Target Beauty January 2019 - Info2

Moving on to Target’s relieving beauty picks!

Target Beauty January 2019 - Vichy

Vichy Mineral 89, .17fl oz - Retail Value $3.02 (Buy 1.69oz for $29.99)

Target Beauty features Vichy products a lot, and this is my favorite product I’ve tried from them. This fragrance-free serum added a punch of hydration and a little bit of a glow to my complexion right after the first time I used it. The consistency is a water-like gel, making it is so easy to spread across your face without using a ton of product or rubbing too hard. The hyaluronic acid soaks into your skin almost immediately, and you’re left with baby soft, glowing skin!

Target Beauty January 2019 - CetaScrub

Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub, .33fl oz - Estimated Value $.44 (Buy 6fl oz for $7.99)

Cetaphil has always been a reliable brand for me, so I was pretty excited to test this scrub out. I squirted a small dollop on my fingers, and I didn’t see any scrubbing particles in the clear gel, and I could only start to feel the mild exfoliation when I started working the product into my skin. It was a lovely experience, gentle yet effective, but I’d much rather it be fragrance-free than have that clean, soapy scent.

Target Beauty January 2019 - CetaCream

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream, .14oz - Estimated Value $.10 (Buy 16oz for $10.99)

Even though I was disappointed by the packet approach, I really love this cream. It is thick, yet it sinks in without leaving your skin feeling anything but supple and soft. This fragrance-free cream is perfect for dry knees and elbows, especially in the winter.

Target Beauty January 2019 - Dove1

Target Beauty January 2019 - Dove2

Dove DermaSeries Body Lotion Replenish, 1.7oz - Estimated Value $4.75 (Buy 2.5oz for $6.99)

I am so pleased with all of these fragrance-free essentials! I love scent-free lotion, and this is a great everyday pick. Thinner lotions like this are perfect for adding a few drops of oil into for that extra moisturizing boost, and this sample size is so generous.

Target Beauty January 2019 - La2

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Cleanser,  .5fl oz, - Estimated Value $.56 (Buy 13.5oz for $14.99)

Hydrating cleansers always feel great going on, but I never feel like my face is clean enough after rinsing. I used a generous amount, applied and worked into the skin using circular motions, and after about 40 seconds I rinsed it off using warm water. I didn’t really feel a film after rinsing, but I also still felt a presence on my skin as if there was still some cleanser left behind. My skin felt hydrated and nourished after I patted my face dry. I think I’d like this as a second step to a double cleanse more since at least I’d definitely be getting all the makeup off and exfoliating a little before this hydrating step.

Target Beauty January 2019 - La

La Roche-Posay Redermic R, .17oz - Estimated Value $9.69 (Buy 1oz for $56.99)

Lightweight and packed full of concentrated retinol, this gel-serum is supposed to visibly reduce wrinkles and pores and improve skin texture & tone. Unfortunately, my skin does not tolerate retinol, so I gave this sample to my mom to try. She’s only used it for one night, but she said she woke up to a perfectly plump and smooth canvas the next morning.

Target Beauty January 2019 - CeraVe1

Target Beauty January 2019 - CeraVe2

CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream, .17oz - Estimated Value $1.27 (Buy 1.7oz for $12.69)

CeraVe has been a shining star in my skin care regimen since I was about 15 (many moons ago). Their hydrating cleanser and moisturizer have been staples on and off for me, and I actually just picked this gem up a few months ago to spot treat some dry patches on my face. It is a very thick consistency, and you definitely know it is on your face because it does not dry down (that’s why I don’t apply it all over). This moisturizer is formulated to work best at night in cahoots with your natural circadian rhythm to restore your skin barrier overnight when your skin is most responsive. I can’t speak to that, but I will say that when I wake up after treating a dry area on my face, my skin isn’t flakey anymore and my makeup goes on like a dream.

Verdict: This box has a total value of about $19.83, which is almost triple the $7 price tag of this box; Target Beauty Box is so great if you love to sample different brands on the cheap, and the best thing about this box is how handy each sample is to travel with. This box was full of unscented skincare wonders that I already love, and I was happy to experience a few other great finds as well. I always utilize the $3 coupon, which is always a very welcome bonus to this box.

What do you think of the January 2019 Skincare Target Beauty Box

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.

Truly enjoying the items featured in this box. I used them as a compliment to my nightly regime.

I loved both boxes this month but especially this one because of the Vichy and Dove. I bought a second set. Great review!

This box was worth it to me because of the Vichy and the Dove. I love that Vichy and I needed a tube of lotion for the kitchen sink. The cetaphyl cream in the foil package is kind of a joke. They were handing them out at Walmart the day my box arrived. Between the 2, I got both feet and calves moisturized then broke out my generic. 😂👍🏻 The other products are just things I wanted to try. I’m not a huge fan of either La Roche-Posay products but I will use them intermittently. HEADS UP ON THE CETAPHYL GENTLE EXFOLIATER: I don’t normally have issues with products like this, particularly this brand, but this stuff burned! I mean it really burned! I did not do anything else differently that day. I had to use my regular cleanser twice to get the slimy feeling off and even then, I needed hydrocortisone cream on my face that day instead of moisturizer and I couldn’t wear any makeup. I’m in my 40’s and have not had anything like this happen in over 10 years.

Yikes! That’s pretty scary–have you used any Cetaphil products before? Maybe the fragrance was irritating for you?

I seriously thought I would not get any more target beauty boxes, but your review, particularly on the CeraVe sold me. My mom has strange dry patches on her face that she scratches in the evening and maybe this will be the trick.
We love cetaphil, so that’s obviously going to get used. . . nice travel size.

In fact, I think everything in the box will be used at some point.

I can’t use retinol either. Or a lot of other chemical exfoliants. It makes my acne significantly worse, and I tried to wait out a purging period but it never calmed down 🙁

I swear my face must be made of concrete because whatever I put on it, it tolerates! And I use a plethora of products every day. Try a physical efoliant…no chemicals and it will make a huge difference. Target boxes have been eh lately…

LOL Face of concrete–I love that! You are very lucky! I swear I look at something with fragrance or retinol and I have a flare-up! 😛

Laura

They say to start with small amounts of retinol , maybe twice a week, and work your way into using more to get your skin used to it. Products with Omegas will calm your skin down after. I use the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil to help calm my skin if I use too much acid.

You definitely made this months target box so much more appealing!! I wasn’t sold on trying it until now 🙂

Agree- I totally planned on skipping this one (I got the other one)- after reading this, I bought it.

Coco

Me either, but I just ordered one based on this review. I’m really interested in trying the La Roche-Posay Redermic, which alone is worth more than the price of the box. Great review, thanks Abby!

Rebecca

I think this is the reason why the price hasn’t dropped to $5 while the other January box has.

Beth L

Really really honest review. So many new faces….or i just haven’t been lucky enough to read one of your reviews until now. ❤
