Holo Hookup Bees January 2019 - Cupcake 1

Holo Hookup Bees January 2019 - Cupcake 2

Cupcake Polish in Highly Cultured, 15 mL – Estimated Value $13 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Cupcake Polish here)

Highly Cultured is a gorgeous bright pink holo crème with opal iridescent glitters. I wish the glitter chunks you see in the bottle transferred to the nail, but other than that this was a great linear holo that applied smoothly.

Holo Hookup Bees January 2019 - Different 2

Different Dimension in I Got My Ion You, 15 mL – Estimated Value $11 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup, but check out other holographic polishes from Different Dimension here)

I Got My Ion You is a teal based linear holo cream with scattered gold micro flakes. This bright and cheerful color is just what I need when the dark winter blues strike. This polish had a great formula and no chipping when I wore it for three days without a top coat.

Holo Hookup Bees January 2019 - Glisten 1

Holo Hookup Bees January 2019 - Glisten 2

Glisten & Glow in #Cellfie, 15 mL – Estimated Value $12 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup. Check out the other polishes offered by Glisten & Glow here)

#Cellfie is a yellow linear holo with pink shimmer and silver holo micro glitters. Yellow is such an underappreciated nail polish shade, and this gorgeous shade had a great formula. This is the polish I decided to keep on my nails, and I’m enjoying the brightness it adds to my cold and blustery day.

Bee’s Knees Lacquer in Asp Me About It, 15 mL – Estimated Value $13 (this is an exclusive shade made just for The Holo Hookup. Check out the other polishes offered by Bee’s Knees Lacquer here)

This is so cool- it's a magnetic holo polish! This shade has a navy base and a copper magenta shimmer and linear holo. The magnetic effect was subtle, and this was an interesting counterpunch to the bright shades included in this box.

Holo Hookup Bees January 2019 - Swatch 1

Here are the swatches! Please ignore my messy cuticles. This is with no top coat, and I ended up wearing this hand like this for three days with no chips!

Holo Hookup Bees January 2019 - Swatch 2

Here is another shot- these really shone in the sunshine.

Verdict: This was another knock-out box from The Holo Hookup! I love the bright and cheerful colors that liven up this dreary January. Getting a magnetic holo was a special treat too. You may not think the $44 cost for these four polishes is worth it, but I think the $11 price per bottle is a great deal for both the quality and the truly unique polishes received this month—especially when you consider the fact it is impossible to buy these polishes anywhere else!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this is now sold out. Check back here for when the February box goes on sale.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $40 + $4 shipping, which means that each of the 4 nail polishes in the box has an average cost of $11.

I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

FYI I noticed that Black Dahlia has Lucky Bags again! No idea how long they are up but I loved mine last year.

Dear Holo Hookup, Please make a gel version of your box. This is my favorite subscription review…but I only use gels (because I can cure them almost immediately). Please?

Hi Jessica! I’ve been waiting for your review on this box. What am I supposed to do with the enclosed magnet that came with the box? Thanks!

Hi Tracy!
That’s specifically for the Bees Knees Polish. To use it, apply one coat of the bees knees and let dry. Apply a second, thicker coat and the hold the magnet close over the nail for about 15 seconds. That’ll give you a magnetic shift in the polish, though it is a bit faint with this one.
