit of color in it because I tend to look a bit Goth when wearing mostly black.

Unique Vintage December 2018 - Unique Vintage 1950s Style Black and White Half Sleeve Julien Swing Dress Back

Here is a view of the back. This did wrinkle a lot in shipping but it steamed out pretty easily (you are generally not supposed to iron Unique Vintage dresses). This one is suitable for me to wear to work, or it could be dressed up with accessories for a nicer occasion. It’s a bit of a low neckline for me, so I would definitely stick with the slip underneath. I think a black slip would also work, with black tights.

Verdict: The dress I received has a retail price of $98, which is a good value for this subscription at $41 over the cost of the dress plus shipping. The style is something that I think could work for a variety of occasions with the right accessories and of course you always have the option of wearing a petticoat to change the look, as well.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, all boxes ship out at the same time of the month so it’s too late to get the November shipment. However, if you like the dress, you can order it from the link above. (Sign up for their email list; they have coupons and sales every now and then.)

Value Breakdown: This subscription costs $57 if you include shipping and you get one dress. Tax may also be charged now but that will vary by location.

You should check out their website. I don’t know what your body type is but they are actually pretty accommodating. Everything comes in XS all the way through 5X (if you click the link above, under the sizes, it says “available in plus” and if you click that, you can see the plus size listing) and the dresses look good on all of the models, of whatever size, plus or regular.

This dress certainly looks vintage. I like It. Does the dress have the black piece above the collar at the cleavage level or is it a slip or camisole?

Looks great on you. Thanks for the review.

The black piece is part of the dress, thankfully. Otherwise it would be pretty low cut…

Huh, the backs of my ankles are yellow. I guess some dye from the socks I was wearing earlier in the day bled through. Haha.
