Stitch Fix Kids January 2019 Review
In our Stitch Fix Kids box, there were several bright and colorful information sheets and some information about their box challenge. I love that they encourage recycling of your box in such a fun way.
This is the invoice that was sent in the box. It provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items in the pre-paid postmarked envelope they provide. The items for my daughter came to a total of $220, but with the 25% discount (which they take off BEFORE they deduct the $20) and the $20 credit, our total drops down to $145.00.
This is the included style sheet, which features pictures of all the clothing and a sweet note from her stylist, Isabel, who usually does a great job of matching her style. I love that they make it more kid-friendly by adding a little maze to the outside of it!
Just a note: My daughter is 4 and is incredibly tall for her age. She is too tall for 5T, so I asked for size 6, which means most items fit her a little looser than normal! This time her stylist made sure to send only size 6 items since sometimes the 6/7 sized pieces are much too big. I love that she took our feedback into account!
Chenault Girl Kinsley Tutu Dress, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $28.00
We started off with a winner! This dress is actually very similar to another dress my daughter owns, but she was absolutely thrilled to see this in the box. She loves her "heart" dress and this one is especially fun because of the reversible sequins that change from a nice shiny gold to a more matte finish. Anything that involves a tutu is perfect for her. This dress felt a tad short on her and is definitely more summery, but it's cute and she loves it!
Under Armour Minnie Reversible Performance Legging, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $30.00
As much as that first dress suited my daughter's style, these were the opposite. It's difficult for me to get her to wear pants, let alone casual or sporty pants like these. I thought maybe the pink color would get her excited, but she wasn't and that was just fine with me since the UA brand carries a high price tag! They are fun because they are reversible, but they were a miss for us.
Nine One Eight Patti Long Sleeve Tunic, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $14.00
This next shirt was very sporty and didn't really suit her style either. It was soft, but the material was also very thin and not incredibly flattering or exciting. This was also a bit baggy and big on her.
Moon & Stars Marilyn Ruched Sleeve Swing Dress, Size L - Cost to Keep $20.00
This dress was another item she really liked, and it was very similar to the Moon & Stars dress she received last month, only this one was much thinner and had that fun ruched tie detail on the sleeves. I thought it was cute and suited her style. It is super soft and has just a bit of stretch to it since it is 5% spandex.
Third Wish Clothing Quin Tie Detail Sequin Graphic Pullover, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $26.00
This sweatshirt was designed exclusively for Stitch Fix and it is nice and thick with a super soft fleece lining. I love the sequin heart smiley and that cute tie detail. You can see it on her paired with the next item!
Tea Collection Cindy Striped Legging, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $20.00
These leggings are super cute with their navy stripes and that adorable scalloped detail at the waistband! I also love that they retail for $24.50 on the Tea Collection site, but only cost $20 to keep in this box. They were so cute paired with the sweatshirt and this was such a fun kid outfit! Unfortunately, the leggings were super tight trying to get them on her, but you can see they were still a bit long. She's a pretty skinny kid, so I have to blame the wonky fit on the leggings this time!
Flapdoodles Abby Pull-On Knit Skinny Jean, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $24.00
These skinny jeans were cute and fun with their white flowers, hearts, and butterflies. They are a bit busy to me, but I thought they would at least appeal to my daughter. This is when she informed me that she doesn't wear jeans - she really thinks she is a teenager, sometimes. They fit her very nicely and I liked the elastic waistband. You can see them paired them with the next shirt from our box.
Chenault Girl Corrine Sequin Graphic Tree, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $16.00
I didn't think much of this shirt when I first saw it, but once she had it on, I really liked the fit of it! It was flattering with that cute little puff at the sleeves and the wide neckline, and of course, a sequined unicorn appeals to most four-year-old girls! This shirt was another soft one with a tiny bit of stretch to it.
Chenault Girl Tianna Tutu Skirt, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $24.00
This tutu! It is so adorable and unique with the three different colors and its nice shiny silver waistband. It is such a dreamy color combination and of course, she loved it! I really liked that it was a bit long on her, which you can see in the next set of photos.
Chenault Girl Raney Ruffle Sleeve Graphic Knit, Size 6 - Cost to Keep $18.00
This rainbow shirt is super fun with the bright colors and those ruffle sleeves! We decided to pair it with the skirt since it had pink and blue in it as well. This shirt was pretty thin and really long on her.
We tried it tucked in and it worked a little better, but I think this would be better styled with a pair of leggings.
The Verdict: This month was another great selection of items from Stitch Fix Kids for my daughter! Her stylist really does get her style and while that sporty outfit was sort of a miss, I feel like that's inevitable when they send you so many items each time. I really do hope that they go to a model with less clothing items for kids! The way they grow, it would be great to get just five pieces at a time like the adult boxes send. Overall, we were definitely happy with the items and although a few of the shirts were pretty thin, most clothing pieces felt like great quality items.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $220. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all of the items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $145.00. That’s a discount of around 34% for these items!
